Dave needs to learn that if he finds a troll level in this series, unless it is a stupid short one, he should save it for a trolled video.
Dave did promise once that he's not gonna intentionally search and play troll levels in the uncleared series. Not only did he break the promise, he played one obnoxious troll level for 3 uncleared episodes. Thus he continues playing these generic levels wasting half of the videos. But can you blame him? The majority of his viewers are kids who love watching him falls for stupid trolls.

Yeah, power creep is a real problem in the Pokemon TCG. The exact scenario you described is exactly why older cards are practically worthless in a competitive sense.
A lot of long running TCGs have similar issues, where newer cards have higher stats to incentivize players to keep buying, and if you don't keep up, you just get powercrept out.
Gotta keep those kids addicted to buying cards.

Im sure Nintendo would pull a Disney and b like “only the first Mario character/Mario game ran out of copyright, all other versions of the character r different.” Im sure they did renew copyright, so it would run for the entire lifespan of the author + 70 years

I don't know how other countries do it, but patents run out in the USA to encourage competition. When there are more competitors selling, it improves products for consumers to buy. (quality and/or price)
There's also a difference between a patent, copyright, and trademark, and while they all serve a similar purpose, they all are slightly different.
Patents are for tangible objects, say the Nintendo Switch Joycons. Patents run out and can not be renewed. So people can make Joycons when that patent runs out.
Copyright is for works of art, including characters, books, movies, etc. Copyright for works made after 1973 last for the life of the author, plus 50-100 years depending on jurisdiction. It can be renewed for works under a company. So Mario can be copyright protected for as long as Nintendo is in business plus 50-100 years, but it has to be renewed.
Trademark is for brand identifiers like logos and are renewable as long as they are in use
Except what actually happens is the larger companies watch over patents from smaller companies and wait for them to expire, then patent them themselves to stop any competition from making the product. Then they'll either make the product themselves (like what happened with the iPod), or just sit on it with no intention of doing anything with it.

Yeah it's usually ballpark at like 10 cents US per piece, which is decent value on some of them with large pieces IMO and sometimes you can snag stuff on clearance, but everything is limited runs so they'll almost always have collector value and ESPECIALLY the first Zelda set
Today I learned it is the level creator's fault if you rage tap "RESTART" instead of waiting for retry at CP1 by accident

While I do agree that the price is a little high, as licensed sets like Zelda or Disney are always higher priced, when considering the amount of pieces (2,500), it's not too far off from the price of one of their larger sets. It's also a 2 in 1 set, which is neat.
Imo, they are all overpriced by a lot. I was interested in the one for D&D or Star Wars... not anymore.

I remember just a few years ago Dave was only a little better than me at this game. Now he's grown into one of the greatest Mario Maker players to ever live.

Nah not really. Dave just plays a lot so he has a lot of uncleared levels and super expert runs under his belt, but there are way better players. Dave is just really chill to watch and relatable to most avid players. I will say he is probably more knowledgeable than most, but he also does a lot of bonehead things at the same time. lol

Patents aren't the same as Copyrights. Mario is currently copyrighted to Nintendo. Ninendo reserves the right to renew that copyright in the future if they choose.
That is not true. Nintendo's copyright will eventually run out just as Disney's Mickey Mouse one did.

17:07 oh you sweet summer child. Mario isn't gonna be public domain for like 60 years and your works aren't going to be public domain until seventy years after you die. Even in the distant future where the copyright has lapsed on the original mario bros for example, nintendo will still own the copyright of everything made after (including the various redesigns of mario) and more importantly, the trademark to "Super Mario Bros"
While the 70 year rule applies to most countries, it's not true for others, especially the USA that don't follow the 70pma. Japan use to be 50pma until it joined the Berne convention and is now 70pma and follows ROST. The USA is divided between a 28-year original term and a 67-year renewal term giving a 96 years "from first publication" regardless of when the creator died. In other words, anything published on or before 1928 no matter whether the owner is still alive or dead. Because of the renewal process, some works from 1891 are still under copyright in the USA. As for Trademark, that is another loophole around copyright. Companies like Disney get around Micky Mouse from being used as Public Domain by making it their Trademark and since Trademarks never expire, neither does the Disney's IP of Micky Mouse. Nintendo have done the same thing for Mario, to bypass Public Domain laws and sue anyone trying to use it.
This why some of Gustav Holst's works are Public Domain in the UK and Eu since 2004 but still copyright protected in the USA.
