that's what' so cool about this show, it wasn't too scripted and that showed in the final product. This is what I loved about the show, at a time when everything seemed so fake, here was this show that showed more realness, at a time when everything seemed so fake.
@jayrobson88 He writes the stuff Triumph does and he probably contributed to the clutch cargo stuff that he participated in. He may not have been a staff writer anymore, but that counts as writing. Plus as the former head writer, he would probably have some interesting things to contribute with regard to the early history of the show.
Yeah, but this isn't a drama or sitcom. There is no real "cast". This show is fueled by the writers and Conan's personality as a host. I sincerely doubt you're missing anything by not seeing Joel or Max. They'd be boring and have nothing to add to this discussion. Robert Smigel would be great (Triumph) though as himself. I mean come on - you can't bring the masterbating bear to the Paley Center.
The television Conan doesn't want to be a part of sounds exactly like Jay Leno's method of television.

Did he say "ostriches in astronaut suits" at the end?

@jenfine Why would Robert Smigel have been on? He hasn't been a writer on the show since the mid-90s.

Why is that weird? They don't write or produce the show. They would have nothing to offer to this panel.
