Honestly, as a South Korean, Iran is the team that we don't wanna fight against, cause it's basically a bit stronger team than Korea and Japan. Lucky we would not meet Iran. This will make an easier way for SK to go to final hopefully.
As an european who was neutral about this game i must give my compliments for both teams for this passionate fight. Iraqis you can be proud of the win and a passionate game. Iranian people you can be proud of an endless fight at the edge of physical possibilities. It was an amazing game, thank you both for that.

That wasn't fair, the referee killed Team Melli. We played 95 minutes with 10 players and this is the best proof of our high football level. However I wish for Iraq to be champion after this because they deserve it and further more I personally don't like to see one of the other three teams ( Australia, South Korea and UAE) become champion. That was one of the worst refereeing calls I've witnessed in my entire life. If the ref realized he made a mistake and forgot about the first yellow-card, he should have the authority to un-do his second yellow card. Being 1-man down changed the game immensely and it was obvious in how the Iranian team played from that point. I hope this game can be closely reviewed and the refs can learn from this mistake for the future, because Iran just got robbed.

Many thanks to Team Melli for playing such an intense game, and not relenting for one minute. It was a joy to be at the stadium, and experience the full gamut of emotions. Clearly, the ref was below par and had a score to settle against Iran. The bravery of the Iranian players, in fighting back again and again with 10 men, against an opposing side of 12 will live long in the memory as an example of passionate Persian pride. Pathetic souls like Williams have no place adjucating such immense games. The Asian Cup has reunited Iranians and I thank each and every one of them who went home with hoarse throats. Sad as it was, our love for the motherland is alive and well.
I`m not an Iranian but shame on this Australian ref,Shame,shame,shame on him,that wasn`t fair at all.
But really congrats to Iraq they are looking to the semi finals and hopefully they can win more and more

As we all know williams is an Australian ref and as an Australian, I felt that was not a deserved red card. Having said that, it is actually well within the refs rights to penalise fake dives which let's face it, is exactly what happened. The goalkeeper should have been penalised too though. Both teams put all their heart into this game and produced one of the most exciting matches i've watched in the AFC. Well done to both countries

As Korean-American, I was supporting Iraq because I will never forget 1993 when Iraq tied with Japan to knock Japan out of the World Cup qualifications while clinching Korea to the World Cup. We owe you big time. And as American, I am sorry for what my country has done to yours.
Good luck against us and even if Korea loses to Iraq, I won't feel bad bcz at least we didn't get knocked out by Japan, Iran, or Australia. I will support Iraq if Korea loses and Iraq goes to finals. Let's have a friendly semifinal game.

I actually respect Iran soccer, especially after you guys got Carlos Queiroz to reform. I'm actually fan of some of Iranian footballers, such as Mehdi Rahmati who unfortunately didn't get along with Queiroz but I like the fact that he brought all talented Persian players from different parts of the world around to reinforce and bolster the team, such as Reza Ghoochanejaad and Ashkan Dejagah, even MLS players like Steven Beitajour.
As much as Iran is our far distance rivals, I respect Iran football. I even hated 2013 and 2014 Korean team and felt that they deserved fist gesture from Carlos Queiroz after what that fucktard coach Choi Kwang Hee said to you guys since I would've done the same thing if I was Iranian/Persian.
Ben Williams knew Iran will win against South Korea and meet Australia in the final. That is why he whistled against Iranian team. He paved the way to Australia to win the cup. Iran was the only team that would cause them problem in the final.
Football fans are proud of Iran that with 10 men played 120 minutes with a referee who was against them, still took the game to the penalty shoot, which doesn't guarantee that the better team will win. Japan also lost to a weaker team today by penalty. Well done Iranian team and his coach.

Iraq deserved to win this match they played an awesome match and deserved to win it against Iran.
for people saying that dude doesn't deserve a yellow card then you are stupid.. If you understand the soccer/football rules then you should know that you should not get in contact with a goalie after he catches it... You can see that the goalie caught the ball first and the player could have either jumped or avoided it, he had enough time to jump or leave the ball... no excuses, the referee was fair the whole game...

Awful call on the red card, a truly deplorable decision that put incredible pressure on Iran to produce from set pieces, which they did in remarkably dramatic fashion. An amazing performance by both of these remarkable countries, one of the most exciting, dramatic and heart breaking matches I have seen in recent years, will be remembered as the most exciting match in Asian Cup history for years to come.

Former Socceroos striker John Aloisi claims Canberra referee Ben Williams held a grudge with Iran coach Carlos Queiroz, while ex-Australian goalkeeper Mark Bosnich labelled the controversial sending off in Friday night's quarter-final against Iraq at Canberra Stadium as "embarrassing".
Aloisi - who has played and coached in games involving Williams during his time with Melbourne Heart - said Williams should have realised he had earlier given Pooladi a yellow card when he reached into his pocket for a second time.
"For me, that's bad refereeing because he should know who he's booked and the situation that he's in," Aloisi told Fox Sports.
"We talk about using common sense and he didn't [use it].
"I think Queiroz criticised him in the first game against Bahrain and Williams has held a grudge.
"I've coached in games and I've also played in games [that he has refereed].
"One of the things we would say to each other is always praise Ben Williams, because as soon as you criticise Ben Williams, he's going to go against you.
"If you praise him enough, he might go for you."
Bosnich said he couldn't explain the send-off.
"The two most embarrassing decisions [of the Asian Cup] are that one and the penalty that Ben Williams gave to Saudi Arabia against Uzbekistan the other day for what [Vitaliy] Denisov did," Bosnich told Fox Sports.
"To send him off like this is absolutely ridiculous.
"I was in as much shock as the Iranians were."

Ignoring the result and the referee debate, the match was definitely the most exciting match I've seen in Asian Cup 2015 so far. Can't wait to see the semi-finals now.
