    It would nice to have a time machine and go back to 1957 and buy this beautiful '57 Chevy for $3k.

    My father had one of these when I was a kid in the late 50's. It was exactly this color, inside and out. It had a 283 cu engine, a 2 speed power glide automatic transmission, just like this one. I don't think ours had power steering or breaks, but I'm not sure though. In my opinion, this was the most beautiful car Chevy ever made, and this was the most beautiful color too. I took my drivers test in this car. I had three try's to parallel park it correctly. I got it on the third try.

    My '57 Bel Air was this color -Dusk Pearl - back when I was in college in the mid 60's. There were several around our small MN town at that time. My father had a Canyon Coral 210 model at the same time.

    India Ivory isn’t the interior color. It is the color of the roof.

    Really a perfect restored and wonderful looking car. And if I use the word perfect it only means what it says. Thanks for sharing. I just wonder how such a nice restoration is not documented. If I could buy this car I would love to have full documentation of this art work.

    My 57 Bel Air two door hardtop was an original Dusk Pearl car. We did not find out until it was being prepared for paint and body work.

    I grew up in the back seat of an identical 57. My mom almost gave birth to me in it on the way to the hospital. A bit of trivia… the color photographic films in the late 50s were never able to correctly capture this color, so any period color photos of the Dusk Pearl always appeared Silver.

    Nice one, I had one just like it back in 68 my brother gave me as high school grad. I've restored a few cars way way way under what some professional shop would charge. I buy everything from classic industries.. paint done by a guy in his garage who dies alot of custom paints for low rider show cars.. last one I paid 12k.. if Foose or classic car restoration shop would do it.. probably charge 25k just for paint.. interior I have done at a small shop.. in business since the 50s.. Nice car..

  • @cartunman

    I enjoyed your video and I agree the car is beautiful. I know this car is long gone but I have to point out that the Dusk Pearl was not a rare color. And the India Ivory is the color of the top. I have a 57 Dusk Pearl/India Ivory four door sedan. I think there aren’t so many of them around is that when the 60s and 70s came along guys wanted black or red or blue. Anything but grandma’s color.
    I just had my engine worked on. I’ve had it for ten years and have about 39000 miles. It’s was in storage near Kansas City for 30 years.
    Im not criticizing your information it’s just that’s a popular misconception about that beautiful color!

    I remember seing one of these in the 60's. I was born in 1953 and my uncle had a copper color 57 4 door sedan. Went thru 3 automatic transmission's before putting a 3 speed floor shift in it.

    • @craigjorgensen4637
      @craigjorgensen4637 3 года назад

      It was probably. Turboglide and not a Powerglide. Turboglides were available from 1957-1961 and they were JUNK. One of the worst automatics ever. The Transmission Shops hated them and would typically convert the cars to a Powerglide or a manual.

    • @gregory1953able
      @gregory1953able 3 года назад

      @@craigjorgensen4637 I think the worst tranmission was the one with GR instead of L for low on the automatics. My Bro in Law had a 59 Impala Convertable with that transmission and got rid of the car shortly. I was beautiful tho. Canary Yellow with a pretty Olive Green interior. He worked on cars in his garage and was pretty knowledgable about those things

    When they were installing the intake manifold they dropped and bounced off the front of the grill hit the concrete as it bounced off the mechanics big toe but it looks operable why don't you start the engine see if there are any leaks in the intake manifold to be safe to be certain Everything Is Beautiful

    Sorry but that color is hardly rare. It was quite popular that year. Looking at this car it’s quite possibly a repaint with some metallic added. Doing this is pretty common. This is a very nice car! No Power Steering…ugh.
