your relationship with your son is absolutely precious. He has a great dad!
Thanks so much! Appreciate that.
I feel that this episode is a hidden gem. For now anyway!
Phenomenal. There , I avoided expletives. That clip was too wholesome! Love it
Never, ever discard that broccoli stem. It's the best part. Cut off outer layers to reveal tender white part. SOOOOOO good, even raw. Put on a bit of salt ... Sautee with chicken or fish ... Try it. I think you will be surprised. I used to work in a produce department ... and always saved the trimmings to take home ...
Not enough people know this!
@@sandrodelacruz8125 For years I worked in the produce department of a nice grocery store... When we trimmed broccoli, I always rescued the stems and gave them as gifts to my favored customers...
I was not aware of this. Gonna try it
gawd yes. the stems are so sweet and delicious! I always choose heads that have big, honkin' stems left on. Those "trimmed" florette only heads get the stink eye from me.
Omg yaaaaaaas ... I used to throw too till I saw a cooking video on yt n they use it. My reaction after trying was like 🤯🥴😍😍😍😍😍
Wonderful. Amazing. A parent that actually talks to and listens to their children.
Thank you! I'm not perfect, but I try my best.
The thing I like is he allows his kids the freedom to disagree with him with no fear of reprisals
Why do I get the impression your son is going to be a good cook as he gets older if he isn't already? Cooking traditions should live on, they do with our family. Kudos on your wonderful cooking videos, we've tried numerous ones with delicious results!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the recipes. I sure hope he learns to cook. Right now he's just a good critic lol.
I find that dissolving an anchovy in the oil and garlic adds so much umami flavor to simple pasta dishes like this without any fishiness.
LOVE it when your son comes on and gives his little "review" --- so sweet!!!
I love this channel. Your style is so laid back and chill. Also like, being open to twists and changes is refreshing. So many cooks and chefs are like "this is the only way this should be done".
Cooking is all about feel and shouldn't be rigid and one size fits all. Well that's my opinion anyway and what I try to instill on this channel. Thanks for liking the videos!
Your son is the best critic, love the way he looks at you, he must love to have a Dad that cooks delicious meals.
I truly do not understand how your channel is not one of the most popular. Keep up the quality content. Your fans and subscribers love it!
Thanks a lot man! I appreciate you watching and am happy you're enjoying the channel.
Hi ! I often make “Pasta con Broccoli” too, it's just that way with lots of hot pepper (Peperoncino) 😉 . Ciao from Italy ! 🇮🇹👋
I love lots of peperoncino in it too! Thanks for watching!
Your boys adorable and the dish looks tremendous, just the way it is. ❤️❤️
Thanks very much! Always appreciate it!
I’m blessed with kids who love veggies just like your son. I’m definitely making this! And I thought creating a basket by twirling the pasta is all just to make it look pretty on the plate but didn’t know it preserves the heat of the pasta. Always great to learn something new!
Whenever I comment, it’s always on older videos. But I just watched this and my mama (I’m adopted lol) who is Italian and Greek used to make this for me and my brothers ALL the time growing up. Just like this. Absolutely delicious. One of my favorite meals
Came to revisit this...months later. And I just want to let everyone know. This recipe still kicks ass!
Love this dish. My mom always made it with broccoli rabe but my kids didn’t like it but liked the regular broccoli version. Also watched your eggplant show and again just loved it. My mom’s all over again. Your tip putting fresh basil on each layer was masterful. Made it two weeks in a row. Don’t think I can ever stop making these favorite dishes. Viva Italia.
I would steam the broccoli to lock in the vitamins and minerals, and then use the steamer water for sauce and add some more water for spaghetti. Great idea for new way to enjoy broccoli!
im glad i found this channel. the videos are simple, it shows all the steps. and its calming.
I love this channel. Your recipes and cooking style rock! Your son is the cutest boy and he loves to try your dishes once they are ready to eat. I'm a teacher so kids are great and they can learn so much from seeing their parents cook and pick up good cooking habits. its a wonderful skill to practice and perfect over time. Some of the dishes you make and display look awesome and the ideas keep coming for me to try pasta with a variety of veggies. Mushooms and eggplant are two of my favorites to eat/mix in with pasta. Thanks again!
One of the best authentic videos ever. Out of the mouth if babes.
Thanks so much!
Great receipt. Just like my mother made it... she also made it with sautéed onions instead of garlic (try it). We love it both ways.
This is my no meat Monday dish for today. I am taking your advice and making it my own. I will add onions in the beginning. I was raised with onion in everything. So this is my take on making it my own😍💕Ty
Hope you enjoy it!
@@SipandFeast the Spaghetti with broccoli turned out wonderful. Thanks for encouraging your viewers to make it their own!!! It’s a fear of it not turning out right but it worked out really well!!! You Rock!!!💯💕
I love pasta and Broccoli, exquisite recipe with few ingredients thanks for sharing. Have a nice day.
Thanks so much!
Garlic broccoli on white pizza is excellent too
These guys make me smile so big. I too always thought nesting was only to make it look cool but of course!, it keeps it hot. Definitely trying this dish very soon. Thank you for the joy & the recipe.
One of the best ! Love all variations of this dish. Sometimes with a little toasted breadcrumbs on top too 🙂
Toasted breadcrumbs are great! Thanks for the comment!
i love the father son bonding in this household... so so sweet and loving
I love your recipes, exactly how Mom made it. What is new is what has been forgotten. Great work!!!
I love that saying! Thanks for liking the recipes.
I enjoyed the video, well done. Personally, I would cook the broccoli in the pan with the EVOO, garlic, and a little water to steam it and help cook it. I would also peel the broccol and not waist the stem. Last but not least I'd finish cooking the pasta in broccoli for the last 4 minutes or so, so the pasta can absorb any flavors. Another thing I might do, at least to try it, would be to add the juice of half a lemon to give an interesting twist. Then I'd add fresh parmesan. Still, the way you cooked the dish looks delicious!
I love a lot of these RUclips chefs no drama not about themselves just cook nice simple ingredients that Produce wonderful looking meals. Great job
Thank you so much
I've fallen in love with your channel, you make everything look so freaking easy.
Thanks so much!
Making this tonight! Just so happens I have everything I need for it in the house already. Can’t wait! 😁
Enjoy these videos, thank you, keep them coming
Broccoli and pasta are always a good idea. I make variations of it, often.
Thanks! Just found your channel and enjoying myself!
Thanks! Hope you like the rest of the videos!
Excellent...now, of course, I'll have to make some..thanks again for another delish recipe👏👏
Thank you! Appreciate you watching and hope you enjoy it!
Enjoyed this video both for the food and the easy casual manner of presentation. Best part was the cameo by your son, fully expect he will have his own channel soon!
Thank you! He drops by every once in a while to be the taste tester lol.
Wow I learnt something today. The nest thing keeps the steam in. Great video
Thanks very much!
Seems like a delicious affordable meal. I will keep this in mind for future use.
Looks Good!! I will make this!!
when i was a little child, i wanted to go to america..so i packed my little bag, my Mom asked me, where i would be going to..i said to her, to america haha..after 20meters i was going back to Home..Well, nice dish with broccoli..many greetings from Brunswick in Germany and thx, grazie and todah rabah :)
i eat a lot of broccoli, never even thought of cooking it with pasta before! looks delicious!
My first visit to your channel and I'm very happy I found it. I really DIG this dish. You made it with spaghetti and it just looks too YYUUMMYY!! I esp appreciate you including you son and his honest thoughts and opinions into your vid. You're very laid back and fun to watch. I look forward to watching many more vids and learning many more recipes from you. New subbie for sure. Arlene
Awesome video. I like how you bring the kids in for honest feedback. I lived in northern italy for 3 years and use to eat a pasta similar to this. Enjoy and thank you.
Jody from Miami sends
Thank you! I'd like to add them more, but normally I'm filming when they aren't home. I'm sure you had some amazing food living there for 3 years!
Love your channel my wife and I were just watching you and your son had a great time thank you so much for the recipes have a great day
Thanks so much.
You're at a master at what you do, man. Down to the presentation!
Ok. Try this. My grandmother was from Naples and this was a peasant soup her mother also made. Throw your garlic, broccoli and salt in the water and cook the broccoli until it's soft. The water should also have a slight green hue. Now add your spaghetti broken into 2 inch pieces and cook as usual. Add a few tablespoons of olive oil at the end and thin some Parmesan in the soup bowl. I love it both ways, but I am curious if it started a a peasant soup. All Italian peasant soup is water based and of course amazing.
Sounds great! The version you describe sounds like more of a soup. My Grandmother made a lot of those broken spaghetti peasant soup recipes. I always remember the cucuzza soup growing up. Often instead of the big cucuzza, she would use small zucchini just cubed. Reminds me, I need to make a video for that one.
Yes, it was always served as a soup this way. She rarely made it dry the way you showed, but both are awesome.
Super awesome pasta and presentation.
My favorite pasta dish.
A nice dash of heavy cream +fresh black pepper gives this dish a nice elevation
Getting fresh broccoli from the farm! I'm going to make spaghetti your way! It loose delicious.
Thanks very much! Hope you enjoy it!
You continue to prove good Italian cooking is quite simple. Mangia, mangia!
One of my favorite go tos. Thanks Jim & son! Oh the old food touching issue! Love it! 😃
Thanks Marty! He couldn't wait to try this one.
@@SipandFeast Bought both broccoli and asparagus yesterday to make this. My basil isn't quite big enough yet and I won't buy it. He's welcome to come over! 😃
Proud papa moment!! Love it!!!!
This looks yummy, totally making this tomorrow!!!
Amazing! very very good. Broccolis are delicious: you can find them everywhere in any time.
i've been making a way less healthy version of this by adding bunch of green onions, some toasted pine nuts, some cream, and chicken cooked in paprika/cayenne pepper marinade added on top. it's unbelievably good.
Love this!❤
Can't wait to make this version of it.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it!
He is so cute, he is talking more now yehey!
Thanks and I’ll gonna try to make this!
Lovely! I would add a teaspoon of wild garlic and pine-nuts pesto to broccoli towards the end of cooking, as it would give it an extra umph! My children love it.
Thanks for sharing your additions and for liking the video!
Looks delicious. My mum always did something very similar but with anchovies added at same time as garlic.
I love anchovies in this dish!
Such an underrated simple but delicious pasta dish- hard to beat it for a busy weeknight meal!
100% agree!
And , once again Chef , your professional taste tester lends his expert opinion ! Another recipe to spring on my wife - she really liked the the chicken piccatta pasta . Thanks Bro .
Great to hear man. Hope you enjoy this one too.
Love this...I make it all the time. Your kids are adorable.
Thanks very much man!
Love this
Love the critic. 💗
I agree with your son. I like my broccoli in larger pieces. My Mom used to braise the broccoli in with the pasta during the last five minutes or so.
Really love your videos. Keep it up!
Thanks so much!
I like it..very simple and fast..
Wow I love it thanks for sharing it looks yummy
i had to give it a like for the honest review at the end 😁👍
Another one of my favs! I don’t make it as often as I used to because my older son doesn’t like broccoli. Your son reminds me of my younger guy when he was his age. Loves Italian food.....and the passion for food and cooking. Thanks for sharing, brother!
Thanks man! My son loves everything, but pasta is probably his number one.
@@SipandFeast Last night I made Ciambotta (Southern Italy) or Giambotta (in many other regions). I made it with hot Italian sausages. It came out great, except I forgot the eggplant. 🤪 Big mistake. Oh well, I’ll get it next time.
Nice! I need to make a video for that one.
@@SipandFeast I’ll be watching!
This guy never misses!!!! Never!! 👍
Thank you man! Always appreciate it!
What a great way to eat more veggies. Yum!
You lost me when your son came out to taste test!! I completely forgot about the recipe, he is so cute and honest. I will however make this because it looks delicious and simple ingredients usually make the best meals. Thanks!!!!
Pecorino is the key to this dish! Such a simple, but delicious dish.
UGH!! As a mom of an only child mancub..you're son is adorable!!! Love that he downgraded his 9 to an 8 with good cause!! And gees...I'm learning italian cooking from you which has always been a dream!!! Thank you so much!
Thank you! So happy you're enjoying the recipes!
Thanks for another great dish .
Thanks Richard! Always appreciate you watching and commenting!
Excellent, one of my dishes.
You can also throw a little spoon of water in the garlic and oil, and that will stop the garlic from burning, because as long as there is water in the oil it won't go above a certain temp -- maybe 212 degrees (depending on your elevation, of course)? And this is so much more complicated for me, because I have celiac disease, and the rest of my family does not. So I have to make two types of pasta. I cook the broccoli, then my pasta -- which takes quite a while, like 8 - 12 minutes, depending on the pasta -- then their pasta. But I have to use two skillets of broccoli, one for them and one for me. It's amazing how much more complicated it is to need to make two separate pastas. I actually made this dish up all on my own back in the early 1980s. I'm sure the Italians were doing it, but I didn't know that. I lived in NYC, and worked at nights, and came home in the wee hours. I would stop at the corner store and get broccoli, garlic, and pasta! Sometimes I did mushrooms instead. Couldn't go to the supermarket at that hour, and had one of those college-sized fridges that fit under the counter, so couldn't keep much food on hand at all. One thing I do differently is I use much, much, much more garlic! And it is delicious.
Thank you. I made chicken wings w garlic recently and they were good but the garlic was kind of burnt I'll use abit of water next time
I'm making this dish tomorrow! I got everything at home! YUM!
I hope you enjoy it!
I reckon broccoli is a super, superfood. So I'm really excited to try this one. Thanks so much Jim and James :D
Our pleasure!
Excellent recipe, loved your kid too! Very honest. Your recipe looked tasty.
Love pasta and broccoli! Haven't made it in a while but I will now!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks AGAIN for nice EZ recipe.Grazi
My mom made this all the time when I was a kid except she uses elbows. Soooo good.
Just made this for lunch and it was easy and delicious 😋
Great to hear!
got yourself a top assistant , lovely pasta
That's the way my Italian mom used to make it.
It's a great dish non-Italian need to learn about.
This channel has inspired me to attempt some of these recipes🙂
Hope you enjoy them!
Love this recipe 😘
Thanks very much!
Hi Sip and Feast. I'm a subscriber, and love your channel. You have taught me a lot about cooking tips and technique, even though I've been a motivated home cook for decades. (Restaurant quality without restaurant prices.) I have to say this broccoli pasta was my first let-down. I really *wanted* to like it, but in the end my wife and I agreed it just was a little bland and needed something for "oomph." Maybe we'll play around with trying other ingredients to add. In the meantime, give me a few clams or blistered cherry tomatoes any day. Ciao!
I just love your kiddo!!!!
Yum,and your Son is so cute and honest with his opinion!
Tried and must say a humble and wonderful recipe… best part was the ending with u n son..🤩
Wonderful recipe. Made it today. 10 out of 10
Great to hear!
Love it ❤👍
Definitely making this dish.
Hope you enjoy it!
I love your videos man!
Thank you very much!
I like using the floret crumbs, it makes a little thicker sauce.
recently stumbled across your channel. actually yesterday, sweet son u have and the relationship seems kinda great. loved it and the actual honest feedback is cool as well. :) subbed!
He's a pretty solid food critic for his age. Tomorrow's video he does even better lol. Thanks for the sub and welcome to the channel.
I just love pasta broccoli 👍🏻❤️
