Except those who are fast enough to dodge it. Goblin sharks are extremely slow and sluggish swimmers, but they're effective predators nonetheless. Those slingshot jaws help it catch prey much faster than itself, which is entirely necessary in a place where no light exists. Speed both is and is not a factor. Swimming away from a predator or towards a prey animal is difficult to do, but fast jaws are there to catch faster prey. Getting out of the way of those jaws may be possible, but it is very difficult.
