Great video. I am kinda tired of people saying the 7800xt is “okay” in comparison to the 6800xt. For an accurate representation, you would have to test the 7800xt at this time since launch against the 6800xt at the same point since its launch. The only reason the 6800xt is even close to good now is because of the graphics driver updates. Give this 7800xt some time, and it will rival the 4080. That’s how AMD cards have worked and will always work. Can’t compare something that is perfected to something that just came out and hasn’t been refined- then blame the unrefined card for not being better.
I'm tired of hearing 7800xt is bad because of 6800xt when most people aren't going to be upgrading from 6800xt to 7800xt they will likely be upgrading from like a 1060 or something.
@@santeenl compare the 6800xt to the 3080 and tell me what you find. I had a 3080 10GB, and a 6700xt did almost as good as it. A 6800xt would be better than the 6700xt. To be honest: I am more excited about the Nitro+ cooler than about the GPU itself :D But oh well, as you said: at least the proposal is has decent value, even if not a massive generational uplift.
Hopefully drivers improve the frames difference. Currently it feels a little bit inconsistent on many reviews. In some others it's competitive with a 6950, in some others it beats the 4070ti. Hmm..
Personally I think the value is really good full stop. Yes, other GPU in this generation has been not so great in terms of value, but when you compare performance and pricing, you should look at last gen and previous gens. I feel that people think this gen pricing is bad that even a great priced GPU ended up with a catch like it looks great because other were terrible when in fact it is not. This is the data I take from TechPowerUp: GPU model/Launch Price/Performance relative to 7800 XT: 1070 Ti / 449 / 42% -- 1080 / 599 / 44% -- 2070 / 499 / 50% -- 2070S / 499 / 56% -- 3070 / 499 / 76% -- 6800 / 579 / 84% -- 6800 XT / 649 / 95% -- 7800 XT / 499 / 100% Looking at the data, you can see that there is no doubt 7800 XT is a great value regardless of other GPU in this gen being terrible or not. Except for the 20 series (mainly because of the price hike), IIRC, all other GPU in that list was universally praised without a catch (well, maybe 3070 catch was its lower than expected 8GB VRAM, but most praising its price to performance). For me the only thing that is wrong with 7800 XT is not the price to performance but the naming because obviously even with great pricing, some people ended up feeling a bit meh because it doesn't give the performance uplift vs 6800 XT. If AMD named this 7800 I think the sentiment will be even more positive because it would end up having performance improvement and discounted price (better performance for less money instead of a discount 6800 XT). Also I know people remembered that 30 series and 6000 series was released around the pandemic, but pricing wise, 3070, 6800, and 6800 XT wasn't affected by the pandemic. It is only the later GPU like 6700 XT that the pricing were terrible especially in the face of 3060 Ti being priced $80 cheaper and having similar performance (although to be fair, you can't really get 3060 Ti at MSRP and the actual price was more expensive than 6700 XT).
And where would 6900xt or 6950xt fall in there ? Just wondering since 6800xt and 6900xt are maybe like 10% diff, then 6900xt vs 6950xt basicly overclocked 6900xt. Should 7800xt then be same as 6900xt ? If its 5-10% better then 6800xt.
Why are ALL the reviewers missing the mark on this? I mean how? This card is not the replacement for the Rx 6800 xt. It is the replacement for the Rx 6800 non xt. AMD are changing up their naming scheme. They said this. Look at the specs for the 6800 non xt and you will see.

Is ray tracing the future ???? Because I don’t know what card to go with 4070 or the 7800xt I have a i7 10700k. Will the 7800xt perform better with updates?
I went with 7800xt. Runs good. Much better fps in warzone. My 3060ti struggled to give me 120fps. And was reaching 85° Now I get 160fps mini. And no higher than 65° I have it paired with r5 5600x. Works good.
@ndrijke i did buy one yes. I'm very happy with. Runs very quiet, great temperatures (compared to my 2070 I used before). Performance is also a huge uplift compared to the previous GPU I used. Obviously it has some short comings like FSR not being as good as DLLS and ray tracing performance. But I don't have a lot of games that use RT heavily and generally I prefer to run games without upscalling unless absolutely necessary. A bit more uplift over the 6800xt would be nice, but probably than the card would have exceeded my budget limit that the 7800xt maxed out.
Also got it, at first it was giving me driver timeout nonstop, but after they exchanged it (RMA), it runs extremely well, surprisingly! Runs very well even with 650W PSU.
The 6700xt was N22 full and the 7800xt is N32 full, so yeah it's way closer to a 6700xt than a 6800xt. Either way it's just naming, it's the price that matters and it launched at the same price the 6700xt launched at.
@@PineyJustice No it didnt, it launched at the same price as the 6800 launched at. Edit: also comparable to the 6800 non xt, it has the same compute units and such. 6800 was N21 while 7800XT is n32 although compute units and such are the same. So in one way it's like the 6700XT and on the other hand it's like the 6800 non xt.
The difference between the 6000 series and 7000 series AMD GPUs with regard to power is that the 6000 series only showed you the GPU power; whereas the 7000 series shows you the Total Board Power. So to equate the two you would have to add the power used for the VRAM on the 6000 series and that would be around an extra 50 Watts.

Total its like 465w Total divided by 8/10 for 80% psu rating, its like 581.. So its truly enough? But internet say 700w min psu
its about the quality and the recentness (is that even a word?) of the PSU and not on the numbers it has on the name, my releatively old corsair 850w didnt manage to handle the 6800xt, not even undervolted, because amd gpus are not power efficent at all unlike nvidia, they eat even more watts than what is shown in the softwares so dont bother with maths. But a modern 850w gold did handle it, i picked up the Msi one on amazon for 160 bucks, its one of the the best seller ones i think, for a amd card you need a expensive PSU unfortunately.
@@Spillow-C I got my psu brand new 3 months ago 😅 I ask this question because i dont want spend amother hundreds $ for another psu.. Many people said its enough, but internet said 7800xt min 700watt psu.. Ps: 6800xt consume LOT more power than 7800xt
I threw a 650w Corsair gold PSU with a R7 1700X and 7800XT and it ran fine. Only problem was the cpu bottleneck in some games mostly the latest titles. I calculated the rig would be using 596w max with the 7800XT in it. I eventually took it out and threw it in my rig that has a 5800X and a 750w PSU instead. Asrock calls for a 800w PSU with this Phantom Gaming card but I just skipped it seeing as how this second rig should only be using 600w max. I put in a 6800 with the first rig which is of course better suited for the 1700X. I've seen this Phantom Gaming card use as high 424w TBP though.
Well from what AMD said, the 7800 xt is to replace the 6800 NON xt. Not sure why a Tech channel can't point that out or even remember it for some reason...
Some of the 1% lows look off to me, I own a 6950xt I can tell you some of the 1% lows shown here are incorrect. With AMD cards they often dip in the first 30 seconds to minute and then settle down. So I would suggest looking at it again.
Just bought an Asus Tuf 4070 ti and I regret nothing. The 7800xt shows great performance for the price. They cut down on compute units this time around but it doesn't seem to affect it too much and 16gb is huge for people.
Same thing here 13:53 with the 3090 ti having better 1% lows, but below it. And also the 6800 xt vs 3080. You should make a secondary sorting stat for the 1% lows as they're arguably more important that the max fps anyway.

3080 12gb is the faster card. 3090 has more memory but also runs hotter so doesn’t keep its boost for as long. Generally you’ll see on average about 1% between them which could be deemed as margin of error.

Is it worth the upgrade running rtx 3060ti at moment and really want something better for the future
I ordered the Xfx merc 7800 xt last night how do you think this will do with a ryzen 5 5600x @ 4.65 ghrtz?
What's your verdict?
@@Nick_R_ it’s good but msi software is bullying my 7800xt. I’m checking now if I even need msi center installed.
Control panel, maintenance, reliability history
cc_engine.exe is an msi file BUT cc can hide itself inside of other programs taking there name. As far as performance. It ran Fortnite at EPIC settings in 1440p and it looked beautiful, it’s a strong card. For going to Walmart for 1/2 cart of food for over $100 and with how fast money goes .$500 is definitely worth it being I’ll have this card for the next few years.
Should i take 4070 or 7800xt when the price is here the same?
7800xt
how it didn't have the best launch? The card was sold out world wide in the first 3 days lol
I have the xfx 7800xt and it is goated (coming from a 3060laptop) as it is good looking, sleek, no rgb, cheap as heck for what it gives and is only 2 slots
6900XT - 7900XTX
6800XT - 7900XT
6800 - ???
6700XT - 7800XT
6600XT - 7700XT
Take your pick.
7800xt is better than the 6800xt.
And was reaching 85°
Now I get 160fps mini.
And no higher than 65°
I have it paired with r5 5600x. Works good.
@@regisdolci3324 yeah I went with the 7800xt it’s awesome
XFX 7800xt it is. Great video. :)
Did you buy one? If so, what's your perspective as a user?
@ndrijke i did buy one yes. I'm very happy with. Runs very quiet, great temperatures (compared to my 2070 I used before). Performance is also a huge uplift compared to the previous GPU I used. Obviously it has some short comings like FSR not being as good as DLLS and ray tracing performance. But I don't have a lot of games that use RT heavily and generally I prefer to run games without upscalling unless absolutely necessary. A bit more uplift over the 6800xt would be nice, but probably than the card would have exceeded my budget limit that the 7800xt maxed out.
@cidiracing7481 Thanks, good to know.
@@Nick_R_ np at all :)
Also got it, at first it was giving me driver timeout nonstop, but after they exchanged it (RMA), it runs extremely well, surprisingly! Runs very well even with 650W PSU.
So 3080 is faster then 3090 at 4k?
Yeah, nice review 👌👌
thats wat im sayin,
Went from a 4070 that had issues.. to a 6800xt.. the extra memory and performance was worth it on the games I play
6700XT is the last generation card of the 7800XT not the 6800XT.
AMD"s own words though says the 6800 is the last gen comparison to the 7800XT.
What is the difference between the graphic card's
Another person testing card and another time a lot of bugs. The best one is in 14:41 - How 3080 is better than 3090?
It’s 2fps. At 1440p they are both pretty well matched.
For both cards, why the empty blocks in the voltage regulation chips and chokes?
The difference between the 6000 series and 7000 series AMD GPUs with regard to power is that the 6000 series only showed you the GPU power; whereas the 7000 series shows you the Total Board Power.
So to equate the two you would have to add the power used for the VRAM on the 6000 series and that would be around an extra 50 Watts.
XFX Mers 589 €, Nito+ 659 €, ... Mercs 6800 XT 539 €, make your choice.
7800 xt is looking pretty attractive m8
8:57 Both 6900xt and 7800xt beat 6950xt at Cyberpunk 1440p? Something's not right here.
Its the other way around 😂
So three years later you are getting almost the same performance from the next-gen card? How is that progress?
cheaper by $150, also the 3080 was 700 at launch and the 4070 has similar preformance and is $100 cheaper. so not sure why this is seen as not progress when the 4070 is apparently progress
How does the Gigabyte version stack up?
I can’t find a single video of the Nitro+ that shows what the RGB bar looks like lit up.
ruclips.net/video/-yUp-vl9cFE/видео.htmlsi=moSy64RDR1EZtvZ2 shots of it on there.
But these bencbmark results are not with the reference version of the 7800xt.
I also own the 7800xt nitro + and a i9 4070 140w mobile.
Pretty funny to see the difference between these two.
Just upgraded from a 2060 to 7800xt nitro+ easiest and best decision I’ve made
Is this card ok for 4k 60 fps gaming ?
What about CoilWhine on the Sapphire ??
it's an odd behaviour of a card between it doing better or worse than the RX 6950XT
who is winner?! saphir or xfx
Sapphire, it's more good in looks and performance
i have a question is that temps without any cooler
wonder if the a i accelerators will make this card an all round contender besides games
Wait on most graphs rtx 3080 is either equal or ahead of rtx 3090 and also 3080 is ahead of 3080ti a lot of times.
Is this a worthy upgrade from an RTX 3070, I mostly play at 1440p UW
Definitely not, you shouldn't buy anything until 8000 generation AT LEAST
@@J_J_B_B i play in 1080p whit 3600 amd and 5700xt, i know if change gpu i need to balance cpu power maybe whit a 7800x3d or 5800x3d, but i should wait the 8000 gen? my prefered heavy game is tarkov
Your results are very shall I say odd versus the other "big" testers on YT, why? What CPU are you using and do you have SAM/REBAR enabled?
Would The real Slim shady please stand up
something is wrong here how is the 4080 slower than 7900xt in 15 games not possible
It's not? It's 4 FPS faster, unless you mean the XTX, in which case, blame Call of duty, where it's massively ahead so obviously skews the results in favour of AMD.
AMD cards have a hardware scheduler and are essentially always faster when cpu bound IE 1080p. The 7900xt is generally closer to a 4080 than it is to a 4070ti though as well.
Is 650w is enough for 7800 xt?
I use evga 650w supernova..
When i calculate it it's supposed to be enough
7800xt 275w (lets make it 300 worst spike)
R7 5700x 65w
Msi b550 a pro with 32gb ddr 4 (idk how much 100w?)
Total its like 465w
Total divided by 8/10 for 80% psu rating, its like 581..
@@Spillow-C
I got my psu brand new 3 months ago 😅
I ask this question because i dont want spend amother hundreds $ for another psu..
Many people said its enough, but internet said 7800xt min 700watt psu..
Ps: 6800xt consume LOT more power than 7800xt
@@Rizalpahlevi21 yeah its probably barely enough, if its not enough do a bit of undervolt and it should be fine, try turn off all the leds too
I threw a 650w Corsair gold PSU with a R7 1700X and 7800XT and it ran fine.
Im using Fortron gold PSU 650w. With mpeg B550 moth. Ryzen 7 5800x3d and saphire 7800xt nitro, works perfektly fine.
Has anyone tested 7800XT on ARK Survival Evolved and also how's the overall performance ?
Gnne pair my i7 9700 with nitro + 7800xt. wil come in a few days cant wait !
Match it with a 3d cpu chip and you kick this list above in benchmarks. 🔥🔥
Sticking with my RX 5700 XT until Ray Tracing is sorted, Ray Tracing has gone quiet, remember TeraFlops, it's all about Frame Generation now.
Add timestamps
my nitro+ 7800XT IS CONSTANTLY RUNNING HOT AT 74 pls help
That’s not hot.
@@eTeknix im use to my gpu running cool i had an rtx 3060 and it never reached above 60c
Just bought an Asus Tuf 4070 ti and I regret nothing. The 7800xt shows great performance for the price. They cut down on compute units this time around but it doesn't seem to affect it too much and 16gb is huge for people.
That’s what I keep going back to I’m just not sure it’s worth the price difference 😂
@leeroyjenkins9992 if you can wait wait I guess. But me I'm in patient af. Asus Tuf 4070 ti is a super solid card. Efficient, quiet, powerful.
@@liquidsunshine697 all the stores around here had it back in stock today except the white ones which in trynin to do an all white build of course 😂
Won't buy an expensive GPU because says Nvidia. 😂
impressive cp2077 performance, 4070 and ti dead meat
Why am I seeing a RTX 3080 beating a RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 Ti then a RTX 4070 Ti beating a RTX 4080 by 60 fps?????
Use timestamps. This is the 2020's, not the early 2000s.
We've added timestamps 👍
11:48 I'm here for the 7800 xt data, but the 7800 xt is not in the 3rd spot here... your graph is wrong.
Same thing here 13:53 with the 3090 ti having better 1% lows, but below it. And also the 6800 xt vs 3080. You should make a secondary sorting stat for the 1% lows as they're arguably more important that the max fps anyway.
c in fr please ?
How does a 3080 beat a 3090 lol crazy. Thanks for sharing your testing
You mean at 1080p? CPU bottlenecks.
Think I may have to do a video on it soon.
1440p in some
just grabbed one for 509 quid.. you are right tho the price is still trash when you compare it to the 6800xt .. only reason i got this one was rdn3 and av1
Thats it.. i just paid for a 3yr old card with av1 lol woot!.. (sarcasm)
adm must do better.. and dont get me started on team green.
wow the 4060 8 GB beats it in flight simulator
RX 7000 gpu drivers are ABYSMALL...
5 % increase over the 6800- no thanks
A nice 1080 CoD card
Your comparisons are not good. İ am here to choose nitro or xfx, not here for nvidia bullshit cash grab
What are you talking about?
"RTX fifty seventy"
Rdna= Hdr off😢
Ur 3090 its broken, 3080 and 3080Ti win in all games, no sense.
3090 less fps than 3080 12gb? Wtf
3080 12gb is the faster card. 3090 has more memory but also runs hotter so doesn’t keep its boost for as long. Generally you’ll see on average about 1% between them which could be deemed as margin of error.
