- My old shredder broke long ago and since I'm building a FreeNAS server for my filesystem, I might as well aide that by going paperless. I need two solutions, a scanner and a shredder. This is the shredder aspect that will securely shred the files making them un-recoverable.
Unlike typical scanners, this one is a Micro-Cut, meaning that it doesn't shred in strips, it shreds both ways and in very tiny pieces. The result is similar to confetti. I call this my confetti maker. This scanner will shred up to 12-pages. It will shred CDs, DVDs, and credit cards as well. It is recommended that after 100 or so pages you put a lubricant page down it to lubricate and sharpen the blades. They have little bits of metal in the paper that do this. This shredder will also take staples and small paper clips. This shredder appears to be a re-branded Aurora AS1225CD.

I have this exact shredder. Works great. Mine just died though after almost 4 years of use. I will probably get the same one again.
I still think Fellows is the best but they are alot of money!

Well done you've just made that paper completely unrecyclable, by the way CDs are made from plastic not glass.
Who cares. The point of a shredder is to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information. All united states government agencies are required to shred documents down to 5 square millimeter shreds for secure disposal. If that makes it so the paper can't be recycled, cry me a river. At least my bank statements can be securely disposed.
Maybe the recycler wont take it. Doesn't mean it can't go out with yard waste or composted. Depends on the paper and what might be attached to it. Also makes decent packing material or animal bedding.
