Histamine do bronchoconstriction and vasodilation... Could you please explain how does this happen... Is it due different receptors.. Thankyou
Thank you for your question. It is due to action of histamine mainly on H1- receptor. As we know Histamine exerts its effects by binding to histamine receptors on cells’ surfaces. H1-receptor (H1R) drives cellular migration, vasodilatation, bronchoconstriction etc. H1R is involved in allergy and inflammation. H1R is expressed in many tissues and cells, including respiratory epithelium, nerves, endothelial cells, hepatic cells, vascular smooth muscle cells, dendritic cells, and lymphocytes. Histamine activates H1R, which then activates phospholipase C and increases intracellular Ca++ levels. As a result, histamine elicits the contraction of smooth muscle of the respiratory tract, increases vascular permeability, and induces the production of prostacyclin and platelet activating factor by activating H1R. Thus, almost all immediate hypersensitivity reactions, including symptoms observed in the skin, such as erythema, pruritus, and edema, may be elicited by the activation of H1-receptor. Take care and stay blessed.

Thank you for your feedback. A lot of foreign students (particularly from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Middle eastern countries) are studying M.B.B.S. in Bangladesh both in government and private medical colleges. Here is a prospectus (2019-2020) from my work place. This will give you an idea. Before choosing any medical college be sure to check if it's graduates are eligible for USMLE, PLAB, MCCEE, AMC etc. Take care and stay blessed. hfrcmc.edu.bd/content.php?f=Prospectus
