That notmare level left me mentally exhausted, and I wasn't even the one playing it, legit felt like stopping the video after you finally cheesed your way out of that torture. How well you handle being stuck with hot garbage will never fail to impress me.

I never realized how Boos in night levels work differently. If you look at then they start coming after you instead of stopping. Apparently Boos are more extroverted when the night fall down
That explains it, was losing my mind trying to figure out why the boos were acting weird.

Imagine Ryu actually did the intended strat for the Munsterpiece level and the rest was just dead ends and recycles. Like an awful, terrible, dev exit. It feels a bit too coincidental that the room you needed a bomb for connected to the pipe that was spawning bombs
i was thinking the same thing. that level is evil it makes sense that the only way to beat it is so awkward and weird and well hidden it feels like cheese
When he says this is one of the worst levels ever made, all I can remember is that horrible 12 midairs level from SMM1 any other veterans should remember this one...

I wouldn't call the levels you mentioned bad, they are just extremely difficult. Troll chaotic levels like the one in this video are much worse if we're judging the quality.
That one is just strict execution, this one is minutes of torture.

But anyway the reason I was reminded of that particular level is that Ryukahr's reaction was similar

If you could learn to consistently pull off Terrible Life Decisions, it would be extremely fun to play, very satisfying to show off the skill. Could say the same about all of the insane Kaizo levels Ryu plays. A hard level won't be fun to a bad player, although it could be to a better player. I think a truly *bad* level, would be fun for nobody, no matter the circumstances.

What I miss about endless/100 mario is the hot garbage with STAKES. When it feels like ryu has to overcome it in a certain number of lives, he tends to be more cautious and his decision to go for cheese strats matters more
this level taught me that Ryu is an "innuendo master"!...flawless victory, sir!

Ryu doesn't seem to need help finding stuff to fill the endless slot, but has he ever considered trying out troll levels? I'd find that pretty entertaining.
the second level legit gave me a headache and reasons to believe that they let people at psychiatric hospitals design levels in super mario maker so they make others feel what they feel
That second level is probably the closest thing to Mario having a nightmare combined with an insane psychedelic trip.

I personally miss endless because it was a great variety. You had not only moist garbage, but the occasional incredible clutch/save and really good levels from time to time.
I REALLY miss the SMM1 videos tbh. There was so much more mechanically interesting going on than "bouncy donuts and switches"
