I'm sure this is hard because your boyfriend doesn't sound motivated, but there's two things I know. First, education is one of the easiest majors out there. I have my M.Ed. and there wasn't a single test. It's pretty much just going to classes and writing papers. So, if any of his fear is about the difficulty of the classes, it's not hard. Second, most-- if not all-- public school teaching jobs are unionized, so the more experience and education he gets, the more he will get paid. I'm sharing this assuming he loves his teaching job.
