The OneUps - Volume 1 (OUS-004)
"Koopa Beach
(S. Oka)
From the Super Mario Kart Video Game
This sounds exactly like a track the would be in Mario Kart 8. Outstanding work.
Glad you dig it. Did you hear the Daft Punk version we did on our Super Mario Kart Album? ruclips.net/video/tl8Sv1CVlaE/видео.html
@@TheOneUps WHAT A DAFT PUNK VERSION???
Great, now I'm pissed off that it isn't
It’s probably the sax, Mario Kart 8 loves the sax
You're right!! What a soothing race...
such an underrated track. can't believe nintendo hasn't remixed this one yet.
So good we had to do it twice to make up for Nintendo's transgressions. Thanks for listening!
Leave it to the fans to do that. Improvization lets you do things limitations don't.
Indeed!
Right on!
@@TheOneUps Holy, you guys didn't abandon your RUclips channel, AND you joined in 2006!? That's commitment! :D
This deserves more views
yep
It does.
Indeed
I'm picturing myself at a Jazz Club where video games are mainly about everything, What a world!
10 years later, totally and unequivocally undefeated as the best rendition of this track.
Finally a remix of this that isn't dubstep
We made this before Dubstep was even a genre. Otherwise, we would have made it Dubstep ;) Thanks for listening!
so great... even the big band on my wedding played it. great guys, both of them
Really captures the feeling of the beach quite well.
I know this was a couple years ago, but...
3:01 *OOOOOOOOOOOOH, those notes!*
I love that part.
Lol more than a couple - almost 20! Thanks for listening!
I'm listening to this while making... LOTS A SPAGHETTI!
Hahahaha
:D
One thing I really like about your remixes is how you guys incorporate your own original/improvised additions to the song to prevent the original melody from growing stale and repetitive. It's like this is a remix of the full, unreleased song while the original had the stuff in between the choruses cut due to limitations, it fits that naturally.
Thank you! That is such a great compliment. We really appreciate it! Thanks for listening!
@@TheOneUps Your version of Dire, Dire Docks is probably the best example of it (that I've listened to), it often feels more like an original song than a remix of another one. When I try to recall the song in my head and compare it against original, I find it difficult to find the parts that are from the original. While difference in key (I assume, don't know much about music theory), pacing, structure, and instrumentation might be part of that, I think the amount of original content is what sets it so far apart. It truly is a remix, using elements of the original to make something new, as opposed to a cover which is just essentially the same song with a different performer/instrumentation. You guys are so talented, it really is a shame you've apparently been shunned by the algorithm, which is honestly rather strange considering your content (high quality, relaxing jazz remixes of iconic VGM) and how long you've been at it. You seem like the kind of channel that would be a long-running, iconic mainstay like Smooth McGroove, yet it seems the odds never went that way. Oh well.
Anyways, you guys are amazing, keep at it.
I decided to check this one out after searching for Super Mario jazz covers- this one is by far the greatest, and a real pleasure to listen to. Best 4:03 minutes spent in my life.
Thanks! We have SO many more!
I love how much depth and originality you intertwine with each classic video game cover. Your solos are amazing and I can really feel the emotion you put in your music.
Thanks! We've come a long way since this was recorded in 2002!
@@TheOneUps i wasn't even born yet 💀
lulz
This past Christmas, my mother revealed to me and my older siblings that, in celebration of all of us getting older and going off into the world (high school class of 2020 anyone?), she made all our own playlists on the Spotify app, with a list of songs and why they were there. Apparently "Koopa Beach" was included, and I was interested to see what version and why it was there.
As it turns out, it's a callback to my tortoise, me loving Mario Kart to death, and me enjoying the summer all in one fell swoop. I had to do a bit of digging to find the exact music video my mother found for me, and, well, here I am now. I once mistakenly said the N64 version was growing on me since Christmas, and while that's technically true, I apparently actually meant this one.
Funny how one parent can solely define your love for a Mario Kart stage, huh? (Edit: I never got to say "I like your work" before now. You earned a subscriber-)
Sounds like you got yourself a pretty good mom. Cherish her, and glad you're here jammin' with us!
Oooh cool this is the song they use for the teleporter room in I Wanna Be The Boshy
cool hearing this again o3o
:3
This song is the epidemy of good vibes. There's something about that just makes it inherently...happy.
#goodvibesonly
can't stop listening to this
Sweet!
Today I had the SNES version in my head and set out to find a cover of this song that had EXACTLY this treatment of it. Thank you for creating something this awesome.
You're welcome! Check out our third album, "Super Mario Kart Album," where we arrange the whole soundtrack, including another Koopa Beach! (but we forgot to do the end credits music whoops!)
Let's see if they've done anything to the Mario Circuit, Donut Plains or RainBow Road.
Oh my GOD THIS NEEDS MORE VIEWS. 1 MILLION VIEWS EVEN
1:19 Dang, what notes?? Such a good solo entrance
wow. This is so good....sounds so excellent!!! Great job y’all.
Thanks, yo!
I love this song. I was just listening to it today and then it pops up in my youtube feed! What a coincidence!
Been listening to this on repeat while studying, love it :)
Thanks!
This is amazing! This may be one of my favorite jazz bands out there! Good job
+Leo Wing Thanks!
Gracias por hacer una excelente versión de una de mis canciones favoritas de videojuegos!
¡De nada! Mira - una mas - ruclips.net/video/tl8Sv1CVlaE/видео.html
Awesome cover here. Really not too shabby at all.
Thanks! We love this one so much we did it twice. And William, our classical guitar player, did his own, too. Find them both on this channel!
I hope this track gets added into the booster course pass and sounds almost exactly like this.
One can dream.
I absolutely need to know who played in this recording

this is really good, thank you for uploading this :)
It's Boshy Time!
went through some hard times few years ago, and would put this on repeat all the time. listening to it now brings back so many rough memories.....really hits hard
This is a tough song for me to listen to, as silly as it sounds. It's so happy and the jazz is exactly what I'd normally like to hear, but I remember it as the last song my dad heard as he lost to cancer.
He wasn't much of a video game player, even though he always wanted to be. His favorite games were those with cars and me being a Nintendo fanboy at the time I didn't have any realistic racing sim. The best I could do was load up Mario kart battle mode in single player and hand it to him to drive aimlessly around the different maps.
His favorite was this one that looked like a city from Italy. It would remind him of the days he travelled. We raced together every so often but he didn't like how it wouldn't go on forever so back to the battle map it would go.
I was inspired one day upon hearing this song to make a playlist of what I thought were the greatest pieces of music to exist. I wanted him to hear that playlist but he passed before he had the chance. The playlist is no longer up.
I remember though, this was the one song we listened to together on my last day of visiting him. It did a great job of making him happy.
I have to thank you guys for giving me one of my few good memories I have with my father, and more importantly for making the last time I saw him a better time than it would have been otherwise, so thank you.
That's a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing. We are truly honored to be a part of your story. We hope we can continue to be a part of your story as you grieve and as you find peace.
There are two more arrangements of this tune on this channel. One is more of an upbeat, albeit pensive groove, and one is centered around grief and loss for solo guitar. Seek them out should you so desire. Otherwise, we'll be here for you as long as we're allowed. All the best. ♥
Yeah this is the best one :D
I always loved this song, this is an awesome version even now in 2022
Thanks! This is the tune that started this band over 20 years ago!
@@TheOneUps are there any girls who helped? just curious lol
This doesn't feel up beat like the original. But my God is it soothing. Love this song so much
Hey, glad you dig it!
Every Year I rediscover this song. And everytime I listen to it, it hits just as good as it did the first time I heard it. Fav part will always be 2:00 and forward!
Glad you like it!
Asombroso amigos. Sigan así. Excelente trabajo.
¡Gracias!
If this track was in Mario Kart 8, it would sound like this
Pareil !
It sounds like a brazilian relaxing music....
Thank you!

How come i listen to the original soundtrack to this i barely get nostalgia, but when i listen to this... i get flashbacks on the SNES.
Because we're playing with POWER!
@@TheOneUps nintendo... power?..
Please make more like this please :)
We did! This is off our first album. Check out the other 9!
They should add Koopa Beach from SNES onto Mario Kart 9 and have this music. A jazzier version of the original, it'd be perfect
Thanks, we, too, would love that!
김갑환씨 당신덕분에 이 명곡을 알게됬습니다. 감사합니다.
Thanks for knew this song....
Glad you like it!
ㅋㅋㅋ 김갑환 그는 대체..
This is in my head as I am doing a light jog
Nostalgiaa
Nostalgia indeed, my friend. Many hours spent playing this game!
Thank you so much for this upload. I thought, i am the only one who just started the Koopa Beach and listen to the beautiful music. I remember, i never drove, i stood on the way xdd and listened... but the best thing is, that i love jazz! And so god gave me the favor to hear your version!
No, you're not the only one! In fact, this is the piece of music that started this band - the first thing we ever did. And we did another version on our Super Mario Kart Album - check it! ruclips.net/video/tl8Sv1CVlaE/видео.html
I love the way you advertising your channel! Charmingly, positive and lucky. Of course, i know those other songs, who are unterrated!! Jazz for the win, guys! Never stop!!
Dimmi quando tu verrai - dimmi quando, quando, quando...
I'm sorry but what else is there to say.....
OKAY THIS IS EPIC
Is there saxophone sheet music for this?
Somewhere out there is our sheet music book and this is in it. Not sure if someone's uploaded it online or not. Best of luck finding it! Better yet, learn it by ear!
+TheOneUps Thank you! :)
El solo del Sax usa el modo mixolidio de G? Gracias
Unbelievable.
Sheet music pls
One of the most remixed one ups songs
Wait imagine if this played when you go to the beach
You're saying that The OneUps' version of this tune is often remixed?
1:19 Stan Getz style!
there's something about koopa beach
Yes there is. ruclips.net/video/tl8Sv1CVlaE/видео.html
It also plays in Super Mario Vacation Wii
Samus Has A Secret Brought Me Here
Went and looked up this one. DEFINITELY one of the more interesting uses of our music! Would have thought to use our version of the Samus theme! ruclips.net/video/Sx9iGWc22x0/видео.html
@@TheOneUps Oh Wow
Does anyone know any tracks with similar a chord progression?
Lotta Latin music moves like this. For chill stuff, check out Celso Fonseca and Bebel Gilberto. For fast stuff, Arturo Sandoval: ruclips.net/video/HGB23GPegFM/видео.html
Darude Sandstorm :D
Final lap version : drive.google.com/file/d/14j8j7VnsFN6VkTpbUyn1gEF-Z3SxokFH/view?usp=drivesdk
its pefect in mario kart 8 remake track
What instruments are playing in this track. I'm making a transcription out of this
There are a lot of instruments. There's a ton of percussion that's not a full drum kit. It was pieced together. Then there is bass guitar, classical guitar, alto sax, violin, and soprano sax on the last solo. Hope that helps!
@@TheOneUps Thank you very much!
It's boshy time!
Remixed it!
Bossa nova
Actually, this is more of a Samba. We do love our Bossas, though. Here's one of our latest album - an arrangement of Celeste: ruclips.net/video/j0xdf6gMVNQ/видео.html

We out here, fam!
@@TheOneUps YESS!!
It's Boshy time!
You a real one
yeah i know!
Guys, don't know why you changed the chord at 00:39 compared with the original
may I use this in a video? credit will be given!
+even steven Yes! Thanks for the love!
I know a lot of people who when I say I love video game music just as much as any of the good music we have in common .. they look at me and go "that 'music' is just bleep bloop blerp crap". What they are missing is the fact that behind the beautiful 'bleep bloop' stuff they hear is beautiful music.
I've actually played something like this before, or a rock rendition and had them be like "who is this? this is awesome".. and then I tell them what it is and they try to backtrack and seem to not know how.
"that 'music' is just bleep bloop blerp crap".
And yet they probably listen to dubstep without batting an eyelash. So who are they to judge? :/
like t square great
Lemmy's Thought of the Day, anyone?
I'm listening when I'd liked to dance samba, xDDD!
