Lovely items, the catalogue numbers were 4054 for the Open and 4055 for the Brake. They really do go well as a rake with Pullman carriages and the Utility Van as someone else says, but you could use the SD Green Horsebox too and mix with the BR Maroon carriages too. I'm sure I've seen some lovely photos of the SR Green coaches running on the Great Central Railway route to Nottingham and Sheffield from London from that period.
The Southern coaches have non compensated bogies unlike the earlier maroon coaches. The non compensated bogies tend to run better than the earlier compensated type in my experience.Of course adding Pullman coaches to a rake with green coaches is something that was done in real life particularly with first class Pullman cars. The Dublo green utility van and horse box also goes well with the green coaches. Unfortunately Dublo never got to produce a green restaurant even though one was planned. (there is version of the proposed restaurant car produced by a chap called Dublo 2000 if you can track him down also they are not cheap!) As for Wrenn I understand that although they considered continuing the super detailed range of tinplate sided vehicles they eventually decided against further use of tinplate and never proceeded with any tinplate vehicles.
Thanks. That is really interesting information. The running is like night and day compared to other SD coaches. I'll check out Dublo 2000. The next restaurant car to purchase is the LMR one. Fairly expensive but it completes my collection.
@@thedublorailway3803 the SD restaurant cars are beautiful vehicles which do not go the way of other manufacturers of the time and use things like generic underframes. The SD restaurants actually represent the prototype with bespoke roofs, interior and under frame detail. One of the reasons I love Dublo!

Thanks, they are lovely. It's a great shade of green and they would have to be my favourite SD tinplate coaches.
