I'll never forget when this happened, it was so good to have Al back. He absolutely killed and showed why he should have always been on that stage. It wasn't too long after that he spilled the beans (as he always does) about the full reunion and I took my daughter to see Brian, Mike, Al, Dave and Bruce for C50. I'd seen Mike and Bruce a decade earlier, and they were very good, but C50 was something else entirely. Wow.
OK These guys have been singing for 50 long years ~ give credit where credit is due and these guys are now in their 70's and they are doing a Wonderful job ~ Please enjoy their reunion of 50 years together ~ Mike, Al, Bruce and Brian!! ( The old saying goes if you can't say something nice ~ Don't say it all!! ~ Congrats Guys on 50 years ~ Love The Beach Boys ~ RIP ~ Dennis and Carl ~ God bless!! xxxx
I saw the Mike Love version of the Beach Boys, and it was a great show. All the vocal parts were there, along with the instrumentation. Mike Love did his stuff as a front-man, and it was great. Most of the band were younger cats, who knew the stuff down cold, and played it with respect.
Band lineup: Beach Boys present: Mike Love- tambourine and vocals Al Jardine- rhythm guitar, bass and vocals Bruce Johnston- electric piano and vocals Backup band- John Cowsill- drums and vocals Matt Jardine- vocals John Stamos- drums, bongo, lead guitar and vocals Randell Kirsch- vocals, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, and bass Scott Totten- vocals, rhythm guitar, bass and vocals Christian Love- vocals, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and bass Tim Bonhomme- keyboards and organ
I agree. And there's no point in arguing now anyway. All the original surviving members have reunited and are touring as we speak. I saw them in Denver it was one AWESOME! show. I haven't heard Mike and Brian's voices sound as strong in years as they did that night they were both right on. Al and Bruce were great as always. And David Marks surprised me I had no idea he was that great a singer and that AWESOME! a guitar player. His guitar solos rocked!!!
I love Brian Wilson. I have studied his music since birth. It was HIS decision not to be on the stage over the years. It's tough that CARL isnt there anymore, or DENNIS. They miss that more than anything. As long as theyre playing those songs, Brian will ALWAYS be there, know what i mean ?
It's always more validating to have some original members or near original members in the band and that they stay true to the original "sound" of the Beach Boys. Lynyrd Skynyrd has stayed true to their sound and every member that they have has played with them sometime previously in the past years so I never feel like it's "phony". They have to survive. We all do.
Al, (Jardine) it was nice to see you a part of the "group" as it is. I like what you're doing on your own (and keep doing it!) but we pray that a 50 year reunion TOUR will happen and that Brian will join. I love your CD "Postcard from California" and can't wait for another from you. Keep up the good work!
Carl was "the voice" and Dennis a wild but amazing tallent in some of his early songs. Yes, Brian (amazingly creative back then) should get on stage with the remainder just for us.
my bud and I used to make fun of the sometimes kooky way Bruce would come across, but there is NO one i know who is such a thorough and capable musician who knows the significance of this bands place in history than Bruce Johnston. he is the REAL DEAL, and then some.
So awesome seeing and hearing Al again. :-) Agree with Boyders about bringing Matt Jardine back. He recreated Brian's studio falsetto better than anyone else has.
As good as it is to see Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and Al Jardine on stage together again, Brian Wilson is still missing for whatever reason. True they are getting older and Mike Love does not hold his vocals as well but this may be the last time we EVER see this many together again. Their music has been part of our culture for 50 years now. They have the right to get older. MIke must know his vocals aren't as good, and it must pain him.
GREAT to see Al back in the group! Wish that would continue. David Marks should have been there, too. Where was Brian??? Disappointed he chose to stay away. Awesome to see the crowd so fired up!
@berkshireboy62 I figure if the Glenn Miller band can still be on tour (whose leader died in WWII - with now NO original members a part of it...then the BB are comparatively still in the game!
Classic...Ok there Dennis, Carl, Brian Wilson...Mike Love and Al Jardine..Correct me if Im wrong..as original members. Then after 70, they replaced off and on.. I always listened to the BB, but only really what I heard on the radio and never had any of their albums...like I did the Beatles whose names I knew.. Both some of the best band or maybe the best ever.. This version of Sloop is kind of slow it seems. I want to see them Live from 65 or around then..Seems alltheir live stuff is 80'sorlater
mike, carl, dennis, brian, and al are the original members. to give u a breif overview after the released their first single Al left to become a dentist and was replaced by David Marks and that last for the first five albums then al came back to replace Brian on the road and the Wilson Brothers father fired David so Brian had to go back on tour then after the release of California Girls Brian left to touring for good and his first replacement was The Rhinestone Cowboy Glen Campbell and after about six months he was replaced by a guy in this video named Bruce Johnston he's the guy on the keyboard singing and that was in 1965 and from then on Bruce was a member of the Beach Boys and Brian eventually came back to tour
@gittahfiend He sounded much better in person than he does here. So does his dear old dad. The Beach Boys concert I went to a couple years ago was so great I wouldn't think twice about seeing them again!!!
Yes, I thought so too until I read in Keith Badman's book "The Beach Boys" that 1970 in London Bruce actually ordered the other B.B.'s off the stage so he could play and sing The Girl I once Knew solo. To my knowledge this hadn't happened when other founding members sang the lead & I can only imagine what the other boys thought about this. As Carl said on another occasion to Brian (see "Wouldn't it be Nice" Brian's book), that's what rehearsals are for! i.e. don't change things on the stage.
This is the Beach Boys in name only. Without the Wilson brothers it can never be the same. As for Brian staying away, why wouldn't he. His career has soared since he released Smile and toured. His albums are bringing critical acclaim. These guys bullied and stifled Brians music just when he was at his peak. Why would he want to be near them other than at the end of a phone? I know I wouldn't.
You reckon? Interesting..... To me it's always seemed like Mike enjoyed having other people sing leads on songs. I think he enjoys the blend and harmony of various different voices, not just his own.
it's sad to see so many harsh comments, and I admit that I felt the same way, but I've changed my tune. To me, they'll never be the Beach Boys without the 5 original boys from Hawthorne, & w/Carl & Dennis gone, that's impossible. Bruce has been around long enough to be more/less an original, and where was David Marks? His contributions too often go unrecognized. I was hoping to see Brian with them, but I'm not surprised that he wasn't. Al still sounds great, & Mike's holding his own at nearly 70
Give these guys a break ! This is the Greatest Rock-N-Roll band from America. They are still in great shape with Al Jardine, even if Brian Wilson chooses to sit out as he has for the last 40yrs.
Jeffrey Foskett and Matt Jardine truly considered honary Beach Boys because they are igood on falsetto vocals. I can think of also John Stamos and Billy Hinsche as honary Beach Boys. Are there any supporting musicians you can think of as honary Beach Boys?
I'm sad..They were so great..Maybe Brian with them would be great, but Carl and Dennis were without a doubt, a very important part of their chemistry. I still love and support them.
@coolsweetgroovy If the lineup doesn't matter to you, then i think you really mean you like the MUSIC of The Beach Boys, right ? There was a special, unique sound/blend with the original 5 or 6. If you want to hear that sound listen to the records or CDs. If you want to have a good time remembering, by all means, go see the road group now !
@Mozart1220 well then you haven't seen "The Beach Boys" ( the Mike and Bruce show) in quite a while. There has been one "upstart" after another for years now.
@Javier23gol Although it's great no AWESOME!!! to see Al this was never a fake Beach Boys band. Those who criticize need to see them in concert like I did. I once felt the same way but after seeing them in person walked away feeling completely different!!!!
@rouens Al and Mike may have had their problems and I myself hated the lawsuit thing. And yes Mike does have a huge ego always has. But when it comes down to it the music is what matters. The Beach Boys still rock and I loved seeing them together!!!
ill give it to him for his service 1966- 1972 and after her came back in i think was 75 all he ever did after that was play with a damn mic stand. im pretty sure thats the reason he stayed with mic instead of brian and al. cause mike will allow someone to stand up there and be a goofball like him. brian wouldnt.
@sgtBilko75 It's not awkward for me at all since Brian wrote the songs. What IS awkward is someupstart who was never with the band singing Good vibrations.
@hectorsalinasisback Oh really ???!!! I was there at Mike's wedding and they coraled all the attendees under a balcony, where Mike is read/or reads, I've forgotten/ a 'special message from Bill Clinton.. I have it on personal home video.
president Reagan and the BB's. Ok this was AMERICAN SUPERIORITY SON!! I'm good with the rest of the world, but Ronald Reagan and the Beach Boys? Ok USA RULES!
Mike (like many 60's band lead singers) is losing his vocal touch. Mike, Bruce, Al, Brian, Dave Marks and yes Blondie, Ricky and touring BB's Ed Carter & Bill Hinsche should go out on an extended farewell tour. Play some songs we haven't heard live in a long time. Wild Honey, Marcella, Susie Cincinnati, Funky Pretty, Breakaway, This Whole World, Hawaii, Wonderful, You Still Believe In Me, Cotten Fields, All This Is That, Disney Girls, You're So Good To Me, Good Timin, etc.
I'll never forget when this happened, it was so good to have Al back. He absolutely killed and showed why he should have always been on that stage. Same almost 10 years. It was a nice little reunion that got us all hyped for the eventual 50th tour.
@@Javier23gol Now hoping for the 60th tour. 😊
I had two chances to see them, but Carl was gone, so I didn't go. So sorry.
I met Al in 2015. Friendliest, most down to earth guy you'd ever meet!
OK These guys have been singing for 50 long years ~ give credit where credit is due and these guys are now in their 70's and they are doing a Wonderful job ~ Please enjoy their reunion of 50 years together ~ Mike, Al, Bruce and Brian!! Foskett's great.
I absolutely love the beach boys, no matter how they sounded I'd be going insane in the audience, instead of just sitting there like everyone else.:(
Band lineup:
Beach Boys present:
Mike Love- tambourine and vocals
Al Jardine- rhythm guitar, bass and vocals
Bruce Johnston- electric piano and vocals
Backup band-
John Cowsill- drums and vocals
Matt Jardine- vocals
John Stamos- drums, bongo, lead guitar and vocals
Randell Kirsch- vocals, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, and bass
Scott Totten- vocals, rhythm guitar, bass and vocals
Christian Love- vocals, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and bass

And there's John Cowsill (of the 1960s band "TheCowsills), drummer extraordinaire!!!
Its amazing by adding AL back into the lineup the harmony is that much sharper.. They sound great!
The best band for the best President's birthday celebration!
Before Bruce, Glen Campbell filled in for Brian on tour. For "Good Vibrations", Mike Love's son, Christian sings lead.
It's always more validating to have some original members or near original members in the band and that they stay true to the original "sound" of the Beach Boys. Lynyrd Skynyrd has stayed true to their sound and every member that they have has played with them sometime previously in the past years so I never feel like it's "phony". They have to survive. i love the Beach Boys! their music is eternal,thanks for uploading the videos.
Al is the best. Great vocals

Never did like Disney Girls or Tears in the Morning. His only 2 contributions. Un BB-like.
I WANT TO SEE THE BEACH BOYS..THEY ARE A LEGENDARY GROUP...THEY ARE THE GREATEST..
nice to see how fun they have. mike loves smiles. how in the good old years
If they go on tour, there is nothing wrog with this band, but they need the Wondermints ( Brian Wilsons band).
Hope they will tour again.
So awesome seeing and hearing Al again. :-) Agree with Boyders about bringing Matt Jardine back. He recreated Brian's studio falsetto better than anyone else has.
Matt is awesome!!!! ❤️❤️😎😎💕
It s vrong Matt have lovely and handsome voice but Jeff is very big talented

RONALD REAGAN + THE BEACH BOYS = ONE HAPPY GIRL! :) love them both
Sound Great!!
America's Band!
@berkshireboy62 I figure if the Glenn Miller band can still be on tour (whose leader died in WWII - with now NO original members a part of it...then the BB are comparatively still in the game!
The greatest band ever the beach boys

I love all their music, but I think California Girls probably describes the band the most.
OMG!! Mike Love looks like Bob Hope!!!!!!!
Posted fast like LITTLE HONDA - Great job !

Hard to believe. He was kind of wimpy.
didnt appreciate them the first time around ,love them now,going to see brian wilson in sept
Great ! Thanks for sharing. I only wondered what happened to Mike's voice ?
It got better
@75DrummerBoy valid point .,i do wonder what really led to there falling out as those two were on the same side in the 70s against the wilsons..
This is the Beach Boys in name only. Without the Wilson brothers it can never be the same. As for Brian staying away, why wouldn't he. His career has soared since he released Smile and toured. Scary to see Gene Landy in that opening video. So close to the POTUS!
DAM FLA are you sure you saw him
DAM FLA how did you know he was in the opening video and how did you see him
Ryan Thomas I saw him too, still brain washing Brian.
I love them!!!!! for ever!!!!
hi i love this beach boys concert
a miracle that mike the ego love let al sing lead
You reckon? Interesting.....
To me it's always seemed like Mike enjoyed having other people sing leads on songs. I think he enjoys the blend and harmony of various different voices, not just his own.
I'd pay any amount of money to see Brian, Mike, Bruce, and Al Jardine live in 2011 :)
Where's Dennis. He is a legend
it's sad to see so many harsh comments, and I admit that I felt the same way, but I've changed my tune. When is this coming out on DVD
Give these guys a break ! This is the Greatest Rock-N-Roll band from America. They are still in great shape with Al Jardine, even if Brian Wilson chooses to sit out as he has for the last 40yrs.
Randell is great on Falsetto. Matt Jardine and Jeff Foskett are both amazing too.

@coolsweetgroovy You're welcome. brian sits now and doesn't really play. He does sing.
Cool stuff, but what's up with Mike's mic?
@gittahfiend I saw him in August 2009 and he sounded fine. Maybe he was just under the weather here?
Actually...Christian Love did a great job!!...after all he is part "Wilson", but it would be awesome to have Matt and Allan back in the Touring Group!
@thewaterfalloflove thanks I didn't know that!
A backing track is playing with good vibrations. Chris seemed to forget some parts.
Without Carl or Brian's vocals, the Beach Boys are just a shell of themselves.
@coolsweetgroovy If the lineup doesn't matter to you, then i think you really mean you like the MUSIC of The Beach Boys, right ? There was a special, unique sound/blend with the original 5 or 6. @Mozart1220 well then you haven't seen "The Beach Boys" ( the Mike and Bruce show) in quite a while. There has been one "upstart" after another for years now.
God dammit Brian should have took the measly 20 minutes out of his precious time to be there, and make history!
why does mike love never take his hat off? any picture or video of his bald head exist?
Mejor epoca de los 50 en adelante
@Javier23gol
Although it's great no AWESOME!!! to see Al this was never a fake Beach Boys band. Those who criticize need to see them in concert like I did. I once felt the same way but after seeing them in person walked away feeling completely different!!!!
Wonderful!Love it.
I think you're probably right. He looks completely different than 40 years ago.
Wow did you notice how Mike's son is now a lead singer..
@tblackjacks1 I know he passed away in 1998... i'm talking in this vid...
@mdefil23 No they are not all touring, if you keep reading on you will find that Brian is gonna sit it out!
To me the lineup doesn't matter I love the Beach Boys
@rouens
Al and Mike may have had their problems and I myself hated the lawsuit thing. And yes Mike does have a huge ego always has. But when it comes down to it the music is what matters. The Beach Boys still rock and I loved seeing them together!!!
lol all bruce johnson has ever done with them for the last 40 or so years was stand there and bang on the damn keyboards!
ill give it to him for his service 1966- 1972 and after her came back in i think was 75 all he ever did after that was play with a damn mic stand. im pretty sure thats the reason he stayed with mic instead of brian and al. cause mike will allow someone to stand up there and be a goofball like him. brian wouldnt.
@@noahnewhouse7795 - How much piano has Brian played live in the last 20 years?
@sgtBilko75 It's not awkward for me at all since Brian wrote the songs. What IS awkward is someupstart who was never with the band singing Good vibrations.
Wow thaught Love and Jardine were about to slit each others throats the past few years, did the make up?
@silvershadow415 Didn't he have some sort of a breakdown?
@RankielGuitar i know i thought you meant in the past
@CPMForce2000 He doubles on one note ...like Brian did with Carl on the record
@hectorsalinasisback Oh really ???!!! I was there at Mike's wedding and they coraled all the attendees under a balcony, where Mike is read/or reads, I've forgotten/ a 'special message from Bill Clinton.. I have it on personal home video.
@Mozart1220 those days are over now
not the same without Brian Wilson's high voice
True, although Brian hasn't been able to reach a decent and clear falsetto since the early 70's.
;-)
@RankielGuitar Carl Wilson sang it but he's dead now.
@BeachBoysGuy1 Yes John thanks
@Mozart1220 Thank u
4:38 = OOOOPS!!!
president Reagan and the BB's. Ok this was AMERICAN SUPERIORITY SON!! I'm good with the rest of the world, but Ronald Reagan and the Beach Boys? Ok USA RULES!
not unlikely. I'm told he has had hip replacement twice. Say what you will about Mike....he is a hard worker.
No sound
@coolsweetgroovy Bruce

So many reasons why Brian isn't there....
Mike and Bruce look like twins! Yh Mike's voice is shot! Al still sounds great though!!
@newyorktown Thats whats going to happen, and they aregoing to use Brians Band.
SAD, sO SAD ,Was this Mike Loves 100 birthday or Ronald Ragan 's
@silvershadow415 Yeah,Mikes pretty much had it.he should let christian take his spot.
@nonnenja2281
But if they rejoined it wouldn't be the beach boys in name only band anymore.
visualize the driver
I think that they are lip syncing. Their lips are in sync with what we are hearing
@silvershadow415
Brian Wilson is doing his own thing with a better band. And making better music.
Good to see Al. But....no Wilson's, no Beach Boys.
Mike Love looks like just got out casket.
@RankielGuitar carl wilson and mike love
