Mark Levinson with his Daniel Hertz M1 Speaker with Maria 800 -- the 200K system

  • This was truly one of my highlights of 2024, and it hasn't even really started. M1 is an ultra high-end system that sets standards. My open baffles system also has its advantages, but here I also have this unbridled power with a completely stress-free sound. You can't get enough and want to listen longer and louder. The incredible control by Maria 800, the details are reproduced here in a very linear and without show effect, musically correct and profound. Material sounds are easy to distinguish, the drivers follow the decaying tones with ease - it's like a live concert! Thank you for this experience, Mark. MikeC HEADquarter Audio 2024

    Thanks for this interview. Some humbling truth here. The fact that you will license it is fantastic news. It is my hope that we can access this correct waveform in a wider variety of products. I can think of some very exciting applications. I am not in the league of people who can purchase this wonderful system. It's a blessing that some folks can. So if we license this then more music lovers can get the health benefits of this smooth waveform for the vast universe of digital music that's so easily accessible today.

    Mark hits on a VERY good point with regard to the pleasure of SEEING musicians play - one of the great pleasures of attending a live musical event. It probably goes without saying that attendees of a live event would be quite frustrated if curtains were drawn across the stage while musicians played on the other side of them :-)
    That might explain why "dedicated listening" (ie sitting in the sweet spot just listening - and not seeing musicians play) is not all that wide spread or hugely popular. One of my very favourite ways of devouring music IS as Mark does, through RUclips. FABULOUS ! As one can sonically (and most often visually) travel an endless river of discovery of new talent and tunes.
    If you are lucky enough as I am to have a nice DAC and sound system to overcome the somewhat less than ideal res of RUclips, then you're in luck for a genuine adventure down the river of sight and sound! Happy listening . . . and seeing :-)

      Yeah, LOL, think about all of the actual recording/mixing/mastering engineers that have worked every day for 40+ years with 95% digital music! They must ALL have kidney, liver, and stress issues and should all be dead by now from digital music. :p
      And don't you think it is strange that NONE of these engineers have EVER stated that there is any "problem" or "missing information" in their music due to how digital audio is sampled??? They must all be pretty dumb, eh? LOL
      ML doesn't even have a fundamental understanding of the Shannon-Nyquist theorem (which has never been challenged or disproved).
      I'd personally like to know what anyone from the AES thinks about this Cwave "technology".

      Yes, apparently basic bare speaker wire and power bars/strips are fine and will produce amazing results (Well...we've known this all along, haven't we).
      HOWEVER, according to Mark you MUST have this proprietary and exclusive Cwave "technology" in order to "fix" the supposed "missing information" in digital audio, and ALSO in order to be Healthy and not die from liver and kidney problems, LOL.
      But somehow, all of the actual recording, mixing, and mastering engineers that actually record and produce this music we are listening to achieve quite amazing results WITHOUT Cwave, but they will soon be dying from health issues as they work every day/all day with digital audio and music. /s Haha. It's sad that in a few years we will not have any new music to listen to because all of the recording engineers will be dead from working with "unhealthy" digital music, LOL. 😛
      Of course this system sounds great...HOWEVER, that is because Mark HIRED actual professional engineers that really know what they are doing to design the electronics and speakers, and NOT because of this Cwave nonsense. FYI, Mark has absolutely ZERO engineering credentials and it's clear from this and other interviews that he has a fundamental MISUNDERSTANDING of Digital Audio SAMPLING and the Shannon-Nyquist theorem, which has yet to be challenged or disputed.
      @mikeeygaulthier
      Yes, ideally you would at least use "tinned" OFC speaker wire in order to minimize corrosion/oxidation over time.

      What he might mean is that DSD is sampled many millions of times per second.If a helicopter with unlimited fuel traveled from L.A. to Paris, the total number of times the copter blades would make a rotation during the entire trip, is far less than the amount of times DSD is capable of sampling per second. I'd like to hear C wave though. It's good but expensive would be my guess.

    if you put giant speaker in a small room all hear you is the room and the modes. it is 2024 we know enough about sound waves today. People who spend on dacs, cables, etc they are part of expensive religious cult.
