    Disagree with the matte finish comment. I love matte for working from home during the day which is what I use it for 80% of the time. Prevents glare especially on sunny days.

      Agreed. I absolutely love my 42" C2 but also working from home and spending on average 9-10 hours per day on it, bi matter how dark I keep the room, the glaossy finish reflection sucks. Have been missing my 49" G9 of late... Hoping for a fantastic sale on this bad boy for the holiday season. My neck will thank me too 😂

    I can shine my phone light at my screen, and I have to say that it's actually really well dealt with. That mat finish actually does an excellent job. I get no reflections at all from anything behind me, even direct lighting.

  • @paulbrooks4395

    Disagree on matte finish, especially at high curvatures. Off angle viewing would be even worse for a curved display with a glossy finish. Glossy finishes are meant for light controlled environments, not productivity and gaming of the average owner.

    • @patrickmitchell785
      @patrickmitchell785 9 месяцев назад +3

      Matte finish is superior. I find that all reviewers complain about it, and most of them sit in a dark cave. Gloss finish is useless if you have any light source in your room especially with a curved screen! Hopefully a reviewer someday doesnt just echo what others are saying and is able to form their own opinions on the matte, because ive yet to hear a convincing argument against it and the reasoning is always that its "hideous" without any actual talking points.

    They should release 21:9 version with 4k (5160x2160) and 240hz which is over 34 and 40+ inches.. This monitor is too much for current gpus to handle, nvidia is not ready at all, 120 hz instead of 240hz and even if it was unlocked 4090 cannot run such resolution even at half of refresh rate. It can only do 5160x2160, no more than that if 100fps+ is a goal but even with that if there is no DLSS or FG its a challenging goal but good thing dlss is almost in every AAA game. I remember times when first 3440x1440 monitors were released and you needed SLI gpu config to run that at decent fps

    Great review, i also recently picked this up coming from its predecessor, the G9 Neo (1440p) i would say its an upgrade in every regard. That jump to 4K, having been in 1440 p for the past 10 years the sharpness improvement was immediately noticeable with 4K content. You will absolutely need an arm with this as it will sit too close to you otherwise. G-Sync absolutely does work (4090), in fact it works better than the G-Sync on my previous monitor that was "G-Sync Certified" (for whatever reason it only worked correctly at 240 hz on that panel). I do have an issue where HDR Tone Mapping deactivates on its own (wven though it says Active in the OSD you must select Static and then Active again to get HDR to work correctly) im hoping this is a bug with the supplied firmware and not a hardware issue, do you have this problem? Also, 32:9 absolutely destroys 21:9 and 90% of games either support it natively or can easily be modded to support it. Go and play any 3rd person racing or action adventure game back to back in 21:9 and 32:9, 32:9 is much more immersive hands down. Hell any genre for that matter. For contrext my panel before stepping up to the OG G9 was a 21:9 Alienware. Youre just not used to it. 32:9 is way better.

      I never had ultrawide gaming monitor. Only office monitor 21:9, and I liked it. But I am not sure that 32:9 will be the best experience for me (I am playing both fps and action adventure), moreover, even the best gpu will struggle to give any meaningful fps at such enormous resolution. Do you know any gaming (144hz+) 21:9 with vertical 2160p?

    • @daniil3815
      @daniil3815 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Chasm9 it’s because of the port in gpu. 4090 doesn’t have it yet. 5090 will. But honestly no gpu can give you 240hz at such resolution, maybe in some not demanding fps games, but nobody playing fps games on 32:9 😂 you better wait for 5090 to have any meaningful framerate in AAA games.

    • @pyronic120120
      @pyronic120120 3 месяца назад

      I know this is old, but to shine some light for others, I think this has to do more with the fact that this uses the quantom dot lighting technology to be able to produce the high contrast it does. The monitor has 2,392 lighting zones. Keep in mind that this monitor has about 16.6 million pixels total. this means that each lighting zone is in charge of back lighting approximately 7 thousand pixels per lighting zone. I did the math and if my math is correct, each lighting zone is approximately 0.6 inches x 0.6 inches. This means that text any smaller than 0.6 inches is going to have significant bloom. Especially if it's black on white text. The diming zone(s) that that text falls within will need to be lit to display the text as white, while all other dimming zones without text can effectively be turned completely off displaying true black for the rest. I think the blooming effect is not so much a defect, and is simply consequential of how the technololgy works. I have the OG G9 so I can't comment there, but I also an 85" 4K samsung TV with the same quantom dot technology and I notice that depending on how high is the screens overall brighness, the higher the brigtness setting on the TV the more noticeable the blooming effect is on the text. And in a completely dark room, it is definitely noticeable. However for normal movie/tv viewing it's not noticeable at all since the transitions between bright and dark edges are much softer.

    Really don’t understand why people seem to think that 32:9 is a bad experience in games. If you’re looking at things on the edges of the display then I think you might have forgotten that you can use your mouse to turn your perspective. This isn’t a band-aid solution to a real problem, because it’s not even a problem. It’s just people playing games wrong. It’s saying there’s a problem where there isn’t one

Please any info would be extremely appreciated as I have only one more week before I can return the monitor. Thanks in advance

    I still don't understand why people complained about matte finish, you do not want glossy on a pc where you are a arms length away, even recording on a glossy finish you'll see yourself in the reflection. Tvs are fine since your 3 feet or more away depending on the size..

    I could've gotten this monitor for only $1,500 after credit during the pre-order period but skipped on it. I'm going to wait for an OLED version of this as I'm not a fan of mini-led due to the blooming. Once you go OLED it's really hard to go back to anything else. I do like the size though, just not the tech behind it. Also I was never a fan of curved display but I think I'm ready to get one though just for gaming as I feel like productively work will be strange on something this big while being curved as well. I'm currently using a 55" S95B in 21:9 mode at this time. It's 1600p so it isn't so bad when it comes to PPI but it's limited to 144Hz and I'm looking for more now with my 4090.

      Def recommend checking out the G9 OLED. It’s only a 49” 32:9 and it’s 1440p, but you’ll get really good frame rates with your 4090 at that resolution. 4k 32:9 sounds like it’ll be really intensive in some triple A titles, even for a 4090, but then again, I could be wrong. I’m running a 8560x1440 setup with my 4090 and I get upwards of 100 fps in most titles.

    Good review, Unfortunately, I ended up returning mine, there's been that flickering issue but mine occurs when I have my mail app open I notice some of the backlight on the left starting to blink a few times rapidly which tells me the screen was about to flick and then it turned off for a min and then back and the same cycle went on until I minimize the app, I even tried to switch between hdmi and DisplayPort cable, turned HDR, changed the resolution to 1440 and nothing. text in black bold doesn't look good like my 34-inch Alienware, so i decided to return it and upgrade my 34 inch Alienware to the 38 inch and will upgrade my 27 inch monitor to a 4k 27-32 inch for watching ani,e or other programs.
    I agree the price is high and personally not worth spending that much if your getting that 120hz due to the rtx limitation and those flickering issues when it comes to Samsung there are many reviews that states Samsung can take over a year even to come out with a firmware fix for many issues, it's just better to wait 2-5 years and buy it at a lower price, that's what i'm going to start doing

    Man was actually getting really curious about it, till you said matte finish. Damn do I hate matte displays. Was so pissed that the crappy laptops I had for work had a clearer looking display than the laptop I owned just because mine was matte and theirs was glossy. I'll never understand how people can say matte "looks just as good", to me it's pretty obvious how much better glossy is. It's clearer and the contrast is better.

      It's also a mirror and reflects everything around you. People don't want to stare at all the objects in their room when viewing content.

    • @Skylancer727
      @Skylancer727 10 месяцев назад

      @MattRuppert you can always angle your display or move your desk: you can't replace the screen for your screen. Phones have always had glossy displays and the reason is obvious, just tilt it or turn around to reduce glare. You chose where to put your TV or monitor, you have could have put it in a better spot. Like how my grandparents had the display on the same wall as the window. There's no glare if you place it right, and because you're room doesn't change nothing should change that other than your own actions.
      Plus if you really had to that matte coating is just a sticker you can buy and add yourself. Being built in and glued on from the factory makes it risky to remove.
      Plus matte displays don't really reduce reflections, they diffuse them. That means instead of affecting a small part of the screen, now the whole screen is affected. It's like how QD-OLED got lifted black in direct lighting, well so does every matte displays ever. The other alternative are those rainbow effects some displays have which are probably the most intrusive to me. Honestly I'd far prefer a true glossy display and to just place it better in the room than have a display that will always look flawed.

    I am enjoying mine so far. It was worth the wait. It was a huge upgrade from my 49" G9 however it has taken me 2 days to adjust all of my game settings. I was hoping it would be as easy as adjusting my resolution for each game, but this monitor is extremally hard to drive, even for my RTX 4090. I was seeing 250-400 fps on max graphics for most games with my 49" whereas I am seeing around 60-120fps on the 57". I'm sure HDMI 2.1 is partially to blame (and no I am not using cheap cables). Hopefully games will be better optimized in the future and Nvidia offers support for DP 2.1. The colors are great, the matt finish is not too aggressive, and the black levels are amazing. If it was a glossy finish, it would be hard to believe that it is not OLED! The only thing I have struggled with are apps such as Netflix, Hulu, ESPN, etc... The app itself along with the text looks great, but the videos themselves are blurry. RUclips works just fine though so i'm sure it has something to do with the lack of support from the media apps themselves although they were natively supported on previous 32:9 monitors. If anyone finds a solution, i'm not opposed to them. anyhow, I always enjoy your videos. #MatteFinishSucks

      "Hopefully games will be better optimized in the future" Game, You're blaming the games for this. Buddy, YOU'LL NEED AN RTX 6090 Ti to fully run this monitor at the resolution and Framerate. This has nothing to do with the games. That 4090 is not enough.

    • @caylrogers49
      @caylrogers49 10 месяцев назад

      @raynel8495 haha, I don't disagree. However, I am able to see 120fps on the last 3 Call Of Duty and a few other high gpu demanding games, yet a small simple game like Only Up, I had to lower the graphics quite a bit just to achieve 45-50fps. The graphics card nor the monitor are to blame for instances like that.

    • @jeroenvdw
      @jeroenvdw 10 месяцев назад

      Well you're seeing 60-120fps because that's the limit of this monitor on a 4090. It needs a next gen gpu with better HDMI or DP to get the full potential of 240hz. Or get the 6900XTX but yeah nobody buys that.
