Hail from the Netherlands! Maldoror Chants I was an underrated masterpiece. Somehow, I have the feeling this one is going to be even better. Anything with an Oceanic theme is an immediate sell for me. Can't wait for when the preorder goes live. I've set aside a few hours of the 25th to loop this a few times (and Gaerea's new album too).

Schammasch elegantly reinstate the concept of the Greek Tragedy with an omniscient narrator's vocal register unfolding MULTIFACETED and guitarwork captivating the listener like the embrace of inescapable tentacles. The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean is a monumental work of art with layers of intricacies as dense as the depths it exalts! Schammasch, I salute you!

There is a lot of great metal bands but Schammasch is something different. Musically they are amazing and when you read the lyrics, you can see how much effort they put into it. Those guys give me the chills

Goddammit this is all I have hoped for. Your _Hermaphrodite_ made me read Lautréamont and I’ve been waiting for a new Maldoror chant of yours ever since. Seeing you interpret Lautréamont, I even believed to notice some of his influence elsewhere, especially on _In Dialogue with Death_ … no quotes, I think, just the type of poetry and the choice of words. Incredibly inspiring.
I don't know if this album is their best, but I have to say that it's the album that's impacting me very strongly and deeply, and that's because of the voices. The vocal work is really wonderful. There's a lot of rage, fury and also drama, passion, suffering. And if that wasn't enough, there's the female voice of the great Kathrine Shepard. No, this is too much. I'm dying pleasantly. Thanks Schammasch, see you on the other side.

I have already heard it on spotify, but I have some words about the last song I want to share. Spoilers for those who haven't heard it yet!; The last song on old ocean, is like a homage to old black metal. It's like they went further and further back in time. From Gorgoroth riffing to Bathory viking chants at the end, and then ending with Dungeon synth from Mortiis and Burzum. My god, and the title as well "I hail you, old ocean" so many layers to this.......I really loved that, hailing to old BM roots, and hailing to the maldoror story, hails to all old roots that made us be🙏
