OHMYGOSH, I am doing this same quilt, been working on it for a few years now. still growing, but I am doing the same sizes as you are...love, love, love this.
I know I say this in just about every video of yours... but you are truly a gifted teacher! I was shaking my head at the simple explanation of "2 rows that look like this and 2 rows that look like this..." - I honestly did not see it that way. I would have been counting and saying, okay, now this one goes in the 3rd spot! :)
I need to get into the habit doing extra projects this way. Making 2 quilts at one time. I think this would be a great no stress sewing session. I need those from time to time.
I absolutely love the scrappy look of postage stamp quilts. I want to make one using 2.5” so I can fussy cut squares. Thanks for the video and sharing your beautiful quilt.
Loving your scrappy quilt, what a difference the cuts made, like the 2 inch and using cream or white within the rows. Has a look of age, love and happy times, beautiful
My lightbulb moment was when you said you only need 2 arrangements of strips to get the diagonal of one color. It seemed magical when you turned the strips around and made the square.
Thanks for a simple and lovely approach to stash busting. I have been thinking of trying my hand at crumb piecing, but honestly, I like this approach much better. I am just not a lover of random sizes of scraps. Give me nice, orderly symmetry every time! :-)
I’ve made several postage stamp quilts and they are a wonderful way to use up scraps! What I like to do when possible is to sew strip sets together and then cut into the block size I’m using. I prefer 2.5” squares. From there, I sew the sets together. I usually alternate the color fabric and the white fabric but I really like the pattern you used as well. ❤ As always, thanks for sharing! You’re a great teacher.
Thanks for sharing how you sew your blocks. I've been saving my scraps and cutting them into squares of different sizes. Hopefully one day soon I'll start sewing them together :)
My grandmother made one of these quilts by hand many years ago because she was my age when she died and I am 74 years old…thanks for showing us the different sizes…I have always thought I would make one, but not m hand✂️🪡🔆🧵❤️
I had to laugh at myself when you rotated the different strips 180*. I saw myself sewing 4 different configurations! This is a nifty idea. I have an Accuquilt cutter and I can cut 2.5” squares very quickly.
There are a few reasons to begin with a scrap of fabric and end with a scrap. I googled and found a few articles on the topic. Among others things It saves thread and makes sewing each piece a little quicker.
Thank you! I love the way you teach! Do you have a video on Beginner Applique? I have been stitching from the wrong side and I really liked how your vine and leaves looked. *I put this here because it is the most recent one I could find. Thank you again.
The past few years I have been trying to use the fabric I already have.🙂. I backed this queen sized quilt with 4 large chunks of fabric sewn together. Maybe I’ll visit that topic in the future.
@@bethshibleyquilts I'm trying to learn how to quilt. I loved the idea of the small patches, but I guess I'll revisit it later once I've worked out what is what. I'll have a look around RUclips to see who has tutorials on how to finish off a quilt. Hope all goes well with you and you stay in good health.
OMG - Is than an actual Featherweight, card table like, sewing machine table ? ! ? ! I am waiting for my mean sister to die, so I can take back my set. Bought it in '66, while in high school, and when I graduated, got job, got apt., went back for my stuff, she and my mother informed me that I had abandoned it. Tough Luck ! Yup! 50 yrs and I AM still mad! (They did give me my bedroom set.)
My settings in youtube are set to add automatic captioning...but sometimes it takes a while for it to show up (according to their information). I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.
Love the scrappy block with lights running through!

Thank you! Love the center cream. I will start one with black center as black accentuates all colors. My next will have white center line. Thank you.
I need to get into the habit doing extra projects this way. Making 2 quilts at one time. I think this would be a great no stress sewing session. I need those from time to time.
I need to start seeing squares as leaders and Enders. Makes sense
I really like the white/cream going through the centers of your blocks...really adds to the finished piece...thanks Hugs, Julierose (Stay safe)

I like the diagonal lines of white/cream squares. Gives it a bit of definition while keeping the scrappy feel. Thanks for the tutorial.
Your videos bring me such joy bc you are practical and your quotes are beautiful. Big fan. I've made at least 3 of your patterns

Thanks so much!
I loved that postage stamp quilt. You did a great job. 2 inch squares are easier.
I love scraps. Your quilt is beautiful Beth. Monica from Australia
I just love your videos. Not sure how I missed this one.

I don't have enough scraps, but great idea for using them up. Such a cute quilt.

Love your style and easy, laid back approach to quilting❤
thanks for the video I have been saving squares for a while so.............I need to get sewing them together

Just gorgeous!💗
Must be so relaxing sewing on your old Singer Featherweight. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, the comparisons are so helpful along with where to place the squares, I really enjoyed that.
Oh wow! I just started my 2 inch blocks! Thanks for sharing the 3 sizes, I really like the two inch block , not to big, not to small 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Love the addition of the white/cream line in this quilt.
Thanks for sharing how you sew your blocks. I've been saving my scraps and cutting them into squares of different sizes. Hopefully one day soon I'll start sewing them together :)
Thanks for the tip on managing the white squares in the block. The finished piece looks absolutely amazing!
Thanks patty

Good idea for all left over fabric. I will try this. Thank you again for a great tutorial. Sandra B.
Love your sewing machine and how easily you approach the project.
Love you Beth
I love scrap quilts! I have a series going on right now about scrappy projects...it’s so much fun!
I'll be trying this for a quilt! Thank you!!
just a 1/2 " makes a huge difference
That is so effective! Thank you for sharing these wonderful ideas.
Thanks for watching! 😉
You communicate so well the design elements. Thank you!
Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you, I've been looking for a video like this! Also, it's so nice to see that you are using a vintage machine!

Great job !!!
Thanks!!
This was so helpful!
These are the type of blocks I like to make when I just want to sit down and sew, with no particular project to work on. 💕💕💕
I appreciate the tips! TY
Great ideas. The size differences between the 1-1/2, 2, and 2-1/2 inch blocks. Thanks!
That's cool hobby
I love this! I'm a novice quilter, what do you mean when you say use as a leader and ender? How does it help with the threads?
There are a few reasons to begin with a scrap of fabric and end with a scrap. I googled and found a few articles on the topic. Among others things It saves thread and makes sewing each piece a little quicker.

I just added an applique tutorial that may give you some ideas. 😉
New to this - is it typical to have that lighter fabric to go diagonal through each block?
quilters make it ALL sorts of ways. This is the design I chose. 😉
Do you have to have a white, red or other color or can it just be random to be a postage stamp?
I think it can be any color👌
❤❤❤
Do you have a preferred way of backing a quilt this size?
The past few years I have been trying to use the fabric I already have.🙂. I backed this queen sized quilt with 4 large chunks of fabric sewn together. Maybe I’ll visit that topic in the future.

Do you have a video on how to finish the back of the quilt?
I made videos a few years ago that may help- how to spray baste a quilt and how to quilt. Hoping to update them one of these days🙂
@@bethshibleyquilts thank you. I will take a look.

This table is a desk my husband cut a hole in for the machine. I will try and share about it sometime on the channel. 😉
This is hilarious but now I want one too.
could you please add closed captioning for those of us who need it
My settings in youtube are set to add automatic captioning...but sometimes it takes a while for it to show up (according to their information). I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.
Your example did not use leaders and enders.
sometimes I do....sometimes I don't 😉
My Grandmother kept hers in a shoe box.
Add closed captions please. I can’t lipread you.
I’m sorry about that. I have my channel set to caption mode… not sure how to fix.😐
H
I'm sorry. Too small for me.
Please kill the music
