fact for Dave: There are actually THREE plurals of octopus! There's the common octopi and octopuses, which are both correct (though I prefer octopi). There's also a third plural, coming from the Greek root, which is octopodes! Sometimes the best compromises mean that everyone is correct on occasion.

Octopus comes from Latin, and "-i" gives you the plural of words ending with "-us". I wasn't aware of the Greek plural.....and now that one is my favorite.

8:10 "Can I jump that high?" You were neither dumb or smart there, but soulcrushing because you didn't knew that after 6 years of playing Mario Maker that you can only jump 5 blocks with a running start!
Yeah, I was surprised that he didn't realize he wouldn't (normally) be able to jump that high. But he lucked into being correct by the low grav.
Yeah! And guess what: Mario's 5-blocks high jump has actually existed ever since the very first Super Mario Bros NES game! Since then and to this day, Mario's jumps are always 4-blocks high when he's standing and 5-blocks high when he's running at full speed!
I believe when Dave says "Can I jump that high?" is more him not knowing how high the jump is rather than not knowing how high Mario can jump. We all know Dave can't math. 😂

btw, Dave, that fish did not kill you when you jumped into it because in Mario Maker 2, when a fish comes out of a block, there's a very small timeframe where it lacks a hitbox, where if you jump through it within that timeframe, like you did in this video, you can defeat it, as if you jumped onto it from above, without you taking damage

Nothing about this video is going to stick in my head more than the fact that DGR has the wrong opinion about Aerosmith.
I by no means think they're bad but I do think they're on the weaker end of legendary classic rock bands.
The worst part is he's confusing Aerosmith with Mark Chesnutt, a country musician who covered "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing".
This is the best troll level I've seen in years! So sad that Nintendo is going to remove it :(

Dave thinking cp2 was cp 1 because the muncher pushed him off screen was funny
I actually had to watch it back a few times to understand what was happening, because it certainly appeared to be CP1. But it simply couldn't have been, if only because there was low grav, then he was pushed off-screen and killed - never going through a pipe to the sub-world - then when he started from the checkpoint again there *wasn't* low grav. Assuming no glitch was involved to make that happen, he couldn't have gotten a checkpoint while pushed off-screen and killed. So it was still CP2, just scrolled to the left because of the gray blocks, and on a launcher instead of the yellow blocks due to shenanigans involving the yellow blocks being destroyed already the first time he reached CP2. This whole thing was just on another level, wow.
I watch baseball, more specifically post season condensed games. Best thing since sliced bread.
One of the most popular players right now is Shohei Ohtani, a two-way player, ace pitcher and home run hitter. That hasn't happened since Babe Ruth and of course the level of play today is far, far higher. So really impressive what he's doing, though I personally still enjoy watching defensive plays and base stealing the most.

Yeah, I'm still a big baseball fan - only sport for me, in fact. Also a Yankee fan, so when he wanted a current player to use for a blistering fastball, I thought of Aroldis Chapman. Not a fan of him as a reliable closer, but he certainly can light up a radar gun. But yeah, Johnson was a good choice. Certainly owned the Yankees in the 2001 WS (as well as the rest of baseball in those years).

15:15 Actually, the spring didn't really dissapear. It only went into a puff of smoke. Remember: hitting an invisible block will cause any other sprites behind it to go into a puff of smoke. This is because whenever a non-solid block becomes solid, and a sprite is behind it, it goes into a puff of smoke. This is also the case for sideways springs.

*He did, in fact, use the night theme for this troll! In fact, here's what actually happened:*
The whole level is full of semisolids that cover the whole background. Therefore, it's almost impossible to tell wether the level is in night theme or not without looking at Mario's jumps. Plus, this level has a night-themed subworld, while the main world is day-themed. Therefore, Mario alternates between normal gravity and low gravity whenever he goes through a pipe. However, we can't tell this from the background, because the background is all covered in semisolids!
This makes for really good troll levels! I also remember seeing two troll levels with similar scenarios: one was a SMB1 castle troll level, and the other one was a SMW underground troll level. In both cases, the main world was day-themed, while the subworld was night-themed. And since the background was covered by semisolids in both cases, the night effect appearing out of nowhere was a big surprise! In that case, in the SMB1 castle level, Mario had normal physics until he went down a pipe - then he started swimming out of nowhere! In the SMW underground level, everything looked perfectly fine until Mario went down a pipe with a P-balloon - then the screen randomly flipped upside-down! Man, these trolls are always amazing!

@@samsimington5563, true! Plus that the level was set up in such a way that noticing Mario's low gravity is a major surprise! Have you noticed how tight the space before the big jump was? Only when you have enough space to do a normal jump, you'll notice Mario's very high jump! This is amazing!

Well, now my lasting impression of this troll level is Aerosmiths taint.
The plural of octopus is indeed octopi. And how could you not like Bon Jovi or Aerosmith?! Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet is one of the best albums ever recorded. And while Aerosmith might not have released anything good since "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" in December 1998, so much of their stuff before that was absolutely amazing! "Dream On," "Toys in the Attic," "Walk This Way," "Angel" (my favorite song by them), at least half the tracks from the album Pump, and so many others! They even have a really good cover of The Beatles' "Come Together." If you ever come to Oklahoma, I'll have to walk you through a deep dive of Aerosmith from 1973-1998. There is a reason they used to be on my list of favorite groups of all time (the only reason they aren't any more is because they haven't released anything good since 1998, but that doesn't change how great their stuff was before that!).
