- "Weird Al" Yankovic chats with Kevin Nealon as they hike through a Los Angeles canyon. Weird Al muses about how he got the name 'Weird,' his accordions, miniature golf, identity theft, his upcoming 'Strings Attached Tour,' traveling, swearing cowboys, his hair, Dr. Demento giving him his first break, meeting Michael Jackson, doing impressions, getting physicals, stealing a rake, reading labels, remembering passwords, proper mid-evil battle etiquette, getting recognized, his Hawaiian shirts, excitedly sleeping plus more....
"Do you get recognized a lot?"
"Ummm...Only when I leave the house."
"Oh, your wife doesn't recognize you?"
This is gold on a number of levels.
Weird Al Yankovich for rock n roll hall of fame!
Tacky .. ruclips.net/video/zq7Eki5EZ8o/видео.html
*Yankovic
Dude. Totally.
His name is spelled correctly TWICE right above this....
Yes yes yes rock n roll hall fame !
“When should you stop eating a cow?”
Al: “When you’re full.”
Wisdom.
"Are you touring right now?"
"No, I'm talking with you right now."
I thought we were hiking
“I like my coffee lawsuit hot.” 😂
Do you meditate? I zone out, does that count? Good 'ol Al!!
Atoms Apple absolutely!
Weird Al; One of the few humans on the planet that is impossible to dislike !
Eddie Trunk doesn't understand the appeal of his music.
ELIJλH Like his music or him as a person though?
@@theelijahbunch
Your brother is an ass!... I bet he smells like one?
I like him as a person, but not "his" songs. I suppose i may need to give it a try again some day. I hated "eat it".
He got my respect for honoring Prince after his death to not betray him to record the song Prince refused.... Meanwhile Princes family betrayed him big time with commercials etc.
That says a lot about a person.
Probably join the crips if he wanted....
I once worked with the quietest, most introvert person at a restaurant. She never said a word. One day the kitchen played Weird Al, she skated into the kitchen and went ballistic. She loved it! Weird Al brings people together 😁
Weird Al for Super Bowl halftime show!! Now more than ever...
nope :(
100% what the world needs in lieu of what is considered relevant currently!
Totally agree. Unfortunately the Super Bowl halftime is geared towards 12 year olds
Hahah, you watched him on Hot Ones too. Yes! W.A.Y. for the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2020!
That really would save the show , hell I might even catch some of the game just so I wouldn't miss the halftime show 👌👍👏
Weird Al still looks great!!! Can't believe he's kept the weight off since "Eat It"....
Rumor has it that when he watched himself perform in the "Fat" video, he was so repulsed by it that he said he promised himself he'd never, ever get fat.
He's also a vegetarian.
Sad fact- he gains the weight back during every concert, but he runs around so much, it’s all gone by the end! Reality tho, I have never seen so many costume changes as he does during a show- flat out amazing!
Yo, Ding-Dong! Ding-Dong, Yo!
Aw.. now I'm disappointed nobody took that bait.
There are only a handful of celebrities that are beloved. Weird Al is one.
"it's some coffee but its mostly laxatives" this guy kills me..
“Are you touring right now?”
“No, I’m talking with you right now”
LOLOL Master level
Weird Al has had the same band and manager for over 40 years. _THAT_ in itself tells you so much. He is also Mensa-level intelligent (unlike me!) And he has been able to remain at least somewhat relevant in all that time, I guess mainly because he parodies music as *IT* changes through the years and also because he tours SO MUCH. And also because he is a genuinely nice guy to his bandmates and to his fans.
I could tell how smart he is watching this interview but I didn’t know he was Mensa, or any of the rest you said, thanks.
Who did what now?
I absolutely LOVE the questions Kevin asks, they are often silly but asked seriously and its such a unique interview style and cuz its questions they have never been asked likely or often even thought of you get a really organic response. No one has refused to answer or go down the "path" he is on. Its so fricken' cool! Kevin would be amazing as a late night talk show, he brings the out the most interesting parts of ppls personality and experiences. This is the best show on RUclips so lets share it !!
And it beats the cliche crap questions hosts usually ask them. Who is your inspiration? How did you feel when you won an oscar? What was it like working with the director?
Zzzzzzzz
Kevin's questions are more human and numerous. As if they are old friends with no cameras on, joking with each other.
Same here! Really imaginative and fun questions/interviews. Many of the questions are intentional setups for punchlines, but Nealon is of course crazy quick on-the-fly, too. In this way he gets to play both the "set up" or "straight" man and the "comic" at the same time, while also allowing his quest the chance to play both roles too due to the interview format. It really shows when he has a guest that's as quick-minded and witty as he is, such as Weird Al. Their riffing was fantastic! I would love to see a collaborative production!
I’m afraid the vibe would be off in a studio, this format works really well.
I love the questions, but almost equally, I hate the non-answers we get. I'm positive they actually answer the question, it just gets cut. I'd love to know most of those answers, and we only got a couple actually answered. Was the same for the Conan show.
Someone MUST write all these questions down and publish them. They are SO good.
I haven't been this excited for a guest. Weird Al is a goddamn national treasure. Seen them in concert last year and it was amazing. They waited around and sat on their tour bus steps to meet every person that wanted to get their autograph and say hello. I mean, I've never come across that before.
Those two have a lot of comedic chemistry! Such amazing oddball-deadpan humor.
Weird Al!?!?! How cool! Best hike ever. I mean since the last one
billiondollardan "Since the last one." Well said...
I have always loved "Weird Al" Yankovic. He seems like such a good guy.
Weird Al's been the first music I actually enjoyed in my life, got his first Album for my 8th birthday (vinyl record!) and always laugh when I hear his music to this day. Thanks for taking us along Kevin!
My first cd given to me is Alapalooza and my second cd is Weird Al in 3D. My favorite artist of all time.
@@fuzer909 Another one rides the Bus!
Same
@@tvvaindriver The last cd I bought in a store was Mandatory Fun. Picked up Weird Al in 3D on vinyl this summer.
?A great question for WAY: What do you know and think about *Article 13*
I have been obsessed with this man since I was 12 years old and every single time I see or hear him I cannot help my smile!!!
Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy...Here it comes!!! Hahaha. So Funny! Thanks Kevin
Weird Al was one of the best concerts I have ever seen in my life, family had a great time.
I saw him in 1985 and it was THE best concert I ever saw.
Me too!! I've seen him 3 times and going twice this year!!
I've seen lots of concerts, since the 1960's, and for years when people asked, I would say the best concert I ever saw was Crosby, Stills and Nash. I saw them again, and then those were the first and second best.
Now, I've seen Weird Al twice, and those two concerts unseat the CSN(&Y, second time) concerts, although those were nearly flawless.
Weird Al, I say. And I saw him in Albuquerque when they did an extra eight-song encore, and did "Albuquerque" at the end of several songs (some very short, some just humorous false starts, to add to the tension and build-up).
First concert my kids got to see and they loved him. Ex-wife even begrudgingly liked him a lot. I got to see him again once again on my own, and to this day the greatest high-energy performer and only person that had more costume changes than Diana Ross.
@@SandraDodd In the 80's Crosby Stills and Nash did a show at Mud Island in Memphis, worst concert I've ever seen. They were arguing and mad at each other and at one point they were playing different songs out of stubbornness. The whole audience was going, is this real life? Part of the problem may have been that they followed Chicago, and I have never seen a place rocked like Chicago did that night. So best and worst shows, back to back in the same night.
I feel like Kevin and Weird Al are kindred spirits, both have lightning quick minds that go to weird, hilarious places
These two guys are so funny together. Kevin doesn't miss a beat 😊
Weird Al's funny and a genius, but I really like the two serious lessons coming out of his career:
1. If you at all can, do what you love for your work - it'll make for a happy life (he learned that from his dad, he says)
2. Make a point of being nice to everyone, and treat others well consistently. People like your bandmates and manager will still be with you after 40 years.
I love weird Al , thanks Kevin for this opportunity, you're the best !
Why did I not know that Hiking with Kevin was a thing. This was a brilliant interview
My favorite interview. Weird Al is genuine, would love to be seated next to him in coach.
I actually was this summer on a plane ride back from Iceland. He was with his family. Same hat.
15:53
“do you get recognized allot?"
"nah, only when i leave the house."
" your wife doesnt recognize you?"
#brilliant
Kevin: "What's your favorite sleeping position?"
Weird al: "fetal!"
Lmao I feel that.
The silliest, least informative, but maybe the funnest interview yet. Amiable dorks are a special breed. Thanx, Kevin.
This is one of Kevin's best interviews. Kevin and Weird Al have great banter and should be doing a podcast together.
Weird Al has been around for decades and will continue on forever.
These 2 were great together. Lol sooooooooo does this make Kevin weird?
Weird Al is a national treasure.
Highly intelligent guy. And so nice as a person.
This one is the best one to me but I really like Weird Al. I think more than that though is how you both worked well together for the humor. It was hilarious and the sleeping excitedly joke was hilarious.
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Here it comes!!!!
I love how Kevin can go from the profound to the ridiculous and back to the profound again in the space of a single sentence.
Weird Al seems like he’d be pretty cool to hang with and a lot of fun talking to.
Please do a hike with Cyndi Lauper. She looks like she hasn't aged at all.
I saw weird al yankovich at the fair 15 years ago and it was an amazing show. He changed costumes for almost every song almost instantly between tracks. Amazing talent and the show drew such an awesome crowd
I found a 45 of Gotta Boogie at a thrift store a few months ago and now my life is complete
Gotta boogie on my finger and I can't shake it off
Baby why’s your hand behind your back ?
This is funniest hike interview I've seen so far! Great LOL kind of stuff!
Some artists feel they "made it" if Al parodies their song. So talented! AND what a nice person!!
This might be my favorite interview. You two had great back and forth. 🤣😁
Norm MacDonald has to be convinced to do this thing
100%
Norm MacDonald would only do this if he got to hike from his apartment to the cheese sandwich shop.
Kevin, weird al has been a hero of mine for 40 years plus. Thank you for bringing us his humor and mixing it with yours ! (It was awesome!)
Kevin has met his funniness match. Finally.
You Sir have earned my like before I even start the video trust.....don't betray this faith......
Kenneth Tolbert I like to like his videos right off the bat. Great hikes... Much Love...
Kevin: did you ever have short hair? Weird Al: yes when I was a baby. Hilarious.
When Al limboed under the branch, I laughed, because that's me, too! Seriously, though, he's a gem, a national treasure. Did you see his #coronaisolation video, playing the Classical Gas on the accordion on his deck? So fun.
@4:56 funny - when I first started watching I thought "Sweet, Al channeling his 'Amish Paradise' days. LOL
Loved this interview hike. Started listening to Al in the 80's. Brings back memories.

Good to know that Weird Al is as weird (and nice) as you'd expect! Nice jaunt!
The untold profundity of asking someone how they would steal a rake. This is why we love Kevin and why this series is brilliant. Love Weird Al, one of the true genuine genius nerds that conquered the normies but stayed true to his roots. Thanks for another one! 🔥💗✨
He is truly a national treasure. And Weird Al is pretty good too. :)
You clearly enjoyed this hike. You two are hilarious!
If only I was half as quick witted as these two.
OMG !!! I have been a Weird Al fan ever since i heard him on DR. Demento !!! As a matter of fact IN 3D had just came out. I was in 3rd grade and he is still in my top 3 !!!
Thank you for making these interviews Kevin Nealon
You might just be one of Hollywoods sweetest human beings.
I know the rest of us in the rest of the world are great full to know you as our RUclips friend and hiker.
If I was ever hiking and came across Kevin Nealon and weird Al Yankovic I would lose my mind!
Weird Al is a real one. Easy to tell when fame doesn't go to someone's head
Loved Dr. Demento! I grew up in S. CA in the 60's, listened to him often!
I LOVE WEIRD AL EVEN MORE NOW AFTER WATCHING THIS
The wit these two exhibit is a joy to watch. Thank goodness for weird people.
Fun interview!... Both such funny ,and seemingly very nice guys .
That little bit about “
what are you reading,” made me laugh out loud. Classic!!!
Holy shit this is one of your best hikes! So funny.
The back and forth banter is perfection.😂
This show always makes me happy, but this episode in particular fills me with inexpressible joy. Thank the Gods for WEIRD AL!
I just came across this channel for the first time and I'm less than a minute in and it's already put a genuine smile on my face. I'm about to binge your channel. Thanks Kevin!
Man, these are great.
I have gained so much respect for Kevin and his sense of humor.
I was so excited to see you interview Weird Al!
Wow, Kevin Nealon lives! You are one of my all time favorite comedians!! I first saw you at Cobbs Comedy Club in San Francisco in the early 90's and you did the charcoal bit on my friend! He was drunk and being obnoxious and you invited him onstage. The audience never laughed so hard! We took him home and he still had no idea until he looked in the mirror the next morning! I hope you read this, because I just want to say thank you for being one of the funniest comedians ever and for making such a fond memory!
Weird al is the man...
Really good hike, I've watched all of them & this has an awesome energy. You guys feed off each other for jokes like old friends, fun to watch! Thanks for thinking to do interviews like this Kevin, so much better than any latenight talkshow.
5:10 too me "Weird Al" always looks Amish kind of like his hit song Amish Paradise... What a frickin' career really who woulda though it would work when he started almost 40 years ago he made his own path into uncharted territory
Just delightful, Kevin. One of the best yet. Great job.
Seeing Weird Al in concert twice this July!! 😄
What a treat. 2 of the funniest people I know just took me hiking and made me laugh so hard that milk came out of my nose. And I wasn't even drinking milk. But I'm back now, and as soon as I catch my breath, I'm going to watch this video. I hope it's not stupid. Cheers mates.
Weird Al. Really just more normal than the rest of us.
Damm that first minute was jam packed with Kevin nealon-ness!! 😂😂
😂😂😂
At first I thought they were holding hands until I realized that's just Kevin holding the selfie stick.
One of your better hikes. You and Al play off each other well.
Love the quick wit...both light on your feet🙃...a joy to watch!!
Had to park my car for just five minutes
I had to go inside to use the phone
When I came back again my car was gone
Well, I didn't know it was a loading zone
What a bummer, I was so brought down
I had to chase that tow truck all over town, yellin'
"Stop draggin' my
Stop draggin' my
Stop draggin' my car around"
Took my baby to the local disco, I was jumpin' like a maniac
But then the owner came and pulled me off the floor
Then he, he took me to his little office in the back
He said, "I really like your snaggletooth necklace
Your pants are groovy, and your hair's okay
But, man, that car of yours is so uncool
Like wow, I'm sorry, but we towed it away!"
Stop draggin' my
Stop draggin' my
Stop draggin' my car around
Now I'm in home, I'm watchin' Gilligan's Island
Guess it's time to trade my old car in
For twenty dollars and my '64 Plymouth
Maybe I could get a second-hand Schwinn
Look out the window, there's tow truck in the driveway
I grabbed the driver and I asked him why
He said, "I'm sorry kid, you're late with the payments
It's time to kiss your little car goodbye"
Stop draggin' my
Stop draggin' my
Stop draggin' my car around
Stop draggin' my car around
Listen, the check's in the mail, no, really
Stop draggin' my car around
Oh man, I just got the hub caps painted
Stop draggin' my car around
Hey! Hey! I left a sandwich in the backseat
Stop draggin' my car around
Oh
What a fungi to be around. Al legalized foolishness.
Most people would be willing to walk 500 miles with him, just to be the first to complete the task at foot of Kevin's long distance multiterrainious nomadic olympic grade walkabouts. Kevin is doing his level best to get lazy people out of the house because he cares. It's not even that he wants to be around them at all, he is only concerned about them as a kind of practitioner of movement disorders.
Al is the greatest
Kevin you remind me of MR. Wilson on home improvement...the man behind the fence with that hat is all we can see and some eyes lol....I think you are him
THIS IS MY FAVORITE EPISODE! HYSTERICAL!
Great episode! Thank you Al and thank you Kevin!
I listened to Dr. Demento on Saturday or Sunday nights on my clock radio when I was supposed to be sleeping. That's where I found Al.
Bret Archibald late seventies

ohhh mannnn ... (wipes eyes) laughed out loud a coupla times this time. "you could cement your head," hahahaaa. Yo, Kev, the addition of musical elements and the cut-ins of b-roll panned up or of landscape were nice touches this time, just enough. The drums that punctuate the punchline at 12:40, for example - nice. Thanks again, take it easy.
Best hike yet dude! Have him hike with you again! Weird Al always puts a smile on my face!
Childhood icon! Thanks my man.
One of the best interviews!! Keep up the good work Kevin! You and spade have always been my favorite
Really loved this one.. was a childhood hero
Kevin is so quick "Did you see the movie "10 feet away" ? "You mean "20 feet away" ? "No, that's the sequel". Millisecond fast. I love these videos
I still have the Weird Al Live Concert from 1999 on VHS still and you get two bonus music videos at the end of the tape; “All About the Pentium” and “The Saga Begins”. Still holds up too.
one of my favorite episodes here :-)
