Yeah it is an "8K Sky" that they used in FH3, but FH5 has the exact same system - So I don't know how the sky in FH3 looks so good but FH5 seems a bit "plain" in comparison 🤔

IMO Horizon 2's rain effects were the best. Unfortunately they are super underappreciated since everyone compared it to Driveclub.
The sky in FH3 was amazing especially at night and during sunsets and the sky in that game still looks amazing to this day and I used to love sitting in the outback and looking at the stars
It's actually kinda crazy. Why would the devs remove so many cool features between FH3 and FH5?
Because Mike Brown only cared about Battle Royale and anything that did not Improve the Battle Royale Experience got the Chop!

Fh3 is the most beautiful in my opinion. It was colorful and full of life. I actually felt like i was a part of the game when i would cruise

Horizon 5 is an interactive tourism advert first, racing game second. Like you said, most probably haven't played the previous titles. The only reason Horizon 5 was popular was due to it being on Gamepass, overall it's the worst in the series when it comes to location and content.
Fh3 had the best setting because it was better than fh5 to this day

the only reason i can think for some of these is optimization, fh3 runs AWFULLY on my pc, like sub 60 on low, while fh5 runs around 70ish on medium

@@speedycheese790At any rate, we should have 2 different types of sky for night time. One that's pitch black like in FH3 and one that's moonlit like in FH5. Not only this will cater to everyone's tastes, it will also add more diversity to the game.
@@zerotofifty The only issue is that the sky is huge on a graphic scale, so putting either as an option is an enormous task.

FH5, IMO, does look Considerably worse than 4, and worse than 3 in some Places as well, it really is not a very good looking Game at all. They Seriously need to step up it for FH6, especially as they wont have the issues caused by needing to support the Base Xbox One holding the Game back. So they have got to step it up as People are going to expect a massive Graphical Improvement for the next Game. !
Something is very, very wrong with the Lighting in FH5, the skybox, which indeed is a Photo of the Sky at night over Mexico (real Photographic Skyboxes being used since FH3) should be a Lot Darker (not Pitch black like FH4's, but still a very Dark Navy like FH3's) and should not Glow, as if the Main Light Source for the Sun Simulation is Still Active, something is very wrong with the Lighting, it is Far too Strong, which is responsible for a lot of the Issues with the Games Color Grading meaning everything just looks flat and bleached and baked, both with HDR On and Off, the Lighting is a Mess in FH5! Indeed, the Dull Blue Glow also makes the Stars less Visible, and that really is a Shame, as FH3's Night Skybox is most certainly the most Spectacular due to all those Stars.

You are Right, you only see the Rain Drops in Photo mode, so either they are not Animating at all when the Game is in Motion, or something is wrong and they are Animating, but Not Rendering, something is clearly very Broken there... The Rain should look like it did in 3 and 4 where the Raindrops were Very Visible and indeed, had some Velocity to their Animations, as its the Same Engine in use for 5, something has gone wrong, as they are either not Animating at all, or are not Rendering!
FH5, Sadly, is, even after nearly 3 Years on Sale, still very much in Beta, and is all too Typical of a Live Services Game in still, basically, being a very Obvious Beta even after nearly 3 Years on from its "launch".
Again, either the Lighting which just Bleaches everything as it is just far too Strong is making it Difficult to see the Carbon Fiber due to bleaching out the Gloss and the slight brown Tint that made it just "pop" in FH2 (a Pre-HDR Title might I add), or there has been a Massive Downgrade in the Texture Quality on the Carbon Fiber for Five, either way, neither is Acceptable and they need to step up the Quality of the Textures, the Lighting (using some actual Ambient Occlusion might help there...) and the Color Grading for FH6.
Oh Man, I honestly cannot even think (and I have been gaming for a very long time indeed, since the SNES Vs Megadrive Wars at the Least!) of a Game with Flatter, more Basic, less Impressive, Backfire than FH5's! they look Awful! its not even the Lighting, it is just Genuinely Bad Animation that removes the Big Orange Fireball and just leaves the Blue Shock Diamond at the Centre! they Need to bring back the Massive, Gaseous, Fireball like we had in FH3 for FH6, no Question, as 4 Shrunk the Fireball a bit and it just does not look as good as that massive Fireball we got in 3! They also need to make it Rarer and more Intermittent like in 2, only have Cars that can backfire, well, backfire, like in FH2, and they need to have it so sometimes it only Backfires through one or two of the Pipes and not all of them on a car with Multiple Pipes as if, if its a V engine, only one Bank, or even, on any multi-cylinder engine, as if only a couple of cylinders are actually over-running and causing the Backfire.
A lot of this Probably comes from the Team just being utterly Burned out from working under a Chief Creative Director who did not know what he was doing, and not wanting to work on the "Fortnite...but with Cars!" that he has been confirmed to have wanted to turn the Game into, and thus, just being in that "Oh it will do! Who cares, the Game's Garbage anyway, why a bother making an Effort?" Funk that tends to come with that kind of Burn Out.
That was more of an "OTT Mexican Wrestler" Voice (a Hyper Exaggerated Mexican Accent) more than a Normal Mexican. Still, it does, it was better than some of the Accents in the Game... As Stated, something is very, very wrong with the Lighting in FH5, it seems to lack any sort of Ambient Occlusion so its coming full Strength from the Light Source at all Times, and it is far, Far, too Bright! its around 600 Kelvin (so on the Yellow Scale) it just bleaches everything, throws the Color Grading out Completely, and Yellow is indeed Heavily Impacted by the Lighting Bleaching it out! it needs to be Reduced (more to the Red Scale) for FH6 to Restore some of that Deep and Lustrous Coloring we got in FH4, which had a very cold "Blue Scale" Light, and Actual Ambient Occlusion, that allowed for Darker Color Grading that just made the Colors look so Deep with HDR Turned on.

Now, I think the Decision to Reduce the Glare and Reflectivity Levels in the Cockpit is actually a Pretty major Quality of Life Improvement, as the huge amount of Glare and Reflectivity in the Older Titles, 2 Especially, made the Cockpit View very Tricky to use at times, So I am going to let that one go!
Indeed, the Loss of the See through Vents is very Strange, there was no need to Remove the Ability to see through the Vents, that is a Definite Downgrade in the Model Quality, as if the Textures have been turned down from Ultra to Medium, so yeah, for FH6 they Desperately need to Remodel Every Single Car in the Game, from Scratch, with a Minimal in Game Model Quality of 99.9 % Accurate as confirmed by the Manufacturers, they need to Step it up, because Right now GT7 is Burying Forza in terms of the Car Models!
Well, the Antipodes are Famous for their Incredible Sunsets IRL, so Naturally FH3, using Footage of Real Australian Sunsets, is going to have the best Sunsets , about the only place that comes close to them is Morecambe Bay here in the UK, and even then only when the Weather is really Fine! Australia just has the most Incredible Sunsets IRL, so pretty much everywhere else is going to Pale.
Nothing about the Paddleshifters no longer Animating like they did in FH4? or Postboxes no longer bursting open and sending Postcards Flying Everywhere like they did in FH3 and FH4? and the Wristband being locked to Orange?

This is all for the same reason the roads are so wide and so much of the skill cap has been removed from the game. They want to make it even more accessible and appeal to the lowest common denominator. The night in FH5 looks that bright and the rain is light because they don't want to risk any player having low visibility and complaining that the game is too hard.

If you want my opinion, Forza Horizon (1)’s graphics were indescribably awesome and way more ahead of their time. So do 2’s and 3’s but after 4 I feel like they didn’t put that much passion into it…
5 is the same, and after seeing FM8’s “8k” graphics I still say older games’ graphics were better.

I would have to say Forza horizon two has the best visuals yes it's an older title but location and lighting can't beat it.
Even the animation when you change gear was better before, for example in FH2 it's faster and natural while in FH5 the animation is too slow and doesn't sync well the audio!

There's a chance that cross console generation may have a hand in the way that the game looks. They might have been prevented from making it look better so older Xbox consoles could handle it.

i might not fully have the right for my opinion but I love forza 5 with it being the first forza game I played. I have played some of the other games. I was able to play forza Motorsport before it was out I think. I was able to play it at the peterson’s automobile museum in California
Show random ss of different forza games to people that don't play games and ask which pic is real life and which are video games (they all obviously are videogames) and most people will point to FH5 ss. It has the most photo realistic graphics. But there are things that make FH3 look better. (better =/= more realistic)

I have hundreds of hours on fh5 and I used to love it too, but after a while it just got really boring, repetitive, etc. The map is so boring, no big city, just feels like a giant desert with a poor and old town. Fh3 had a giant and modern city, good diverse landscapes, and it had that older horizon game feel that isn’t there in fh5 which just feels very generic
