      Yeah it's only the second time I've used the 27 properly but as you say, it's a kitchen! Even with all the extra bits and bobs I've got in there, it is only just over a kilo, which is amazing really. Thanks for the watch and comment - been loving your Insta posts! Rich 👍

    Great video mate! The wild garlic is definitely nice, try jack by the hedge also. It's definitely been very cold these recent months, most of my kit has been frozen over.

    Enjoyed that rich! Great little spot down by the stream, great setup and both meals looked right up my street. I like the look of the trangia cook sets, they just look so big and bulky… do you rate it?
    Thanks for sharing mate
    Ash

    • @CottonBud
      @CottonBud  2 года назад +1

      Cheers Matey. Having the little poncho tarp above the porch did make it a bit less claustrophobic as I was only in the tent for sleeping really. But then it only rained a bit, unlike on your Soulo camp in the woods recently!
      I put off getting a full classic Trangia for years, convinced they look too bulky and heavy (especially when all set up) but actually the 27, when all nested and held in one hand, feels no bulkier than, say, a BCB Crusader system. If I wanted to do the meal I did with a Trangia Triangle or Pocket Rocket, I'd still need at least two pans, a windshield, utensils etc, which would have ended up just as bulky I bet. It's really clever just how much stuff all fits in that 7 inch wide by 4 inch high format.
      I've yet to take it on any long hikes into the hills but when real cooking versatility is needed it's hard to beat, and I'm really glad I've got one now.
      Cheers Ash - thanks for the watch and comment/question! Rich 👍

    Relaxing...and you busted out the MSR Elixir 1 👍👍 Cracking tent Rich, I still love mine. I've never cooked wild garlic, near me there's a woodland with a stream running through it and there's a massive crop of wild garlic but last time I went there I got bitten so badly by mosquitos I dont really want to go back...Ya can't beat a sausage in the morning 👍

    • @CottonBud
      @CottonBud  2 года назад +1

      It's always sausage time down in Cotton Bud woods Lee. I'd say give the garlic a go now if ever mate - it's at the right point in the year to harvest but hopefully a bit early for mozzies? You know me, I avoid the woods in warmer months for exactly that reason, hate the blighters. Be warned though, it is a high source of fiber, in my experience - I had a mild dose of The Greatest Hits next day 🥴. Cheers Matey. Rich 👍

    How yow gettin on with the MSR elixir? Im after a new 1 man but so much choice

    • @CottonBud
      @CottonBud  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I really like it, it's spacious, comfortable, and generally pleasant to hang out in. I have only used it in woodland though, and in fairly dry conditions - I'm reluctant to take it up hills or to more exposed areas as it pitches inner first - knowing my luck it would be raining, and the inside would get wet. I know people say 'it's not really an issue that often' but all in one pitch tents exist for a reason, and I prefer to use one for those situations.

Also thanks for the taxi call at dukes lodge you really are a gentleman! Thanks Jordan and Kai, it was nice to bump in to local fellow wild campers - a first for me! And no prob with phone call, glad you got home swiftly. You must have been pretty soggy by then - I got absolutely drenched just after meeting you both 😅. I think it may have been the bilberry bushes you were referring to Jordan? Like bloody sponges... 💦 I get my gear from wherever is cheapest/most available online, including Evil Amazon sometimes I'm afraid. The Ray Mears shop is great for bushcrafty gear too. I've not been at his sort of thing very long (will be 4 years in the autumn since my first wild camp) but if I can offer any useful info please try me. What fuel were you using in the Trangia? Wondered if you have a preference? Wild garlic is great, it wilts really easily and has a subtle flavour. Nice!

    • @CottonBud
      @CottonBud  2 года назад +2

      Yeah it's much more like spinach in the way it cooks eh? I bet it would make for a cracking balti.. Fuel was the clear bio-ethanol, supposed to make less soot on your pans than the traditional purple meths! And I think it works out cheaper per litre anyway. Nice one Del - thanks for watching pal 👍
