    I just finished Jim Bakker & Tammy Faye Messner’s autobiographies. I recommend reading them! My eyes were opened to what really happened! No one knows how much pain and heartache two people go through. Wish we all could go back and relive the ‘glory’ days.

    After spending over two thirds of my life growing up in church, working behind the scenes, singing and performing, I must say that this is truly the best Christmas show I have ever seen.
    I don't care what anybody says, Tammy Faye is the sweetest and kindest person I've ever seen in my life. A light definitely went out when she passed.

      Txboy85A So true. I worked for TBN for 15 years. Plus I knew Tammy Faye personally. She was one of the ONLY ministers who TRULY LOVED everybody. Unconditionally. And especially, she love and reached out to the gays, and that’s something ministers don’t even do today! She was one in a BILLION. I laugh when I see people attack her because they are so ignorant and just plain wrong. Lol. Bless them anyway!

    • @larkatmic
      @larkatmic 5 лет назад +2

      Txboy85A I agree. A beautiful Christmas program indeed. The music and choir were spectacular. I remember this when it aired. I was 23. Man does time fly. Their fall from grace reminds me of the slow fall of the liberal progressives today. Which I was one. They started out in the 60s with such good intentions. Today, seems most of them are blind to their deluded word speak, of anything goes. God forbid you question them. But, as with anything surrounding money and power. It eventually gets corrupted, and fails miserably, only to be relit by sparks, but never by fire again. Tammy was authentic, and an angel here on earth. She was a yes girl. Jim was definitely suffering from mental illness, and was ill prepared to run the empire they created. Tammy was a dutiful wife, who entrusted her goodness to the people who should have known better. She influenced and left her mark on so many of us. 🙏 RIP Tammy😘

    I remember Xmas 1986 the best Xmas of the entire 1980s. It is heartbreaking so many good people are gone and that Xmases will never have that feel of warmth again. Even 5 years ago I still felt great about the good times of the past but now it is somber to think how the warmth of those good days will never be felt again.

    What the news never told you PTL gave such away. I remember a large ministry bus an so many expensive badly needed items. I do regret a single dollar I sent to PTL. I saw my money at work. I know that their productions cost millions. The Eighties were special years, God poured out His Holy Spirit on man so greatly. It was a great outpouring. I'm so glad I was young in those days and my spouse and I were both Christians during that wonderful shiinng time.

    I am 62 years old. I wish I could type in public writing all I know to be the truth about Jim and Tammy . What I can say is that both of them made mistakes...but haven't we all? More disturbing to me was the other SO CALLED Christian Ministers that totally lied with intent to DESTROY Jim and Tammy And ripped them from their love and passion for people. I type these words from experience....I was involved with PTL-Heritage USA in a type of management. I visited often during my "career". These other so-called hypocrites of what they made people believe was the truth, are the reason I haven't attended church since this all happened. I know things about these 3 men that would devastate the Christians...even many, many years after this was over. This was a beautiful facility with beautiful leaders. (Jim and Tammy). I think of my years spent with them almost daily and weep still to this day. Tammy Faye rest in PEACE... you are very much missed! There will never-ever be another HERITAGE USA. I visited the site several years past, before any demolitions began. I stood for two hours and broken heartedly wept. Greed, lies, envy and money is what destroyed Jim, TAMMY & Heritage USA. My lifestyle has immensely changed....totally my business...so to the three that destroyed this great organization, you may have thought you could hide, but there are a few of us who know the real truth.

      No one should let what happened at Heritage destroy their faith in God. There are still hypocrites, charlatans who profess to preach today & who still take $$ from everyone that is sucked into their lies. PTL stayed on message. Yes, Jim& Tammy had great salaries but they worked 7 days a week. People today make millions with those kind of jobs. You can't compare the 80's to 2023.

    This RUclips entry is a taped broadcast of the PTL Club. PTL stands for “praise the Lord” and the show, picked up by a number of stations around the country, is hosted by Jim and Tammy Bakker. These Pentecostal evangelists, Jim preaching and his wife Tammy singing, get their broadcasting start with the 700 Club and then take advantage of opportunities in the South. The show is popular and the Bakkers are telegenic marketers with a Christian message of prosperity and happiness. Today’s show is broadcast from the Grand, a hotel in the fantasyland theme park devised by the Bakkers. The Bakkers are trying to raise money to keep the park and the network going. Some financial problems eventually develop and the park and network close down. Too bad.

    I was really repulsed by their material gluttony. The thought of taking an old lady's heating oil money in order to gratify themselves in the name of the prosperity gospel was repugnant. But while I'm not a Christian, but I can see where they did a lot of good. Heritage Park, U.S.A. was something unique and wonderful. Falwell, Swaggart, and their ilk thrived on their demise, while leaving absolutely nothing of value.

      Tammy always seemed uncomfortable with big spectacle shows. She dressed the part, but I think she would have been happier if the PTL was smaller, like it was back in the 70s before heritage square, and the stress of having to keep it up. It was obviously a huge financial burden.

      She always seemed the most comfortable in a smaller studio setting. This is also towards the end of her ativan addiction. She would enter rehab in early 1987. That could be part of it, also.
