The 8-Bit Big Band: Could I ask a question before this place is swallowed by comments? How many people from the band actually manage the RUclips account? I just like knowing if it's plural or singular
By far, one of the BEST arrangements of this song I've ever heard! Everything is on point: The arrangement, the performance, the video editing, the sprites interacting on the screen. You can tell a lot of care and dedication was put into this and everyone probably had a blast making this video. I'm really looking forward to see more from you guys. This is absolutely amazing! The fact that you've already got more than 1000 subscribers with just ONE video already shows how good this is.
This song brought me back to when my dad and I used to play Super Nintendo. He passed October 1rst this year... but these memories and the nostalgia of such an amazing rendition of this song brought me to tears. So weird how music does that
I love the animations throughout the video! Also I like how you have Yoshi Ground Pound the Bandit instead of doing a simple jump, the attention to detail there! Music was wonderful as well! Love the jazzy style.
It's only natural and appropriate- Koji Kondo played in a jazz band before his gig with Nintendo and you hear it in most of his pieces. You also find a lot of classic ragtime parts in them too- same reason why the Cuphead team have some pieces that sound a lot like some SMW tunes despite having never heard the OST before- same sources of influence and same style being replicated.
Everything about this is unbelievable. The talent. The sound. The transposition. The fact that Yoshi was able to stomp Bandit to death at the 3 minute mark. Absolutely unbelievable.
Not sure if this makes me cry because it reminds me of a time I miss or because of Tom Brier having performed this masterfully...and him having gone through a horrible car accident that completely ruined his life... or both.
Holy shit this is so evenly mixed. Nothing gets overwhelmed. Every instrument sits in the mix and doesn't get drowned out. Great performances and studio techs makes for one hell of a good time. Hats off to everyone involved.
I think it's because it's a very well-balanced mix with dynamic sound. You can tell there's no compression on the tracks, which is why the sound is natural.
When you hear arrangements on this level of awesome, you understand how much of an outstanding composer Koji Kondo is. He's under appreciated only because he constrained his compositions to a couple bits.
I just found this baby wrapped up outside my door, A tasty little snack for any dinosaur. But I just finished breakfast, I'm full up to my head... So I'll give him to Yellow instead.
Okay... so here’s the fucking thing about Yoshi’s island athletic theme for a theory standpoint: definition of happiness. Music theory explains how to create tension, stress, drama, etc. in songs. The harmonics, resolution, upbeat tempo, pretty much EVERY FUCKING THING about this song is text book “how to make a song happy”. Seriously should be taught in music theory classes as an example of how to pull off a 1,4,5 and make it happy as fucking hell.
Just discovered this now, but man.... It's impossible not to smile while listening to this. Thanks for reminding me of a forgotten part of my gaming past.
Honestly, I wish this channel was so much more popular, like one of those "Huh, they have like 4 million subscribers yet I've never heard them before" channels you come across so often.
Reliving this soundtrack after Yoshi's Island was on the latest wave of expansion courses for Mario Kart for and MAAAAn, you guys knocked this out of the park!!
This is one of my favorite pieces of music from any game, so it’s always a joy to see a new cover of it. I think you guys have done the best job so far!
My god this is unbelievable! The arranging, the production, the musicians' talent! The hours of work in just the animation must have been countless. Staggering.
This is so beautiful! It made me super emotional. This was one of my favourite video games as a kid and listening to its music this way is a dream! And the cute animations with Yoshi, thank you!❤
I was about to say this deserves way more views (which it totally does) but then I was shocked to realize it just came out a short while ago! I'm so happy to see this game still gets the love it deserves! Keep playing!
It may have been Carlos who brought me here but let me tell you that you've earned this sub on your own merit. Just listened to your album and this is an incredible collection of musicians with some hot arrangements
I hope they get hired by Nintendo for remixes in the next Smash Bros. one day. Nothing fits smash better than the 8-bit Band complimenting Donkey Kong throwing you off the screen.

After hearing this tracks song in mk8 I don’t doubt he has
This song is likely the reason that "Yoshi's Island" in MK8 deluxe BCP exists.

Hi :>
jazz + ragtime= this masterpiece
I'd call this genre Dixieland or New Orleans-style jazz. It was the intermediate style between ragtime and swing.
