Hello Tim, I must say you explain the concepts in a precise manner. The videos are packed with only quality insights. I am grateful to be able to access your knowledge. Besides you also introduced me to other worthy youtube sources sqlbell & Data with Baraa. Thank you for adding so much value through your channel.

Hey Tim, can you link the Superstore dataset you're using for this video?

    • @TableauTim

It’s in your documents folder under tableau / tableau prep / data sources.

Hi Tim, love your videos! So useful! I was wondering how can i do a refresh to the Source data published to a server, it unioned files from a folder in Onedrive. I have saved the hyper file from Tableau Prep and published as Data Source. But it does not seem to update when new files are added. I click on "refresh Data Source" but nothing. I have files added to specific folder regularly, so want to automate that step if possible. Maybe you would have some advise?

Tableau server or online requires the data management add on to enable you to schedule prep flows on the server. In you're current setup you'll have to just manually runt he refresh and publish it in prep. Refresh data source only works on live databases where extracts are enabled or data sources linked to prep flows that have themselves been published. You can read more here: help.tableau.com/current/prep/en-us/prep_conductor_schedule_flow_task.htm

@@DebayanKar7 Ah so in Tableaus capability csv files open in excel i guess you want excel-like formatting and tabs / sheets similar to Alteryx export to excel files. That's not possible just yet

You didn't put any files for us to work on? Sorry, going to another video where there are files for us to work on.

Okay no worries enjoy the videos. 👌🏾. If you watch the first video of this series you’ll realise the files are provided and I explain how to get them in pretty much every video. I’m also explaining concepts so it’s not a deal breaker, you could for example try the same steps on your own data and ask questions here if you get stuck. 🙌🏾 but no worries.
