Super Mario World Overworld Theme - Big Band Jazz Ballad version (The 8-Bit Big Band)

- From the Super Nintendo classic, here is the "Overworld Theme from Super Mario World" in the style of the legendary Jazz Ballad "Lil Darlin" composed by Neil Hefti for the Count Basie Orchestra.
Note: The sharp eared listeners of The 8-Bit Big Band will recognize elements of this arrangement as sounding very similar to our recent arrangement of "Mabe Village" from Link's Awakening, this is because I actually conceived of this particular song in this arranging style first for our 4th album "Game Changer", but due to recording licensing issues was unable to include it on the album, and so I arranged "Mabe Village" instead with the same vibe and song form to take this tune's spot on the album in the exact same Jazz ballad style. The silver lining is now we have 2 west coast chill Jazz ballads of video game music classics in our library. Hope you enjoy :)

Oh my gosh, this is so hip. Not only would I never have thought this tune could be played as a ballad, but I never would have linked it to the feel of Neal Hefti's Li'l Darlin in my mind. You proved me wrong. Well done. Count Basie would be proud.
I have enjoyed many "nerdy" groups in my time, but you folk are the top of my list. I have greatly enjoyed all that you've done. Seeing you at Magfest last year was a blast.
So cool! I’m very curious though, was it intentional to use this specific variety of mutes, particularly in the trombone section, or was this kind of a “choose your own adventure”/whatever each player had on hand? If intentional, super cool way to subtly explore color palettes!
Was definitely intentional! I wanted the sombreness of the buckets in the bones and the roundness of the tuba. The trumpet section is half Harmon and half bucket but doubling each other. So only 2 notes in the trumpets but one of each mute type. Then you get the tone of the bucket but the buzz of the Harmon
