I don't really comment on youtube videos but I feel obligated to say that your way of filming/documenting feels fresh to watch, usually these hiking/camping video format are always quiet and I guess more to the cinematography side since you know, the inspired by Kraig Adams phenomena (not saying it's bad, perhaps a bit redundant) hence why seeing your way to engage more with the audience while keeping it entertaining is really a breath of fresh air and as for me I can learn a thing or two on how to "survive". With that I really hope to see you grow as a channel, for a channel this small the quality is quite high and I feel needs more traction. I hope by reading this gives more hope for you to continue filming, I really do enjoy the content and I'm sure the people following are as well. Have a nice day. +1 for storytelling as well
Hey my friend! that was a very lovely and positive message! Comments like yours are what drive me so I really really appreciate you taking the time to write it! Glad you've been enjoying and learning from the content! Have a wonderful day!
The content you share is very good thank you. I also discovered a very useful app for friends like me who are just starting bushcraft. Maybe you'd like to take a look. I'll leave it down for you. The app name is( Offline Survive Guide App | Survival Techniqs(PRO))
Is it still considered a solo adventure if you make a friend along the way? Hope you guys enjoyed Willy's company as much as I did. and if you did, leave a like and consider subscribing!
I love how you respectfully chopped off branches from trees. Once i come to Canada, i dream on becoming like you too. Thanks for being an inspiration man.
Duude! This was absolutely amazing. The trip itself would be enough, but the layers of comedy, coventional and visual, was just icing on the cake. It felt fresh, snappy and exciting, and kept me engaged througout. Great job!
People complaining about you cutting trees/breaches... Every single one of those should drastically cut down on their consumption and waste, because every single one on those do more harm the you. By the time you cut down small branch, others waste tons. My opinion.
Beautifully done. Loved "Wilson"! I admire people who are so comfortable in the outdoors that they can make a winter shelter like this and actually spend the night!
This is the second video I've watched from this guy. As a city girl I have learned more in 10 minutes how to survive in the forest if I need too. Thanks
Xander, this might be my fav winter video you've posted. So organic and humbling. I greatly appreciate the many comments you've made about protecting nature in your videos, even during a survival situation. I have 0 experience and have only camped a few times in my life, but watching your vids is giving me confidence to do my first this coming Winter. I may have to pick your brain about where to go closer to the season. :)
"Yeah what an awesome day. It really was quite enjoyable to be busy. There was never a moment that I wasn't doing something. Tough day! Fun day! Tough. Oh my God and some chocolate! I am just so spoiled! Whatever did I do to deserve all this luxury!" That was when I hit the like button.
Thank you so much Xander for your videos. I thank youtube everyday for recommending me your channel. Your videos have helped me so much. I’d be amazed to know that you are NOT a successful professional photographer or something. The filming, post production, ambient sound without the background noise, its just amazing! Also, I’m new to Canada and I recently discovered hiking. Your videos inspire me to go out and explore more and your amazing solo camping tips are like noteworthy, and this is coming from a college student! Again, I want to thank you so much for being an amazing guy and filling our lives with joy, which nowadays people desperately need haha. PS: Tip for grilling kebabs or skewered food- just place it directly above the fire with a little longer supports. It’ll cook much faster and better!
I enjoy not only your sense of humor and filming style, but also that you actually sprinkle in some knowledge and learning. Also I love watching the food.
Very funny survival video! The first thing that ran through my mind is you have to have antifreeze running through you veins! I would have froze ! Awesome survival tips combined with the humor ! Well done! You definitely know how to survive in the snow! Thanks for sharing your expertise! Rick From Virginia
One of my favorite camp meals is to cut open a bell pepper, stuff in some ground beef and fill it full of onions and cheese and whatever else (sometimes pepperoni). Wrap in foil and then put the whole thing in the fire. Delicious
1 or 2 lower branches? You could have taken everything up to chest height for a tree with a radius of 3 inches or more. I worked at a nursery and have a master gardeners license. Look at how tiny some trees are at a nursery, and look how they are pruned. When they are pruned, they get "stressed" which triggers more rapid growth.
Mr. Hanks, no Fed Ex box? That was one memorable video. I hope your wife didn't marry the dentist while you were out! Great video man. Many props to you.
Thank God you didn't forget your ferro rod Xander! 😱😁. Thanks as always for making me smile. Your uploads are a blessing and your new friend Wil, with the help of Holy Spirit, reminded me of 1 Peter 2 4-5 ☺️. May God bless and keep you. Amen
What a wonderful post! When I saw you had no tarp, sleeping bag, etc., I thought, “bet Xander has more than a few tricks up his sleeve”. And indeed you did 🙂🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I hope I don’t seem dumb for saying this, but…I found myself trying to figure out if you REALLY had forgotten those things, or just wanted to make a video to show what practical approach to use in that situation. 🤔 I’m not sure I even want to know… 😬 Great vídeo as usual. Keep it up!
Binge watching your videos. I always compare bushcraft vlogging to talking to “Wilson”. Hilarious that you just owned it. Love the idea and execution. Appreciate the effort and skill.
I’m also insanely glad there is another adult out there who enjoys Dino egg oatmeal. That brown sugar flavor can never be duplicated in any other oatmeal.
Willy is an amazing site manager. Just look at all the work he got his "crew" to accomplish! :D Great comedy to go along with the survival skills demonstration. Thanks Xander.
The more I watch your stuff, the more I think we might share a common ancestor... Among other things, I was planning this same parody for this summer haha. Great stuff and love the notes on conservation when you harvested the boughs. The fact that you include that with your fast-paced style says a lot 👍👍
Ehh wouldn't that be interesting :P well, great minds think alike so I'm not surprised :D Thanks man glad you enjoyed it, I notice you talk a bunch about conservation in your vids and I learn from the best sooo...

Wilson !!!!! There you are my friend. 😎👍 Amazing how u did this survival event. So this is evidence that u don't need a $$$$ sleeping bag nor tent to go hiking and enjoy the great outdoors. Life begins at the end of your comfortzone.
Lol 😄 thanks it was a really fun one. I know you're joking about the sleeping bag but it definitely was a terrible sleep but an experience I'll never forget :p

Hey Xander, I'm enjoying your videos. Your sense of humor and upbeat personality makes for fun viewing! I especially appreciate the "cut to the chase" video filming. It's like watching grass grow! My eyes slowly close and the next thing know is the video is finally over and the only pleasure I've experienced is a good nap!
