    It's a really well built unit, lots of durability for the long haul. yes, I was surprised to see the 191T unable to give a reading for the LED's but my real pet peeve is the lack of high current fuse access, if they could allow access to the mA surely they could have done the same to the 11A fuse>>?

    I have to comment that I am really surprised that you don't have a LOT more subscribers... It is a shame, because, at least in my opinion, you do a very well thought out and thorough review, along with a highly detailed teardown (you know your stuff). You will undoubtedly grow this channel exponentially, over time, as your knowledge combined with your "no frills" approach to reviewing test equipment is just really, really good! Thank you for taking the time to do these reviews for us! Fred

    Again Uni-T is really showing some fresh ideas and a great look in these newer models. I was surprised the 191T didnt both read and light the LED''s since the less expensive 89XD does this. But I have to assume its got to do with the 89XD having that virtually Uni-T specific LED range with higher output voltage than possibly any other meter on the market. Its one of my favorite features on the UT89XD along with the nicely done visual indicator for both LED and continuity.

  • @yambo59
    @yambo59 5 лет назад +6

    I have this one and almost feel it should have gone 4.5 stars, its that good especially for the money - others sell for more and give you less in both quality and performance.

    • @thetechgenie7374
      @thetechgenie7374 4 года назад +2

      I agree even through it you have to take back cover off to access 10 amp fuse. How many times are going going to over current 10 amp range? It the smaller one you usually blow. Plus you have threaded post, so you won't strip the plastic over time changing it. I look at the details like this. I would have gave it a 4.5, as nothing close to its price range? Even with a Fluke that over $300 you have to take cover off to access fuses. So long it has threaded posts it gets a pass on that and not worth mentioning?

    Hi there! I bought this Uni-T UT191T per Darren's contacts, and really like it. Where I don't have an oscilloscope, wondering if anyone has any resources to help test power quality using a True RMS multimeter? E.g.: I have a portable generator, and would like to test power quality measure on it to know if it is good for sensitive electronics (what doesn't have circuit boards these days?) and also as an indicator of the generators health and maintenance. Things like THD, voltage stability, etc.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  3 года назад +2

      Wow, tough question. 191T has LoZ and LPF plus the Auto Backlight ...17B is slightly larger with a bigger display , audible diode mode and slightly better input protection. Both great multimeters..I'm a big fan of the 191T so it's my First Pick! 😄👍

    • @Hack3rPT
      @Hack3rPT 3 года назад +1

      @@KeepOnTesting Yup it's a really tough pick... I'm probably going for the 191T because of that sweet IP65 rating and 2 meter shock proof. The bigger display and audible diode more aren't really important to me, do you think overall the better input protection justifies buying the 17B PRO over the 191T? (I don't work with more than 240v and I also don't plan to measure anything above 5 amps, and also most of the time I work with 12v or 24v.)

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  3 года назад +1

      @@Hack3rPT I think the 191T will be a perfect fit for you. I absolutely love that multimeter and its one of the most utilized on my bench! It still has great input protection just not quite as beefy as the 17B but awfully close.

    • @Hack3rPT
      @Hack3rPT 3 года назад +1

      @@KeepOnTesting Thanks for the recommendation and for the awesome content on your channel! Just two more questions if you don't mind: Do you think I should buy some replacement fuses (the 600mA ones)? And also, I currently only need this for hobby use, do you think it will still be good to use in maybe 5\10 years for electrical work?

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  3 года назад +1

      @@Hack3rPT Having some extra mA fuses on hand is always a great idea and definitely recommended. Keep everything together in a good case so its always there when you need it. Almost guaranteed you will make use of them at some point!
      The 191T will still be a strong multimeter even a decade from now. Multimeters in general don't age or lose their usefuness as fast as other instruments or electronic devices so it will be useful now and in the future!
      I have some multimeters that are 25-30+ years old and they're accurate and useful even today.

    Good day Darren, I have recently received this unit from Uni T (no pun intended) and there is something I noticed fresh from the packaging; the circumference of the knob has traces of unknown fluid. I can't determine the aforementioned fluid but I assure you that it was really noticeable and I swabed it using my very dry fingers and its really present. Is that something I need to worry about?, hence the UFO (Unkown Fluid Oozing) *Pun intended. Thanks for your response.

    • @KeepOnTesting

      Hello Erwin, that primordial ooze is just a form of dielectric grease for lubricating the selector switch. Its nothing to worry about and is usually a good thing. It appears UNI-T was a little overzealous in its application on your unit. Wipe off the excess and you should be all set.
