- A video made for the Los Alamitos City Council meeting of December 10, 2018, where a presentation of a Hometown Celebrity was made to Nikki Monninger, who grew up in the Greenbrook neighborhood, attended St. Hedwig's School, and Los Alamitos High School, and went on to, be nominated for a Grammy as the bass player for the band Silversun Pickups.

This is so cool. Ive never seen any of this footage before. I actually met Nikki a few weeks ago here in Nashville after their show @ Brooklyn Bowl and she is one of the absolute nicest people I've met!! Truly sweet person!
I love how you'd never guess she plays bass in a rock band! Has that secretary or bank teller vibe.
The way I remember it that is actually pretty much the standard look for a bassist in one of the good 90's bands?! But that's also why we fucking miss the 90's so bad. She's a cool bassist, and a nice lady ;)
Ikr! Chick is so suburban mom character.... then 9pm lights go dim and the deep roar of the bass echoes out to the loud pumped up audience and this chick Nikki is swinging that bass and headbanging for an hour and a half! Freaking love it!
Hard to wrestle if the audio editing or the visuals make this so endearing.

i liked her before the interview.. i now love her! lol she's so simple and humble, i get a good vibe from her. When she says she is less comfortable in smaller shows, because she is worried about how every is feeling. It is indeed a more personal experience and it shows her attention towards her fan! I can only have admiration!

SSPU, my favorite band. Such a unique sound, Nikki is super talented. Seen them live over 15 times, not one bad show. Nikki is such a down to earth person who kills at bass

The only time SSPU has come to Mexico was back when Nikki was pregnant and she didn't come, I remember that night like it was yesterday and to see that her children are so big now makes me feel so weird about the passage of time.

I met her and her band mates in early February this year. Very genuine and relaxed
She's a wonderful person because she grew up in a wholesome wonderful place with people that are of her own kind.

I've been playing bass on and off as a hobby for 30+ years and if I could be in a band it would be Silversun pickups or Rush.
For those of you outside of SoCal…each high school breaks a band or bands.
