    I bought this splitter in Jan 2018 as a replacement for my old 22 ton Husky that was worn out. The cycle times are as advertised and it splits everything I throw at it. I have split over 50 cords with it since Jan and have put over 200 hours on it with zero issues. I really like the taller wedge, because it gets through the stringy stuff a lot better. I split all hard woods, pecan, hickory, live oak, post oak, ash, mesquite and it splits it all.

    Very nicely done video comparing the two splitters! I was leaning towards the 40 ton before I watched your clip, and now I'm ready to go buy it after watching! AWESOME splitter! Thanks for taking the time to share!👍👍😎

    One thing people overlook with the 40 ton is the 10 gallon hydraulic fluid tank. 25 ton has a 4 gallon tank. 30 ton 6. You can do much more splitting before the fluid gets too above 180 degrees.

    Thanks for the efficient review.... I have saved for months to get that exact splitter and I reserved one today after watching your video. I knew the Kohler motor was going to be good to go but I wondered about the machine in its' entirety. Thanks again

    Thanks for the EXCELLENT and thorough video and review. We've been looking at a lot of splitter's, have narrowed it down to a County Line. Can't make up our mind whether the 25, 30, or 40 ton.Then 40 ton weighs about 200 lbs. more than the 30. Might just spend more and get the 40, nothing wrong with overkill. Thanks again, really enjoyed the video !

      Hey thanks for the comment! Yes we really do recommend and love the 40 ton splitter! It is so much faster, easier and more productive to split with! :)

    I own the new 40ton County line with 9.5 cycle time sold by tractor supply and all I can say is for the price it is a beast ! cycle times are true as advertised ! and its chassie is heavy duty and sturdy !!!! if your looking for a budget splitter and don't wanna or cant spend $5000 plus on a top of the line splitter . this is the one to buy ! I don't think you could even build it for what they sell for

    Nice comparisons. Didn't mention price difference though. For most everyone 28 Ton is plenty at much lower cost. I did notice the guard over the engine on 40 T. Nice. I picked up a near new Huskee 35 T for half new. Little garden tractor is the ticket for moving around.

    NEED TO PUT A 4 WAY SPLITTER ON THERE THAT WILL MAKE IT LOT FASTER

    • @smartass6071
      @smartass6071 5 лет назад

      No a 4 way will only slow you down. I know you wouldn't think so but it will. The 9.5 sec cycle time is plenty fast enough to keep you humping and you wouldn't want to work any faster. These are not designed to use a 4 way wedge and can lead to breakdowns.

    What is the Bore size of that cylinder? Looks to be 5 inch and at the "advertised" max pressure of 3800 PSI that is 37 tons. I'd like to see someone put a gauge on one of these to see if it even gets to that 3800 PSI. I'd be surprised if it does. Just a pet peeve of mine that they advertise stuff that just isn't there. I may be wrong if the sizes are bigger than stated but it looks like smoke and mirrors to me. Not slamming you or your video here as you do a good job showing it. My beef is with companies and their false claims to mislead consumers. Hydraulics is cut and dried, Know the pressure and bore size and it's there. GPM doesn't matter as that is just a speed aspect.

    • @tobyh3681
      @tobyh3681 4 года назад +1

      Late to this party, but it's a 5.5" bore on the 40 ton cylinder.

    • @JRHAWK9
      @JRHAWK9 3 года назад +2

      I put a 3,000 psi gauge on mine thinking it would be enough. As it was set at the factory, it completely buried the gauge. Stopped when it was a bit over 3,000 psi. I now have my DCV relief set to 3,300PSI (actual 34tons, it has a 5 1/8" bore according to the manual). Also adjusted the pumps relief up quite a bit, so the ram does not slow down (go to the second stage) nearly as early. The engine has the power, so why not.

      @smartass6071 5 лет назад +1

      I have the 40 ton unit and it is a little heavier then a smaller unit, but It's a far better unit in every way. The 10 inch wedge on the 40 is one of the best improvements because it can split rounds clean without having to turn the round over and split it again to cut the stringy rounds all the way through. Get the 40.

      @@smartass6071 I bought mine a few months ago.
      It was at the store sitting by itself for sale because it was damaged.
      New it was selling for 2,100.
      The pump blew a seal out of it the knife had the look like it was used once before it blew the seal.
      I bought it for 1,000.
      Called the service department number and talked to them and they sent me a new pump free.
      Iv used it to split tandem dump truck load already.
      The speed of that splitter and the power it has splitting is awesome.
      And I to never had one issue with it at all.

    Is the hydronic tank big enough so the ram dose not get hot happens to one before guy added an extra hyd tank.ie ram was too bid for the system

    • @ddranch1365

      No the “hydronic” tank does not over heat the system and doesn’t have too high of a “bid”. It works just fine and doesn’t overheat. Also comes with a oversized expresso tank!

    You need a more clever device or tool to handle the rounds . All this wrestling and bending in awkward positions must be exhausting.
    I have been experimenting over the years with various types of pickaroon style tools. It’s basically a regular axehandle with a head of some modest weight that has a steel point (a bit hooked).With a bit of practice you can drag and juggle your big pieces etc

    30 seconds is not worth the extra cost that you forked out. I have the 28 ton, same thing. No, it is not small like a 22 ton. This is something that you should not be in a hurry about. It gives you time to think about not getting hurt. I would take it back and get a refund.
