    Jack Fina was the finest pianist most folks never heard of.

    This is the fastest I’ve ever heard them take it. So glad I found a full band version of by far the best arrangement of this song ever. The originator of the bumble boogie, Jack Fina ladies and gentlemen.

    This is the man. All of the adoptations and variations of the bumble boogie orginated from this man. Long Live Jack!

    My now 86 yr old dad used to play this as we were growing up. He can't strike the ivory like he used to but still plays a variation of. This brings back so many memories. So great.

    This was the song that I played for my piano teacher when I was 10 years old and wanted to play something other than classical music.....she said classical or nothing so I quit my classes. This was the most challenging song I had ever played in my young life and I'm still fascinated by anyone who can play it well!

      Yup! I get it! I was struggling with the "feels" of classical when I first heard this when I was a kid. Jack Fina's Bumble Boogie was like nothing I'd ever imagined. It took my breath away and made my soul fly. I HAD to play this, my piano teacher said no, so I quit my classes and became obsessed with learning this piece. I haven't heard it played live since a little piano bar in Mexico in 1986, but still crave hearing it from a good pianist.

    I can see why Disney had Fina and the rest of the band play that segment in Melody Time; they’re all talented

      The Nun at the Parochial School I attended told me that I couldn’t play Popular or Boogie Woogie and I also quit music lessons. I liked Classical ,but wanted to have fun too. I was only in Third Grade so I didn’t realize I could have learned it on my own. 😢🎶♥️🎶

    My dad played this almost identically to Jack Fina's original version. It was my most requested song he played when I was a kid. But I think Fina went too fast in this video. It sounds better a bit slower in my opinion. There are other videos of Fina playing Bumble Boogie that aren't as fast as this one.

    Used to watch a guy try to play this on a piano in the children's meeting room down the hall from the chapel in my old hometown church but it never sounded this good.

    An amazing work of art. Check out Melody Time, the Disney Cartoon that featured Fina playing Bumble Boogie. I saw it in the '40s and it blew my mind.

    For a more recent rendition, by a 14-year-old virtuoso, see a TED Talk and performance by one Jennifer Lin (2004): www.ted.com/talks/jennifer_lin_improvs_piano_magic
    (This piece is in the final two minutes or so.)

    Liberace was great, amazing, but sloppy as heck compared to Fina. i can understand likely Lib better-he was a heck of a showman-but to suggest he outstripped `the most talented ten fingers of radio' as a player, in anyway, is ludicrous.

  • @oscarandgroucho
    @oscarandgroucho 11 лет назад +1

    Sorry, Mr Akk... you've got it reversed. Liberace followed Jack and failed miserably. Jack makes it look easy and knocks it out of the park. Liberace makes it look difficult and gets stuck in the mud.
