The ESS money is coming from players doing combat sites in the system, not from insurances. With this mechanic its possible to force pve players to comit to pvp if they want to get their full bounty payout. So the more money is in the bank the higher is the motivation to defend it for the ppl who are ratting in the system. The ppl who prevent you from stealing the ESS dont get a bounty, they just make sure that you dont steal their bounties they acumulated with ratting.
No, every Killed NPC ship creates a bounty, a portion of that goes into the ess bank, afaik there are no ESS banks in mission systems. The combat sites do not have a final reward like you have in a mission besides escalations and faction spawns. @leemills6825
Thanks for posting the vid. Hope you keep creating content for Eve. One correction is the Warp Interdiction field radius inside the ESS is 75km not 200km. It prevents ships from warping away. It also disables MWDs, MJDs, cloaks, filaments, and cynos. So ships inside the ESS are typically AB fit.
You can use a filament to get to null faster, and use pochven filaments then extraction filaments to get out. And there are many ESS's depending on which space you're in that have a lot more than 10 million that no one defends. My corp has stolen reserve banks before and banks under 100 mill that are not defended

Don't be greedy and think you must only go for the large banks and you'd be surprised how many Vexor ratters would rather watch their near 3 hours of work get taken than put effort into stopping you. Edit: Also make sure to check surrounding areas as only alliance members within a couple jumps get the notification within the time needed to get to you due to the API response times.
