One of the things this VLOG has taught me is how often I miscalculate the size of the pot playing live. Don't ask me why but in H1 I thought my £70 was 75% pot. At least once a session I completely butcher calculating the pot size in my head. Other than that, hope you guys enjoy!
I’ve played about 5k hours of live poker in my career playing various stakes anywhere from 1/2 to 25/50. Any time I’ve seen someone tank for a very long time on the turn or river then raise it has been >90% strong value and thats being generous. In this specific scenario with your JJ hand I think its a clear fold. You have a few things working against you here. Turn raises(especially IP in a 3bet pot where ranges are already quite condensed) are just so very nutted in live poker. The board is quite dry so its not as easy to find natural bluffs. Lastly this long tank plus raise on the turn screams “i know its probably better to trap but i cant bring myself to do it.” Long tank plus raise is essentially a hollywood so I usually treat it as such.
RE: the pocket jacks hand. I can’t find many bluffs at all on that specific board. For that reason, unless I know my opponent well enough to understand that they are capable of blasting off with relative air, my default decision is to fold.
£3 has more purchasing power in the UK than $5 in the US for many things, so that makes some sense. Some economists like to use the Big Mac index, with one Big Mac costing about three quid in the UK and about six bucks in the US. 1/1 and 1/2 are more popular for the fun players in the UK.
KsQ on JsTs5s, big tell by you on the flop when checking your cards. If they were suited you would know. Therefore, you can never have a flush and your opponent can start bluffing. One of the most common tells in live games.
@tommyfu9271 No they don't! When a player flops a strong hand, he does everything he can to be as inconspicuous as possible and therefore never looks at his cards. 101 of poker tells
Like the folds pre flop. I know I can get very frustrated when I’m feeling card dead and everytime I get a half decent hand a nit re raises me huge. But some sessions are just about minimising losses and then when you finally have the hands it’s payday.
I think fold to the raise when you have JJ. The half all-in is scarier on that monotone board then a jam. A jam could be 99 or TT that doesn't want to call and see a bad river but they're never clicking it back with those hands. 64 is a double gutter that got there but most likely he has a set. What's villains range that calls the initial raise then calls your 3bet? Lot of pocket pairs.
lmao the outtro 😅 As for the JJ hand I find tank bluffs pretty rare, compounded with the live aspect and having peoples eyes on you I think most players after a certain amount of time has gone by would shy away from bluffing, probably thinking that their bluff would seem less credible. 🤷♂
From my understanding by watching you play live poker for a while now and seeing you lose big pots in such stupid ways.. I think you have adapted very well to the live games you play right now and by watching the sheer discipline you showed this video.. Im honestly impressed! The year will be good if you continue like that. And for the JJ hand.. Look.. let’s not overthink it here. Its a 1/3 game.. your opponent has called on a dry flop and re raised on a pretty much blank turn.. If you play your 99 and TT like that my dude.. hats off because in the long run you’re burning money *on the Live tables* and jacks are so behind to all his value like QQ KK AA, and even if he is bluffing with AK… he has outs (but I really wouldn’t think he would play his AK that way) so jack become a very bad bluff catcher in my opinion in this given situation.. I mean i never see people bluffing like this on the lower stakes.. They are just not as capable and creative as you give them credit sometimes.. Im very curious of the fact that you said shoving and folding are the only options, because imo shoving doesn’t do much here.. I mean there are no draws.. So what does shoving really achieve you know what I mean? But let me know what you think of the hand 🤔 Wish you all the best for the upcoming sessions Gazy 🍀
I appreciate the feedback! If I just call there is about £1100 in there with £300 behind. If my opponent somehow has a draw or 1p I just wanna commit it. It’s not like I ever fold the river.
love the vids as always gary , not a huge fan of going back to hands after you’ve shown half of them , like to keep up to date with how the session is going as can affect how you play future hands . much love as always bud
I think the JJ hand is very player dependent, could he be spazzing out with 99 or A8. I’m leaning towards folding because you beat no value and in struggling to find any bluffs that make sense. Having said that he shouldn’t be playing any hand that beats you this way so his play feels off
@@garyblackwoodpoker ha! Not even close, but I’m 49 so I grew up playing more live than online. I’ve honed the live tells pretty well, I’d say. Thanks anyways for the e compliment. You really kept running into it this sesh. I’m an avid watcher and fan, and I respect your style and thinking process! Keep it up!
I think you can actually call, and rely that villian will not bluff river, and have enough showdown value to call in the case of pro bluffs. think its a shove when there's a flush draw possible, but I think realistically the only hand you gain ev by shoving vs calling is 67, because with the other bluff combos (45,43,56) I think he will not fold for the extra 300 on most rivers. Anyway - folding vs call/shove - I think fold, unless very capable good opponent, I think he is not doing it with 54, 55, 56, 43, 44, 66 ever, so it is either set, weird straight or 67. He can have all the sets, so - 12 combos that you got 5 percent, and 4 combos that you have 84% - not good enough. If you treat it as a shove, your pot odds are even worse - so I think its a fold
I would have jammed but I think after tanking for 2 mins with a bluff he'd just think he's now taken too long and looks too weak so wouldn't, he could have a hand like 99/TT/A8 though that decides to raise to deny your overcards though so idk tough spot
Ugh just one of those sessions, Gazzy...you'll catch heat soon :) Btw, you inputted the wrong casino in your poker tracker - it says the Hippo right now haha.

so weird that the black chips are only 25...I wondered why you used so many of them to put him all in insted only 3...when he only has 250 behind...but since they are only 25s it of course makes sense...
I think you’re playing a lot better in this game more discipline!! I currently only play low stakes 1/1 maybe 1/2 live. Playing a strong solid game seems to be the best way
Jj ez fold ppl don’t raise spot like that as a bluff in live poker and if they do it’s a special type Ike a VIP or new player that has no clue what he’s doing. Reg just don’t bluff enough to make this a profitable call. I can’t believe you went for it…

Double checking your hole cards is such an amateur move because nobody does it when they have two suited cards. Look at your cards one last time after the preflop action is done and remember them for the rest of the hand.

Hi Mum!
Had so much fun playing in this game even though the results definitely didn't go my way! Class vlog as always mate ❤
Damn london 1/3 is so much tougher than in the US 😂. This seems the equivalent of a tougher 2/5 game here lol
Yeah it was a tough 1/3, sometimes the games are great though, you’ll see next week 😂❤️
