I mean if the jeep is all original and unrestored but in good condition, of which quite a few where I am are, this shouldn’t be done especially so without roll cage but if the jeep has had work done to it then it should be safe and jeeps are allowed to stretch their legs every now and then especially old flat fenders
if it was good enough for the greatest generation of all time, its good enough for me and if the thing every breaks you can prob fix it with a piece of wire, a screw driver or a pair of pliers
You get similar advantages out of old subarus. Small and light is such a valuable trait when offroading, we had an old VW Bus that would pull crazier shit offroad than a lot of 4x4 SUV's will do now.
@@russetwolf13 ya, it seems that a lot of old technology is more resilient and capable than all the new crap that they want to sell us. I can fix an old Jeep on the side of The road. @user-or9vi8nf7l I'm not saying I have that stuff, my jeep has 29 in tires and has never gotten stuck. Take it off road all the time. Never gotten stuck
They were designed to go anywhere and they do. Had a buddy with a Korean vintage willys and he was always pulling monster trucks from stuck situations. Then to add shame, go into the same hole and out in 2wd. [add] I had a '77 CJ-5 and it also went everywhere I pointed it. No mods. Loved the way mine would drive itself. I see you guys having fun with that too. Wish I still had it now.
I went places in my 66 Ford half ton 2 wheel drive that 4x4 guys would say how did you get here. Went places in a 77 Nova that 4x4 s were afraid to go learn to drive.
These jeeps are one hell of a lot tough to drive,as all of the operating systems are manual, steering, breaking, clutch timings for gear transmission etc. But the best thing about these jeeps is indestructible.
They shouldn't be in museums because they're all restored anyway so it's nothing special to look at. Same thing with my car. Its nothing special, just because it's 72 doesn't mean jack. Its rusty and creaky and falling apart with 30% of the car being Bondo, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. When I die it's getting donated to a museum though. I can't let anyone else have her. Too many morons would drop a big block in there and fuck it up
I recognize your name and Jeep from when I used to watch videos on Willys. I had a Comanche fall into my possession... so I'm building that, but what I'd like to have is something like yours. Would you mind sharing what upgrades your lil 4x4 has such as gears, lockers, etc, or a general build list? Thanks 🙏 And Merry Christmas 🎅 Edit: I just found your modifications video.
Seeing that jeep in the snow having fun, reminded me of the willy's my dad had. He would go to work me and my brother would get it out and do the same things. I really enjoy this old iron work horses.
My Dad used to say, "Those old Jeeps do a lot better with half a squad lifting and pushing them." : D (He had the job of teaching new G.I.'s how to field drive M38A1's.)
Great video! Brought back some good memories of playing with Jeeps. I had a ‘66 CJ 5 with the 225 v6. My brother had a Land Cruiser.. We had lotsa fun.
I've always wanted to meet the people that thought the humvee would be a replacement for the jeep. There would be much pointing and laughing. To be fair, though, as long as the military never leaves deserts the humvee is fine. Just don't let them near trees or streams.
My dad was in the service. A commander was bragging abouy how humvees can go anywhere. Alls he said "ive seen willys jeeps go places 4x4 trucks couldnt go, you really wanna brag" he tried to take it down a small trail and burried it. Had to be towed out. Never underestimate a willys jeep.
The 80's humvees are pretty good though, the woodland camo ones, I've seen some of those shits do crazy stuff. Even the ambulances 😂 you can get them for around $4000
I had a 1960n Square fender pickup with a Super Hurricane flathead six cylinder That in low range would climb anything short of a brick wall, loved the pickup had to get rid of it for family reasons I paid 200 for it in Montana put a clutch in it sold it in Phoenix 3 yrs later for $1000.I sold it in 1988 and I still miss that truck to this very day.
LOL the first shot is almost taking out the cameraman and the second is clearly a mormon church, a place i like to go everytime it snows for the exact same reason he did, snow donuts!! hehe its clear at least some of this was shot in UT, for sure the rock crawling part
I had a 1952 or3 model 4 74 2 door wagon that would climb a grade so steep that the front wheels would start to fall off the ground, (almost back-flip)

@The Weapon Collection with no roll cage the lack of seat belts is a safety feature. Gotta be ready to jump ship

Hey man the only thing that would be cryable is if these shits were original, clearly al of them were restored or fucked with so it doesn't matter
It warms my heart to see these old jeeps being enjoyed!
ditto!
When someone tells me their Jeep has been driven by an old man has been pampered its whole life, this is what I am think it looks like.
I owned a 1947 CJ-2A in the 80s. They have some real advantages over larger 4x4s. My friend had a 1949 CJ-2A. We had a lot of fun with those Jeeps.

I guess I don't need a 6 in lift and 30 light bars to go off roading!

You'd be surprised many of these have power steering and disck brakes

well ... they had the VW 166 "Schwimmwagen" ...

I traded a running Rambler for a 72 cj5 with no drivetrain. Woohoo!
@@xmo552 makes sense. Jeep brand was owned for a while by AMC, the parent brand of Rambler.

These jeeps are in my opinion the best car ever manufactured in the world
Small wonder Jeep’s became so popular after the war.
And remain so.
Modern jeeps are not comparable to the Willy's the front axle is so far up you can clear anything
I wish they would make jeeps this small again
now i get the concept they Willey is like a horse ,it is as brave as you are.
the jeep driving itself got me thinking of mader da dawg truck💀
honestly I quite like the sound of the engine on these older jeeps
41 willys cars also come with this engine
Great video!

@The Weapon Collection
How's that 401? I'm thinking of swapping one into my bro's 1954 Chevy car.
Fun stuff! Good to see a 3B in there.
Loved the Ghost Willy at 3:17
Willy? It’s pronounced will-us
Bam Bam is so very recognisable 😃
Oh yeah! I’ve seen it plenty of times in 4WOR and four wheeler magazine! And on RUclips, of course
Bam Bam goes against the laws of physics...
Legendary!!!
My best friend is on his third Porsche. I'm on my third Jeep. He likes to go fast. I like to go anywhere.
Fun video! Really makes me want an old willys

And that thing can be disassemble and assembled by the US Army in just under 20mins 😂
This is like seeing an old muscle car rippin down an dirt road. Love seeing old iron doing what it was built to do
Awesome! LOL reminds me of my younger days! So much fun
I did have a 1942 Ford Jeep at one time till I rolled it off a side of a hill. I wish I still had some times !!
A Ford jeep?
Yes ford made Jeeps for the U.S Military during WW 2

That's great to see all of videos, you are and your Willys Jeeps are incredible good, guys!
I love this babies. The most basic is the most reliable.
We had a 1942 Ford jeep-great fun for neighborhood kids, too.
I had a 48 Willys I drove to school every day. It was indestructible.
Are these all equipped with the original 4 cylinder engines? Amazing performance, thanks for posting.
Most of them yes

Having driven a WWII Jeep, a C-J, and a modern Wrangler, I think I could have just as much fun in a new Jeep Wrangler Willys edition.
No way, any Jeep newer than 1985 is junk....
Sproutin' Willys wood here.
This is jeeping ! Old school jeeps . Start it and send it!
Nothing like them Ol' Willy's. I had a 1955 model.
Just went passed a place today there along the road was a trencher on a jeep
Great video, the kind I instantly texted the link to all my buddies
the willys really are incredibly capable little cars

Unmatched untouched unrivaled king of off-roading JEEP baby the land rover recovery vehicle.

Any of these jeeps have the seat conversion to mount it further back? My dream is to own a flatfender but I’m 6’6” and not thin
You can cut the fender wells. A CJ3A has 2" more room than earlier models.

A lotta these are at Badlands in Attica right? I been there a few times looks familiar.
Yep!
When there was such thing as profit margin or cost cutting....Quality.

There isnt much to add. Perfect vehicle for the job. Bet the guys in WW2 loved them too.
JEEP! The honey badger of the auto world. ZERO FUCKS GIVEN!
