Travis Kinney u r so lucky that ur grandfather is the poet of the poem he is marvellous amazing poet I have read almost half of his poem they r all great
Your Grandfather is a legend. People are given noble prices for the money they give, but the type of poem this is, he should have received the noble prize. He gave the message in a easy and short way. That's really great 👍👏😊
My father wrote this and I have the original in my possession. He was a kind loving person. I miss him so very much. He would be amazed at how far this has spread.
My brother first brought me home this poem to read when I was in 8th grade. That was 22 years ago, and it’s stuck with me for all these years. There are so many layers to this! Absolutely love it!
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of Life! There is Life and Death in words. But in this poem in particular I see Life. Thank you for sharing this incredible piece of writing. Peace!! TMJ_00
Our loved one liked this poem but he never knew who wrote it. He made me see the importance of the words but I didn't see the final piece of the picture until he was gone. Eric L. Bennett 10/17/71-9/11/01 That's how I know he would never want people hating in his name.
Thank you for the comments and for watching my movie. It was interesting to hear from some comments that there was a woman. The script I had did not mention that but I see the word "men" as universal in meaning, representing all human kind. So my take is everyone is represented in this movie as we all have our sticks of wood.
This poem is a great example of the differences humans keep among themselves for the mere reason of caste, class, colour or religion We really need these kind of poems to change the thinking of the few of not many
The person who was guided by religious prejudice and didn't gave his stick of wood because he saw someone not from his church was not a true Christian, because Christ our LORD GOD has commanded us to Love thy LORD thy GOD with all thy heart, mind, strength, understanding and soul and likwise LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF❤✝️ Blessed be the LORD for He has shown us the true way for peace HALLOWED BE HIS NAME FOREVER AND EVER OBEY HIM, FOR BLESSED IS THE ONE WHO LISTENS AND OBEYS HIS WORD
cool this is going to help me out ^.^ I'm reciting this poem for a contest and needed a poetic sort of way of saying it ^.^ thanks now I have pictures in my head to help my voice
Hey ....i just want to tell that according to the poem line"Their dying fire in need of logs,But the first one held hers back" this line of the 2nd stanza clearly shows that the first person was women not man....so plz.rectify it....well although everything was nice.
this poem is one of the best. though the video changed a few parts of the poem, it gives the same message. Us humans divide ourselves from one and other over the littlest things. whether it's race, religion, or economic status, people will always find a way to discriminate one and other over their corrupt beliefs of a superior race. some people don't understand that we are all humans and we shouldn't divide ourselves because one of us is different. everyone should be able to believe what they believe and love who they love without having to be discriminated against. discrimination is the worst crime.
Love the comments, please keep them coming and spread the word. The personification of gender is applied universally here and can mean man or woman. We had fun shooting this on a cold February afternoon on the frozen Long Lake in Traverse City, Michigan. The one and only time that I will ever step on a frozen lake and 3 hours of continuous shooting boiled down to 3 plus mins of film. No wonder why making movies is so expensive. Can we get this to a million views? I would be tickled pink for sure!
This Poem was actually anonymously written many years ago. We first saw the original in the back of a life skills program book called Breaking Barriers published by Gordon Graham and Company. It's a shame that James Patrick Kinney changed some key words (enough to avoid copyright infringement and call it his own in an attempt to capitalize or boost his ego. This Poem was anonymously written given as a gift and as all spiritual things It should remain that way. A gift unchanged This is pathetic Patrick James Kinney
Also the book that you reference, Breaking Barriers, was written by Gordon Graham, and published by the Human Development Training Institute, in the year 1981. To give you an idea of how much later this book in question was published, as I have never read it, and truthfully was unaware that a copy of my grandfathers poem was in it, my grandfather died in 1974.
Thank-you Travis Kinney Can you give us reference and/or access to the first publication of this poem? After our persual we will undoubtedly make a public written apology to your self and your Grand-father and admit our mistake. I have requested a copy of this poem as it appeared in Breaking Barriers. We will analize to see if the 20 or 30 percent of changed content as to avoid copyright infringement has been changed. Note; This is for our own knowledge base as to not make mistakes with our own material. Once Again Thank- you
If there was a way to send private messages I could provide you with my uncles email address as he is the one who is in control of everything. I understand that mistakes can be made, and it is not your fault, all of this happened decades ago. You can find me on facebook at facebook.com/Tnkr32713 and I can give you his information from there.
While we sit comfortably wrestling about who deserves all the credit to this incredible piece of writing, "The Cold Within" sinks in my fellow humans, we never know we might be composing the next chapter. I mean no disrespect to any of you, so let us accept the delicious meal without microscopically trying to decipher who the real cook was or rather is. The fact remains the meal will still be delicious anyway........!! Much love to you all, peace. TMJ_00
The matter of wonder is that still the issue is relevant.. Still persons are dying for their inner coldness(isolation)...So are we moving freeze carrying a cooler inside our heart?!!😕
Excellent, but did not your father originally write "Six men trapped by happenstance in dark and bitter cold", not six humans"? At least that is how I originally read it.
Sin can be explained as our human short comings, prejudices, failures, stereotyping etc. There are many meanings and angles that one can attach to that single word - Sin. Its is both on a personal level and society level as well. Hope this answers your question.
Thank you for this, My grandfather wrote this poem, and im sure that he would be very happy to see so many people hearing his message.
this my favorite poem honest
Travis Kinney wow that's cool
