going up is taxing but coming down is easy. the hike is worth it in the end the views are absolutely beautiful

We're currently vlogging around central America and we'll be heading back down south so this is definitely inspiring 🙌 I went to the rainbow mountains 6 years ago (gross!) and they were so incredible! I forgot how high it was and love how there's vendors haha! 😲 looks cold and I would definitely need that hand rub - I'm rubbish with altitude! what an awesome adventure though! We spent some time there earlier this year and absolutely loved it 🇸🇻🇨🇷🇵🇦🇬🇹We are excited to hear you will be heading to South America soon. We fell in love with it there and can't wait to explore more of South American countries as they open. Rainbow Mountain was such a surprise to us. The altitude was crazy and while we didn't get sick, it kicked our butts and we felt perpetually out of breath. But it is all worth it to see Peru. Beautiful and informative video! I am hoping to visit Peru next year. Do you know if it's possible to drive to Rainbow mountain (eg. renting a car), or it is necessary to book a tour?
Hi Nisha 👋 Thank you for the amazing comment and great question 👍 I don't see why you wouldn't be able to rent a car and drive. Towards the end there are quite a few gravel roads so you would just want to make sure you have the right vehicle to navigate that and that you are comfortable driving on such terrain. Since it is such an early day, it is nice that you can sleep a bit on the drive with the tour. Whatever you decide, we hope you have an amazing trip to Peru 🧳✈️🇵🇪

How much was this tour in total?
What month is it? It looks so cold. Is December supposed to be their summer? I worried my trip in early July, their winter time. How many layers I need to bring? Nervous...
It was August 31 when we filmed this video. It was chilly, in part because of the time of year, but mostly because of the high elevation at Rainbow Mountain. We dressed pretty warm for this hike, but you are working pretty hard during the hike which also keeps you warm. With that said, we also traveled in Lima during this time, which is significantly lower elevation, and it wasn't nearly as cold. So it really depends on where you are traveling during this time. Just don’t go in January . I went there a week ago and it was raining and very cloudy in the top of the mountain 😂

I just came back from Peru 😊 I was there one week ago ! I went to Rainbow Mountain and it was raining a little bit but mostly cloudy at the top . Was not good for photos 😂Machuppichu in the other hand was with good weather sunny all day ! ❤

Did you see any kids doing the hike?
Hi Martha 👋 We do not recall seeing any kids doing the hike, but that doesn't mean there weren't any. It has just been awhile since we took the hike. With that said, they do have horses that take you most of the way if you are worried about it being too much of a hike. And the altitude is very real, but it affects everybody so differently. I believe they recommend you acclimate in Cusco for a day or two before taking the hike. Hope this is helpful, but let us know if you have any other questions 😀
Yes I saw teenagers but I don’t recommend it for kids under that age it’s very hard to walk through it .

it is tough since we never know the level of care animals used for these purposes are given. Since we cannot verify it, we just opt to walk and get our steps in.
They should ban vendors like those in that mountain, soon there is going to be many more bringing garbage and chaos with them
That is an understandable concern, we hope they take care to keep it as beautiful as it was when we saw it 🇵🇪🏔️💛
