  • Long and slightly chaotic (I am sorry) description of mods and partial review of Ninebot Z10 after 1013 km... In short - no issues, wheel performs really well.
Comments welcomed! Please subscribe for more unicycle related info.
    On-Off switch mod:
    forum.electric...
Ninebot Z10 - front lamp angle correction mod
    forum.electric...
Ninebot Z10 - power supply Charge Doctor mod
    forum.electric...
    MODS list for Ninebot Z10
    1. Side protector panels foam inserts mod
    2. Protectors - stick flaps above the front lamp better
    3. Cut away rubber protectors behind the pedals to unblock opening
    4. Reflective tape on the front of the wheel (white) and on the back mud guard (red)
    5. Install/stick pedal openers
    6. Put silicone on the pedal axis to make pedal opening softer
    7. Modify the front light
    8. Add anti-rattle tape to the handle and screw it more securely with tape
    9. Print and attach my switch-off protector / light sensor adjuster
    10. Modify the pump rubber hose
    11. Get Charge Doctor and prepare power supply for use with charge doctor
    12. Get WheelLog version 2.0.15 which supports Z models
The step by step setup guide for Ninebot Z models including mods:
    • Find Yourselves local standard mains connection cable like for PC (depends if the dealer made the good job or You got Chinese standard cable in the box)
    • Buy some reflective tape - white and red
    • Unpack all stuff, connect the Z to the charger and charge it....
    • Cut away small triangles of the bottom protectors by the pedal post as they block the easy pedal opening (see / lukluk for video of what I am referring to)
    • Take included hex key and screw pedal plate screws (6 on each pedal) slightly better
    • Stick the grip pads precisely
    • Unscrew pedals
    • Cut reflective tape for front and end of pedals - 4 wedges 100 mm long, 12mm on wide end and 5mm on narrow ends are needed.
    • Stick the reflective tapes precisely
    • Get / prepare pedal openers (custom solution in my case - but willing to print and send - option to be discussed) stick them nicely using strong professional grade double sided tape
    • Get / print my switch-off protector / light sensor adjuster to reduce botch accidental switch off of the wheel and lamp switch off by incoming car phenomenon (custom solution in my case - but willing to print and send - option to be discussed) stick it nicely using double sided tape (*see my thread forum.electric... )
    • Cut and stick RED reflective tape for the back fender (stick it over instead of white - also wider strip like 4 cm is OK)
    • Add good double sided tape to front of the top protectors - by the lamp as original one un-glues as hell (*see my YT video)
    • Unscrew all side panels and lamp, modify front lamp angle - see my thread for that on the forum here or my YT video with link listed
    • Screw in fender and handle
    • Stick some fancy white reflective tape strips on the front of the unit *see YT..
    • Clean all unit using alcohol before sticking all external protectors
    • Prepare extra soft foam leg triangular protectors to cover parts of the original leg protectors as they are hard as hell
    • Stick protectors
    • Apply silicone on pedal axis to stop them form rattling and screw them back in place
    • Modify the original rubber hose from the set - cut the pump end away, get the bike tube valve, press it into the rubber tube (original one comes without the valve)
    • Set the right pressure in the tire !!!!
    • Stick some foam tape in the middle bottom of the handle (to prevent handle from rattling
    • Unscrew top plastic part of the handle (4 screws) and put 1 layer of thin tape around the tops of the aluminum struts, screw the plastic back
    • DONE
    Optional steps:
    • get the charge doctor and modify the power supply to use it (*see my YT video about it - / lukluk ) also separate thread here...
    • install WheelLog (in case of android device) new version supports Z model
This is more or less complete guide. Skip what you want, or add other steps ;-)

Thanks for the video, because of my technical background i really enjoy to see mods on machinery, more than just a rewiew which almost everyone can make. I wish there were more videos like yours, of modders.

Awesome review and great improvements, I will be getting mine soon and I plan on adding some of your mods. I am also planning on vinyl wrapping it to protect it, if you get a moment can you measure the height and width of the exposed plastic that would need covered and let me know.
    Thanks

Great review. Do you ride the 16S anymore? Guess not... Could you please do a comparison between the 2 wheels. KS16 S still a good deal in 2018?

Hi Luk!!! Great Video. QQ, do you know where I can get the Z10 in the UE? I live in spain but there is no Official or unofficial dealer that sells it. I would not care if I need to get it from another country from the UE or outside it. Thanks in advance.

    • @LukLuk
      @LukLuk  6 лет назад

NO official dealers in EU... The only contact I can eventually suggest is AliExpress - check for "Green and fashion travaling shop"

When you attach a typical portable air pump to the air hose extender, the wheel air won't escape upon screwing it to the wheel air valve.....just a tip comment. Thank you for sharing your wheel experience

    • @LukLuk
      @LukLuk  6 лет назад +1

Yes - if you attach the pump - You will limit the amount of air which escapes... but for this wheel specific air pressure is needed - You really need the way to use manometer easily and with precise measurement without air escaping in this process..

      Hi,
What is the cause of the steering?
      Tire pressure rebalancing something else?
I ask that because I fell while losing control of my Z10!

    • @LukLuk

KS14 , KS16 and so on - Kingsongs have pedal openers "already integrated" in the design - so does not need any mods..

Morning on Saturday was quite rainy and cold, so I have taken out autumn/winter helmet. 4x10W Cree customized LED setup with 2 pcs wide short-range beams and 2 pcs radio controlled long range narrow beams. Each led can have power set to any given 3 out of the 16 power levels. Custom setup based on the Chinese headlamps - heavily modified so only lens, chassis and battery case are from original inexpensive headlamps sets

? ok, no problem I accept the comment, but could You please be more specific which ones are ugly? reflective tape? (obligatory in Europe - front - white / back - red) pedal openers? there are no mods on this wheel except the factory provided padding and purely technical stuff which is needed in the real daily use..
