I Won't Hold You Back
Toto presents "With A Little Help From My Friends".
The performance captures one special night on November 21, 2020 when Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams and David Paich appeared with the new line-up of TOTO for a global event originating from Los Angeles, CA. Joining Lukather, Williams and Paich for this next chapter in their indelible history are new band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note / Snarky Puppy), and keyboardist / background vocalist Steve Maggiora (Robert Jon & The Wreck). Keyboardist Dominique “Xavier” Taplin (Prince, Ghost-Note) and multi-instrumentalist / vocalist Warren Ham (Ringo Starr) segued over continuing their tenure in the ensemble. This marks the fifteenth incarnation of the TOTO line-up in consideration of band members or sidemen who joined or exited.

Lukey is a GENIUS. How can one person be good at so many things? Songwriting, producing, guitar slaying, incredible voice. The man is blessed.
Toto has one of the best catalogs of music. Great band should have been in the rock and roll long time ago.
Hope Luke is proud of himself , he’s kept this band alive for so many years. A musical genius in my eyes. My now husband introduced me to Toto in the mid eighties at 15 years of age, we have now been Married for 34 yrs & realising just how long we’ve loved this band. Well done guys the success you’ve always deserved still shines on ❤❤
34 yrs . Hmmm, the TOTO song for you and your husband should've been "I THINK I COULD STAND YOU FOREVER" It's on TOTOS 3rd album TURN BACK. David Paich wrote it. Lukather sings it . Bobby Kimball has a part ad lib towards the end. It's a great love song 🎵. I'm sure your husband is familiar with that one . 😃
"we have now been Married for 34 yrs & realising just how long we’ve loved this band." congratulations
I was playing this on tape in 1984. Now, in 2023, I am 60 years old. Eamon in Ireland 🇮🇪
3:31 Toto for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Yesssss
Agree!!!
They're not in it already??? That's stupid
MOST DEFINITELY!!💯
I hope the "tall hats" of the Hall of Fame feel real shame, for not inducting Toto into it.
Without shadow of a doubt THE most under appreciated and most underrated guitar player/song writer of that generation. Luke, one of a kind.
"Underappreciated and underrated"? You must not be a guitar player.
@@MrNamePerson been playing since I was 6 years old, in terms of household names and the mainstream, Luke is underrated.
he is famous, many modern guitar players influenced by his tone, technique and guitar playing
@@MrNamePerson Spot on. And he's certainly not underappreciated OR underrated amongst his peers.
His outro guitar solo on Lionel Richie's Running With the Night is epic.
@@wavydave490 Thanks. I agree, that solo is one of my favorites.
At least three Grammys, countless interviews and accolades... He's a household name in my house. 😆
Luke is a living legend!!! Forever Toto! ❤🤘🎸🔥👊
This is the best song from the eighties compared to the music of today it has an awesome beat to it.
Yet it's not in the setlist for the current tour.
And the band (especially Luke) sounds as good or better, than 1982...
40 years later, Luke still refuses to just call it in. A real musician.
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here
same here, I like the rusty voice, it’s so genuine and of course it takes the whole group altogether to sound legitimate
Of course he sounded better when he was younger but i'd say his voice has aged nicely. Luke has always sounded good.
Thats soul
I remember meeting Luke at The Baked Potato back in 1982. What an incredibly humble and gracious person he was that night.
I've met him a couple of times and he is a lovely man.
Toto is composed of highly talented musicians. They deserve to be inducted in the Rock 'n Roll HOF.
Luke is a legend 👏🏻
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
Lukather (not like autocorrect) is so underrated it’s criminal. I’ve always loved his voice, he’s the reason I became a Toto fan way back when they recorded their first album. ❤❤❤
The RRHoF is a joke for ignoring Toto.
Luke is an absolute complete musician, guitar chops ..check , songwriting...check , and has a great voice.. checkmate , it doesn't get any better than this , what beautifully crafted song .
Today my daughter left the UK to study in USA for 2 years. Listening to tunes that keeps me connected with her. This is a beauty!!!! Always loved Toto. Now I would have introduced a nwe fan to Toto. My daughter in Chicago. Nothing holds you back dear
Very VERY nice live version of one of my favorite Toto songs. Mr. Lukather has a great singing voice. His guitar abilities are sublime. Did he leave any talent for the rest of us? OUTSTANDING!
I love Toto's music! 💜
Mr. Lukather is beyond brilliant in both guitar and vocals. A master musician.
I still love you, little bother.
Dec 2023 and still listening to Toto daily (since their first album “Toto”)
To write, sing, and play that guitar solo all in the same song is ridiculous. Amazing. I’ve always thought that about this band and Lukather especially
I love that Luke plays the guitar with his heart and soul. ❤️
In a career of epic guitar solos, you will find none better at melding raw emotion with soaring musicality than this guitar break. Pure simple genius!
This is one of those groups you hear on the radio and never get tired of listening to!!!
DAMN, that boy can sing
Listening to this song lets me know that only the soul knows how fragile the memory of the heart is.💔💔
How gorgeously and graciously put, Ale
Perfection. The band (especially Luke) sounds as good or better than when this song came out in 1982.. Great harmony. 😎
Born in 62, welcoming 2024. this song gives me a better understanding of the choices I made at that time in my life.🫶
Hell yes. Uk tour pls. I want to shake your hands and get on one knee. I’m not worthy of such amazing music. Luke your are a King of souls
One of the MOST beautiful songs ever heard
Yes
Yes, sir
One of the most beautifull and powerfull Rock ballads of all time.
Toto still the same incredible band, one of the best of all times!
Steve Lukather. One of the best guitar musicians and one of the best vocalist in my opinion. Damn. Dude can sing. Dude can rock the electric guitar. Dude is a legend in my book. Thanks for all the great music and great memories bro. God bless Steve.
Thanks Steve, David & Co! A rougher version than the original but obviously great in its own right.
Steve, even if your too humble to admit it, you are up there with the greatest musician and songwriters of all time !!! 🙏🎼♥️
4:21 a heavy Dustin Diamond on keys and a plump Leif Garrett on backup vocals lady and gentlemen. One hell of a tune and cocaine’s one hell of a drug beeooccchhhh.
When All the vocals come in on the chorus, it's breathtaking
I remember the night this came out, Things were really tense and I had smoked a couple bowls and sat in my chair as I remember getting chills from how amazing everyone sounded. I saw Toto in 2018 after a bad situation had happened and despite the memory I share it for how amazing the show was.
They still the best band for me. Love Steve Lukather and Toto 💖💖💖. God bless and stay safe.
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
OMG….the vocal harmonies here….🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️ still one of my fave band all the time!!!
I remember couples slow skating at the Roller Rink to this song 37 years ago.... Amazing those feeling all came back.... Truly Special
Still one of the best guitar soli of Rock History
I have said this on pretty much every RUclips upload of this song that I have seen, but am going to say it again. THIS is the song a 4 year old kid heard when a family member played the Toto IV album that captured her & made her a fan for life. It was just a beautiful haunting song then that she was too young to understand the lyrics to, but came to mean more to her as an adult than I could ever explain. And for the 500th time, I know Steve Lukather will never see this, but I want to thank him for it. You still sound AMAZING singing/playing it, my heart cries & rejoices no matter how many times I hear it & I hope you are playing it for many, many more years. ❤️
I feel like a shitty Toto fan, I didn’t know Lukather was such a good singer, he even nailed the high notes at 2:50 like a boss, I freakin had to rewind and listen to it again, well done sir!
This is from what I've heard over the years but he's definitely been working on his voice. Around 2016/17 his voice was a little off at times but lately he's just been rocking it! Has definitely improved!
@@nicholassekulski3393 I thought the same thing. In recent years it has been very gravelly and mumblely. When I heard this performance my first thought was, "He's been doing some vocal work.". This took me back to 1990s Lukather.
pls watch this: ruclips.net/video/PXfUdnmO1oM/видео.html&start_radio=1&ab_channel=UmbertoCarola
Steve's peak as a vocalist was in Tambu. Good to hear though that his voice got a lot more stable now. Jason Williams' improvement though is mind-boggling.
@@jeremygonzal8603 Joseph Williams and yes he sounds great
Total bliss achieved @ 3:32.
Luke, you still got it! Amazing!
🎤Steve Lukather, my idol please take care of that God given talent to you!!!! I'm speechless and keep the music Alive...
Just in the middle of reading Steve’s book..Gospel according to Luke…great read so far, making me go through the Toto catalog
One of those songs for me that unlocks so many memories and emotions with the first cords. Amazing how it transforms me back, holds so much meaning for me. Thank you.
Thinking this band sounds as good, or better than the original (those harmonies in the choruses, and the drummer...omg, killer, thanks for getting this current group together, and for sticking with what makes your heart smile...awesome ❤
The line up keeps changing but the sound is still there.
I love Toto. I have loved this band since the very beginning.
With all the amazing Talent Lukathier has, yet he appears to be a very humble man. He’s got to be one of the best guitar players of our time, playing with such emotion. I could listen to much of Toto’s music and never tire of it.
Powerful Ballad from Toto IV album , written and sung by Steve Lukather which topped the Contemporary Adult Chart, their first #1 on that tally,. I renember setting the volume of our radio to maximum whenever i hear it played way back in highschool. The guitar solo part evokes emotion that’s so heartrending. It’s like the guitar strings are sadly quivering with Luke’s every touch, sending across perfectly the emotion , the song wants us to feel. If there’s a record for the most heartwrenching rock guitar solo, this one would surely be among the top choices.
I agree. ❤
Thanks Steve. Keeping it alive and keeping it real.
And to think all these years David Gilmour has been emulating Steve Lukather!!!
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
The one and only Sir Luke Guitar Hero of all guitarist Steve Lukather🎸♥️
A very talented and artistic artist that probably doesn’t get the credit he rightful deserves. Recently I watched him be interviewed that he was a studio musician like Glen Campbell who was a great musician. Studio musician are a breed apart they figure what a some songs might require to be truly great and last for eternity. My vote is for this guys future success and listening to him describe his challenges and his perseverance we should listen and take heed.
You are wonderful, I look forward to seeing you in person on November 24th here in Brazil, welcome friends, we love you. Fábio Andrade (Fabão)
After all these years he still gives me goosebumps. He is amazing to say the least.
Toto band is my top favorite band of all time
This guy is such a fabulous musician. One of my favorites. Keep rocking Luke.
What a beautiful song..🎹😭
Steve Lukather, one of the Best musicians ever!
Steve has played alongside the great Glen Campbell and is so respected among so many others in the music world! He's such a truly talented artist!
I love this song. The tone of the piano is so beautiful. The guitar solo and chorus are also great. I'm happy to hear this song. Thank you so much, TOTO🎵🌷🌹🌷🎹🎸🎤👍👏👏👏👏👏
Makes the hair stand up on my neck the fellas still being able to do the bizz
I love your voice Steve!! The greatest ever!!!
It is always surprising me when Luke plays Jazz toghether with Lary Carlton. Absolutley amazing and no tricks
That song save my couple! Thanks Luke!!!!
Classic, amazing tune! I think Steve is so underrated, he's freakin amazing guitarist!
This song once had meaning to me. Now not so much. I still like the song but it doesn't strike the emotions it once did. It's a part of my past and we must grow up at some point in time. I don't want to but I'm no longer a toys are us kid. If ToTo ever reads this,Thank you for the memories.
God I love this song. Just beautiful. Grew up listening to Toto in the 80s. What amazing times.
Love this song too. Luke doesn’t sound the best on it imho.
Absolutely amazing live version of a song that was great to begin with, done here even BETTER live. Steve Lukather is a guitar god, and Toto - even with all of their dizzying band member changes over the decades - STILL has it. I would definitely see them live if I get the chance to do so.
Steve lukather, best vocalist and guitarist ever!
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here
i never get tired of listening to him sing and play.
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here

19/1/2023 ... still listening this song... TOTO the best band 80's ...
Love this man. I wish I have that raspy of the voice. It really adds emotion to the song
One of the greatest songs of all time
Still got it Luke! 🤗
What a beautiful song...! I never can get enough of this song!
My favorite romantic rock song - You still are The Boss Luke !
Luke is the man! I love this song.
Fantastic. And Warren Ham is a beast who fits right in with the legacy of Toto. Dude does it all. And does it well.
damn he still sounds great after all these years
Beautiful song, beautifully sung, beautifully played....perfection right there.
👌🏿
I love this song. One of my favorite songs ever.
I never realized how many great songs Toto has. I always thought this song was Chicago.
wow you are eternal. still here
almost like you are :)
Steve (ToTo) is a legend!!
This has to be the most beautiful song Toto has.
Never enough Toto!
I love this song. I have always listened to it with my soul. A real masterpiece
@toto you are one of the best! All the Filipinos love your songs.
At the same key, wow
Really like Steve's crunchy lead tone!
What do you say to that ? Remarkable. Luke, has it ALL !! Outstanding job. Love the feel/touch on that ending guitar. Band / vocals top notch. Another outstanding generation of Toto. NEVER disappoints.
