Same problem for me. I reached out to support about a month ago on this and was told it was an issue with my set up, and that possibly a switch firmware update would fix this. I really hope Unifi replaces these broken devices.
Thank you for bringing this up and give more exposure. The support thread is too long with more and more people reporting and Ubiquiti is just not doing a good job. I only have two U7 Pros for my house and I watched your last video and noticed the instability issues that was happening. I went back to .59 and it has been good. Luckily, I bought these APs from Microcenter with 3-year extended in-store warranty. I can stick with the stable version for now and perhaps swap it with the two-chipset version once they hit the shelves.
Thank you for the video. Good to know that others are having issues also. I had purchased 2 U7 Pro Max APs and 1 U7 Outdoor. The U7 Pro Max APs gave me so many issues with IOT devices, exactly as the video calls out. After 2 weeks of troubleshooting with Ubiquiti, I returned the 2 U7 Pro Max APs for a refund. I kept the U7 Outdoor and bought 2 U6 Enterprise APs. All of my IOT issues disappeared, and everything has been running as expected for at least 3 months now. Super happy with the U7 Outdoor. I had a U6 Mesh outside previously, and I am getting much better coverage with the U7 Outdoor.
I have the U7 Pro with over 52 IoT devices and have no issues with any device dropping out. The speed of the U7 in 6GHz is awesome. I wonder if only certain serial numbers are affected.
Some people have found it depends on the traffic, number of devices then what really makes the devices fall of is when mdns and other broadcast traffic hits. I do use a lot of Tasmota device groups so this could explain why I see it more. Others have some Matter over WiFi devices that also causes broadcast traffic storms that seem to only cause issues on the U7 line.
Same here 3x pro Max but not any problems at all. But maybe this is because my focus lays in thread and al the appleTVs witch are the hubs are hard wired. This setup (for me) is insane stable

I guess we will wait for new models, downgrade Controller or just stick with U6 and advise them in 5 years its time to upgrade. This is confusing
I've been trying the new releases and while some have had a bit of promise, it still isn't there. I pulled my U7 Pro Max and boxed it up again and rolled my U7 Pro back to 7.0.59 for now. I'd stick with the U6 Pro and other QCA based ones. Solid choices.
Similar issues. Opened ticket on u7 pro max and they kept taking 2-3 days between responses. Asked me to do steps which I had messaged them I had done with screenshots of results again. Eventually I just let the ticket close as I fixed it myself. I have 3 APs and after introducing the 7 pro max frequency overlap and power became more of an issue. I did 2 weeks trial error (my home is less then 5 feet from neighbors) and dialed in radio transmit strength and optimized channels by hand and then all has been rock solid. Support at Unifi DOES NOT READ what you tried or any results you have come up with unless they asked first.
@@digiblurDIY yeah I think the tx retry’s are due to some distortion. I dropped power pretty low and since I have enough APs it solved my issue. I used Auto for everything with 2 U6’s and a AC-LR covering my house. Removed the AC-LR and replaced it with the U7 Pro Max and then all the problems unfolded

I upgraded from an AP-AC-LR to a U7-Pro. Ive been having all sorts of issues with wireless since implementing the U7-Pro. Issues with devices dropping or just not connecting. They are IoT devices that are on 2.4 Ghz. I also have issues with my phone switching between 6ghz and 2.4 and becoming unresponsive. I havent done much troubleshooting to figure out which is causing the problem, but if i had to guess, its 2.4 lol
Thank you for your educational video and making your followers aware of this issue with the U 7 pro and Max, Since them has there been any progress to improve the existing hardware or has the new hardware (access point) been released?
I plan on purchasing the U7 Pro Wall for a home we're building that will be completed in March '25. Have there been reports of similar issues with this device? I really like the device's aesthetics, but I could always use a U6 Pro model instead.
I have 3 U7 Pro Max's, over 40 devices across all bands (2.4, 5.0 and 6.0 Ghz) and have not had any issues at all. Also, I am using the hybrid WPA3+WPA2 instead of the of the full WPA3. It actually warns you that you might have problems with IOT devices.
I've gone through a few inexpensive network options before settling on a nice Ubiquiti setup. My last configuration before my Ubiquiti network (Dream Machine Pro Max, 24 port Pro Max Switch, a U7 Pro, and a U7 Pro Max) was the previous generation of Google wifi mesh. Before that I had the first gen Google wifi with giga-bit connected wired nodes. I had an insane number of problems with IoT devices under Google's wifi as well as prior systems. Ironically, the devices that have given me the most trouble have been Google IoT devices. Those problems have largely gone away since this recent upgrade to Ubiquiti network equipment. I'm actually more convinced that it's more of a problem caused by low quality IoT devices. They're mostly cheap trash and their sleep/wake states cause inconsistent behavior. Some are better than others, though
Genuinely curious because i have both a u6 pro and a u7pro and i cant fault either of them. What specifically is going wrong with them?, im UK based and plugging directly in to a POE+ unifi switch and im just not seeing any issues on 2.4 5 or 6 frequencies
The only issue I have with my U7 Pro is my Pixel 8 sticks to the 5ghz and says "no internet", I might need to enforce minimum RSSI to fix that though. I haven't had any of these issues with my IoT devices on 2.4 including my Wyze devices that have caused me the most issues with connectivity over the years. I do have 6GHz disabled right now though, and It's possible I'm lucky but that's usually not the case.
Not sure. I did install one at a location last weekend and it works fine but I don't think someone has filled it up with 2.4ghz clients enough to trigger it or test it.
Thanks for this vid. I thought it was just me. I recently switched from two U6 Lite to U7 Pro because the lites were nothing but trouble for me. I have a HA dash that conditionally shows unavailable devices and I can click on each of them to do a Unifi reconnect action. Was thinking of automating the stupid thing to auto reconnect things since it is so bad. All types of ESP devices/Shelly switches seem to drive me nuts. Was thinking about dusting off an old Google marshmellow router pair to use for 2.4ghz or maybe just dedicate the U6 Lites to 2.4 only (was hoping to sell them).
I guess I should also note that it helped to do things like change them to fixed channels 1/6/11 as usual, channel width 20, and low transmit power if you have multiple.
I’ve got a netgear R9000 router. It was one of the best, most expensive routers at time of purchase. Can I use one of these as an access point, or do I need to have the unifi router?
Did they use different chipsets in their APs, like maybe there was a chipset shortage so switched and added a different chipset in, due to supply chain issues Just guessing
Looking at the specs I would bet it is the same guts just a different form factor so my guess would be yes at this point. I would put that on hold until it is resolved.
once I swapped to U7 Pro, my IoT 2.4G network just started constant disconnects all the time for all the devices. after swapping back to the U6 Lite, the 25% retry rate dropped to 5-9% with maybe 1 device disconnecting every few days which is not unusual. there is absolutely an issue with the U7 line and even though firmware rollback is a great idea to get it working however is not acceptable. let's see what Unifi does.
I have been pretty happy with the U6 Pro. I did downgrade to official 6.677 from early release because retries went crazy. No issues on 6.6.77. Thinking about adding another AP. Might just get another U6 Pro or the enterprise. Not sure... just need a little more coverage. I almost bought the U7, but decided not to because I do not have any devices that would take advantage.
Yes. 7.0.77 failed on both. 7.0.76 failed on the U7P but made the U7PM usable. 7.0.78 released today but I haven't had the time to test it as when things go wrong the dominoes fall hard.
Yes. Been running that for years. This is also part of the fix Ubiquiti is trying in the latest firmware and going further and setting it to Wi-Fi 4 specs. It doesn't appear to be working though.
I’ve been having a hell of a time with my S31 and Shelly1 devices, looking at the UniFi app or webpage, it shows as working but in Home Assistant it greys out as unavailable. If l cycle the power it comes right back, or if I tell it to reconnect from UniFi system it reconnects fine also. If I try to connect via the tasmota page it doesn’t work either until I force a reconnect. I definitely see many reconnect issues with phones as well, but that’s not nearly as big of an issue. The system has 5 access points, and typically has around 100 total network connections, about 60 of which are WiFi. Also have a separate Zigbee network with around 50 devices. I wonder if I can have an automation detect when they are unavailable and force a reconnect with the UniFi integration. Two of the access points are U7-Pro, but the same issues have happened on the other models as well.
@@digiblurDIY yes same here, but not just on the U7 pros though, have a 6 enterprise, an AC-M-Pro, and an U6+ that all do it. When the clubs are busy it can be another couple hundred clients, but since it’s been screwing up, I’ve disabled the guess network hoping it helps. UniFi support wasn’t much help either, the usual stuff, they never sign there name so nobody is ever accountable when they ignore most of the questions. I raised total hell a year or so ago and managed to get a 20% off coupon code, then wasted it on a small order of course and made a much bigger order a couple weeks later lol. Still love their stuff overall, but blaming the $9 WiFi smart switches gets old considering they have worked for years and years with no issues at all, and now nothing but problems. Starting to move more things to Zigbee, don’t know what else to do.
IOT can be hit or miss for some 802.11be networks, mainly due to certain features that it will try to use with an IOT device, for example, I have a "smart" air purifier, and it will randomly drop when I use both WPA 2+3 along with Fast BSS Transition. This is also why you see some consumer APs such as the newer Orbi products offering an IOT network which is simply an additional virtual AP without those features offered, thus avoiding random device drops.
It is a mediatek based chipset and they've been known to not work well with smart home devices. The Qualcomm chipsets have been great up until the U7 line.
@ damn. I‘m going to upgrade my network to unifi in 2 weeks and have to order the hardware now… currently used orbi satellites. Not sure what to do now -.-
Super glad I found this video. I deployed 2 U7P's and everything was cool for a bit and then Home Assisant devices just started crapping the bed and I couldn't figure out why. Just ordered 2 U6E's to replace the 7's in hopes of solving this madness. Anyone here know if the U7P and the U6E use the same size mounting plate? Would be nice to just do a quick swap when they get here.
@@digiblurDIY Perfect! - With the wife already irritated at HA devices randomly not working, drilling new holes to fix it is not a conversation I want to have! 🤣🤣🤣
I have a U7 Pro and a U7 Pro Wall. I find that both devices experience intermittent high TX retries when 6GHz is enabled. Everything looks fine when I turn off WiFi on the 6GHz band. In that case, what’s the point of having these two WiFi 7 APs?
I had an issue with some older devices but solved it by creating an IoT network and SSID that only uses WPA2 and changing PMF from optional to disabled. All has been solid since. (Currently on 7.0.66, not sure what firmware I started with because several updates since deployed back in June24)
Is it possible the switch to 2 chips is to add the "realtime spectrum analysis" feature that the U7 pro max has already? I have 2 U7 pro's running about 50 IoT devices without issues so far (been about a month). Firmware 7.0.66 on mine. I do have my IoT devices on a separate 2.4ghz only SSID with features like fast roaming disabled. Could that help skirt stability issues?
Thank you for this video! I have been going crazy wondering why all my light switches just randomly drop offline. I suspected my AP but didn't have a way to test it. Now I know.
I have both the u7 pro and pro max. 2.4 GHz devices work just fine. Try the latest 7.0.77 EA firmware for the WiFi 7 APs, it is rock solid. Also unifi just released an EA network app with an Enhanced IoT Connectivity toggle in the WiFi settings. Apparently it disables some WiFi 7 management frames in the 2.4 GHz band.
Yes. I tried the 7.0.77 and new SSID setting. Many of us found it not great with 7.0.76 being better for now. Currently running 7.0.59 on the U7 Pro as both 77 and 76 kept dropping and blocking devices. I have 7.0.76 on the U7 Pro Max for now, it isn't perfect but at least somewhat usable for now. Some progress has been made but they still have a long way to go.
@ what i have found is that regardless of vendor whether it is unifi ASUS or others, 2.4 GHz IoT devices are sometimes very finicky and sometimes you have to try a different channel. I had a garage door opener on 2.4 GHz that would sometimes cut out and stay disconnected (using a SSID on my ASUS). But invariably whenever I changed the channel (due to co-channel interference from neighbors) the device would eventually reconnect for a few weeks. You’ve probably tried this already, but if not, Consider the interference (if any) from your neighbors and try a different channel. I live in a dense urban environment and 2.4 GHz is very clogged. Many SSIDs.
@j340_official I have three access points. 1, 6 and 11 at 20mhz to spread out the load. Ran it as 2.4ghz only for years. Worked great on AC LR, U6 APs etc. Went to U7 and that's where the wheels fall off. Swap the APs back to U6 and it runs beautifully. All the same 2.4ghz devices, just different APs.
Yup. Swapped channels around as the first thing, thinking interference was a problem. Then I swapped APs around, it kept following the U7 models. Then it set in what the issue was/is....
Thank you for your advice. I have two U6LR a I am happy with it's performance, I was about to get the U7 pro max, but decided not to. I will wait for the new device.
Thanks for sharing but can I suggest clearly stating the problem or problems to begin with? I gathered it’s a 2.4ghz radio problem eventually, but you are kinda all over the place.
I'm still having trouble with any Unifi firmware greater than UniFi-Access-Point 6.2.49 with my AC Pro and AC Lite's. My 2.4Ghz devices sometimes drop off after a day, and even with the 6.2.49 firmware I've had issues with SSH'ing into them. It's frustrating because otherwise they have been rock-solid. Maybe I need U6... are the U6-LR's recommended?
I don't have a problem with U7Pro. My settings are a separate network for all the IOT things, set at 2.4GHz with 20 MHz. Not having any problems with WiFi 7 and iPhones on the other network.

I have turned off all the settings everyone says to. I've got a dedicated wifi band for. whenever this happens, I either have to run a channel optimization or goto the device in unifi and hit reconnect. That fixes it and it shows back up in home assistant or each smart homes respective apps. So it's weird. They are still "connected" in unifi but they go offline everywhere else. All my other aps work fine. Non wifi 7 ones.Whenever I run the channel optimization or other things that "reset" the connections it makes them come back.
@@digiblurDIY yeah I try to change it if it does that but good point. Either way it seems that’s just one way I can fix the device but it’s just as easy going through and hitting reconnect on the few that dced. I installed the version you mentioned and will see how it goes. Thanks for making this video. I’ve been messing with the settings for like a month and didn’t see anyone mentioning it until I looked into 2.4 issues and the U7 pro. I’ve been going nuts. So hopefully they get the issue fixed. I noticed that they seem to be working on the issue. So hopefully they get it fixed somehow. Videos like this help get their attention.
Have 5 U7Pro Max and 6U7 Pro no issues with connectivity neither IoT 2,4G nor 5G devices. The only issue is the heat. They are very hot, I would admin extremely damn hot, my finger doesn't support any of them operating normally.
What's your thoughts on the omada wifi 7 series. i actually had a ac-hd that bootloops and was days out of warranty so all ubiquiti was willing to do for me was say sorry. Been down to a nano-hd for a while now. Kind of thinking of jumping ship with a Omada EAP773 or waiting for the Deco BE65-PoE
I haven't tried the U7 side of Omada yet but very tempted to at this point to see how they work. I've used the WiFi 5 and 6 models though without issue.
@@digiblurDIY Do you know if they use similar chipsets? It seems they both run hot. Makes me wonder if its just worth waiting for a second revision to come about. Sounds like that's what you found in the fcc filings
I find it funny how the U6-LR and NanoHD has a Mediatek chip in it. But yet ZERO issues at least on the U6-LR for my IoT devices when compared to the U7 Pro. NanoHD devices also stay connected, but range and performance on 2.4 is sort of terrible. So I have a U6-LR just for my 2.4 IoT devices for now.
The U6-LR isn't as bad but it isn't a U6 Pro by any means. The Nano is hot garbage, tons people have swapped those out. But ironically the Nano beats the U7PRO right now by a long shot.
@@digiblurDIY I actually had a few issues with the U6 Pro when I had it before "upgrading" to the U7 Pro. But the issues were mostly roaming related and latency. But Devices stayed connected
Travis, this might be the universe telling you to start using z-wave devices. While I love my tasmota/esp home devices, I try to stay off of 2.4GHz. I do have the UniFi U7Pro, and haven’t seen any issues yet, but will keep watching. Thanks for the video and info.
I do have some Zwave devices in testing but I have had too many interference issues in the past. It actually brought me to the Sonoff Basic game back in the day as things just worked unlike my Zwave.
I''ve bought 2 of U7 pro, then after one month of using, I returned to U6 enterprise. U7 Pro is so buggy, especially with IoT devices. Although EA firmware do fixed some issue, the TX/RX rate is still weird. Also the range of 6Ghz is so unbareable, the penetration of it is so bad. Surely I understand 6Ghz will have worse signal penetration comapare with 5Ghz. But the signal strength is so weak that even wooden wall can block at least 10-15 dB of it. After "downgrade" to U6 enterprise, everything solved. It feels like U7 Pro is an immature product and all of the the customers are beta tester for it.
The U6 was the same way when it first released, but I'll admit I did by it in beta....I found it useless...was too beta at the time for production like a lot of the flashy stuff that sells out on initial release.
@digiblurDIY I'll go out on a limb and say it was likely the prototype under the hood for what became the U6, but this was about a ~2yrs ago (recounting off top of my head) and I wanna say it was titled the Wi-Fi-6 at the time...I got it threw their pre-release program which arguably is beta release products anyway, however I thought at the very least it would have fallback to legacy protocols but I took it out of the box twice (both are work for deployment, then home on in testing) and had no luck with getting anything to connect. Now I'm curious to see what happens if I were to try newer firmware with it. Was the first and only pre-release product I bought.
@@digiblurDIY yeah it definitely wasn't quite ripe enough at the time. I tend to stick with the tried and true product's like the AC5 line but was looking at the more recent unveilings seeing the 7, and I nearly pulled the trigger on a 7 but then that's what lead me here lol...Glad I did, and so 6 it is for now... Maybe 7's in a year or two
I am disappointed that in this video and last one people are letting Ubiquiti know that they will buy their old stock when they are unsatisfied, instead of going to alternatives, giving the opposite motivation to Ubiquiti. “Mesh” is just the 802.11 k/r/v standard - almost all APs and clients(the client decides when to move to another AP, not the AP) have it implemented now, so you don’t need to stick to Ubiquiti APs…
@@digiblurDIY I am referring to the people in the comments here and on the forums. They are telling Ubiquiti that when they are unsatisfied, they will also buy Ubiquiti's old stock instead of giving Ubiquiti a motivation to fix the problem. The "Mesh" comment was for those worried that if they buy from a different manufacturer, that roaming won't work.
I've been testing the U7 Pro here at home w/ a Pixel 8 and a Pixel 9 Pro max and I can't get anything close to the throughput reported by either my phone or unifi. (350mbps, maybe ~450 tops) But I don't have any other 6ghz devices, so I have a harder time isolating if it's a unifi problem or a problem w/ my phone(s).
U7 with 85 IOT devices. No issues. 7.0.59 and 7.0.66 firmware both fine. A few of my clients also on U7\U7 Max. Every Unifi release seems to have people complaining about iot\iphones\other device connection issues. This seems like more of the same with added Early Adopter tax for WiFi 7. I'm mostly interested to see if UniFi posts an official statement on this or not. Unifi switching chipset layouts does not necessarily indicate an issue and I'm not about to return fleets of access points based on speculation.

1:40 in and I’m literally screaming “get to the point. WHY?” EDITS; 3:53 - so the issues are 2.4ghz connectivity stability issues….. I’m still going to buy it anyway, because I’m smart and nothing in my smart home runs on wifi. I don’t exactly call a bunch of pre-determined if this then that statements, ‘smart’ but go off.
I had my system setup with the U7 Pro Max connected directly to my Dream Machine Special Edition and had nothing but issues. I added in a USW Pro Max 16 PoE and have had zero issues since then. I think it is related both to the need for better switching, since the DM SE is not the best as a switch as well as the PoE ++ power delivery on the USW. I now have both a U7 Pro and a U7 Pro Max with zero issues!
Thanks for this. Prevented me from upgrading to U7's to upgrade from my U6-Lite's that have been having specific device dropouts for months now. Sounds like I would have been making my issue even worse. Guess I might have to pull my trusty UAP-AC-Pro's out of retirement for a minute.

Yes. I have tried the recent tests but keep going back.
@@digiblurDIY DO you have 6ghz enabled because everytime 6hghz is on the TX retries spike and get some interference and even my u6 in wall goes crazy
I have U6 lite AP. For WiFi 7 I suggest second hand Ruckus AP, or second hand Hauwei AP. These are affordable if u buy second hand.
Hey, followed you for a while... your videos are getting better and better. Much more structure and much better quality. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! And this one was a little strange rant and hopefully fix style instead of a project.
Yup! Definitely issues on the 2.4ghz traffic side of this device, especially when it gets loaded up with devices.
Yep same thing here 2.4 u7 pro tx retries through the roof gonan swap for u6 pro definitely needs redesigned glad to see its happening
They have been working on a few new releases of test firmware.
just got the U7 Pro Max, being delivered today. WOW I have to make sure I test this within my return window. Is it 2 weeks from delivery?
Not really sure. Definitely test the hell out of it before you can't return.
Thank you for your educational video and making your followers aware of this issue with the U 7 pro and Max, Since them has there been any progress to improve the existing hardware or has the new hardware (access point) been released?
Some firmware tests but nothing solid yet. I tried the 7.0.83 released yesterday and it has failed already.
@@digiblurDIY Any updated on the New Improver Version of the U7?
U7 pro max .. 4 of them … dedicated 2.4 for IoT… no issues .. only issues are airplay 2 with Sonos but that can be a sonosnet issue
I plan on purchasing the U7 Pro Wall for a home we're building that will be completed in March '25. Have there been reports of similar issues with this device? I really like the device's aesthetics, but I could always use a U6 Pro model instead.
I haven't heard anything good or bad about that one
I have 3 U7 Pro Max's, over 40 devices across all bands (2.4, 5.0 and 6.0 Ghz) and have not had any issues at all. Also, I am using the hybrid WPA3+WPA2 instead of the of the full WPA3. It actually warns you that you might have problems with IOT devices.
That begs the questions of why does it impact so many people and the older APs handle it all with ease?
could you say use an old AC accesspoint strictly for 2.4ghz?
Yes I thought of doing this with some AC LRs
Thank you. Saved me 300+ bucks and headache.
Genuinely curious because i have both a u6 pro and a u7pro and i cant fault either of them.
What specifically is going wrong with them?, im UK based and plugging directly in to a POE+ unifi switch and im just not seeing any issues on 2.4 5 or 6 frequencies
U6 Pro is great. U7 Pro on 7.0.59 is mostly okay with a few random issues.
Same problem with my pixel 8, too
What about U7 outdoor
We have done all the things for years. 20mhz non overlapping plain jane 2.4ghz SSID and it worked great on other lines. Not so much on the U7 line.
I have been rocking the U7 Pro Maxs for 4 months now with zero issues. I have 4 of them connected to a Dream Wall (WiFi disabled on DreamWall)
Don't touch it... don't add any 2.4ghz devices ;)
i don't seem to have this issue with my u7 pro max. only have about 40 devices on 2.4. maybe for fun i switch 2.4 work overt to old ac pro
Some smart home devices have issues with band steering, have you tried limiting your IOT SSID to 2.4 GHZ?
Yep. Been running a plain jane 2.4ghz featureless SSID for years.
I’ve got a netgear R9000 router. It was one of the best, most expensive routers at time of purchase. Can I use one of these as an access point, or do I need to have the unifi router?
UniFi APs do not require their switch or router. You do need their controller software running during setup though.
Did they use different chipsets in their APs, like maybe there was a chipset shortage so switched and added a different chipset in, due to supply chain issues
Just guessing
Not really sure, it does seem odd to add the other chip.
Thanks for the info; do you know if the inwall U7 options have the same issues?
Looking at the specs I would bet it is the same guts just a different form factor so my guess would be yes at this point. I would put that on hold until it is resolved.
Planning on installing multiple units strategically placed to have a visual range between user and AP. Turning 2.4GHz off and tuning power to minimum.
Definitely no issues with 2.4ghz when it is off right? :)
once I swapped to U7 Pro, my IoT 2.4G network just started constant disconnects all the time for all the devices. after swapping back to the U6 Lite, the 25% retry rate dropped to 5-9% with maybe 1 device disconnecting every few days which is not unusual. there is absolutely an issue with the U7 line and even though firmware rollback is a great idea to get it working however is not acceptable. let's see what Unifi does.
Yup!! Things are getting better with the latest firmware testing but it isn't where it needs to be yet.
Solid AP there!
Apparently the 7.0.75 firmware has a new "Enhanced 2.4GHz IoT Connectivity" setting. Have you gotten the chance to try it?
Yes. 7.0.77 failed on both. 7.0.76 failed on the U7P but made the U7PM usable. 7.0.78 released today but I haven't had the time to test it as when things go wrong the dominoes fall hard.
Have you tried creating a 2nd WiFi network that is simply 2.4 Ghz?
Yes. Been running that for years. This is also part of the fix Ubiquiti is trying in the latest firmware and going further and setting it to Wi-Fi 4 specs. It doesn't appear to be working though.
@@digiblurDIYwatching and reading all of these videos on u7 APs has me even more anxious than the shit I’m putting up with with my Atlas max 6e lol.
@brianswails7276 yeah. I would wait this one out before jumping on.
How do you get our updates about this stuff from the FCC?
You just go to the vendor page for the FCC ID and put in your email. fccid.io/SWX
Yup. Same issues I've been having. It gets worse as you load it up with devices and traffic.
Can you test the Zyxel NWA130BE?
I will have to check that one out. Added it to my list. Thanks!
Yep. This is why I run a 2.4ghz only plain jane SSID for them and exactly what Ubiquiti tried in the latest betas ht it isn't working fully just yet.
Thanks for sharing this Travis.
Why skip U6+? Had some issues with lite but not plus
It is a mediatek based chipset and they've been known to not work well with smart home devices. The Qualcomm chipsets have been great up until the U7 line.

Yup! Same plate. I swap U7P and U7PM with U6 Enterprise all the time in this testing nonsense
@@digiblurDIY Perfect! - With the wife already irritated at HA devices randomly not working, drilling new holes to fix it is not a conversation I want to have! 🤣🤣🤣
I fully agree. Mine is very annoyed with the devices being offline a lot.
I have a U7 Pro and a U7 Pro Wall. I find that both devices experience intermittent high TX retries when 6GHz is enabled. Everything looks fine when I turn off WiFi on the 6GHz band. In that case, what’s the point of having these two WiFi 7 APs?
I haven't tried that but again I like my 6ghz speeds so that's not really a fix for me.
I had an issue with some older devices but solved it by creating an IoT network and SSID that only uses WPA2 and changing PMF from optional to disabled. All has been solid since. (Currently on 7.0.66, not sure what firmware I started with because several updates since deployed back in June24)
Yep. That's what I have run for since the AC LR days. Plain jane 2.4ghz 20mhz SSID for smart home devices with all the features disabled.
@@digiblurDIYI’ve had to do the same thing. I have an SSID with no frills and WPA2 only for my IoT devices.
That's kind of what I was thinking with the secondary chipset.
No, many of us already had the dedicated no features 2.4ghz SSID before the U7 line.
Thank you for this video! I have been going crazy wondering why all my light switches just randomly drop offline. I suspected my AP but didn't have a way to test it. Now I know.
Yeah it has been driving us nuts for months and I kept rolling back things and to find it is the damn hardware.
@@digiblurDIY but with the specific u7s that are having issues with IoT devices have you tried changing the channel on those specific APs?
Yup. Swapped channels around as the first thing, thinking interference was a problem. Then I swapped APs around, it kept following the U7 models. Then it set in what the issue was/is....
I have the U7 pro and constantly have problems also
How many devices do you have on 2.4ghz on the AP itself?
@@digiblurDIY 20 devices on the 2.4 GHz channel with a 26% tx retires

What about Cisco Wifi line?
I think they require the licenses but I've heard they have excellent equipment and been on the user side of their stuff with zero issues.

Hands down the U6 Pro as it isn't Mediatek.
Thanks for sharing but can I suggest clearly stating the problem or problems to begin with? I gathered it’s a 2.4ghz radio problem eventually, but you are kinda all over the place.
Why is that? Did I not show the problems and talk about smart homes devices?
I’ve had so many issues with the U6+ I don’t think it’s a hardware issue
That's probably the typical MediaTek chipset issue there which is why I recommend the U6 Pro

I would skip the U6 LR as it is MediaTek. Stick to the qualcomms in the post I linked.
I'm having the same issues with smart devices
I don't have a problem with U7Pro. My settings are a separate network for all the IOT things, set at 2.4GHz with 20 MHz. Not having any problems with WiFi 7 and iPhones on the other network.
Channel optimization usually makes it worse for me as it puts access points on top of each other in channels and drives up the retries.
@@digiblurDIY yeah I try to change it if it does that but good point.

Have you tried 7.0.77 or 76 yet?
7.0.69 seems to be an early access firmware. I'm not on the early access channel.. so 7.0.66 ("up to date") seems working fine to me.
7.0.59 is what I'm talking about as being the one that works.
I've had decent 6ghz coverage but as you've found the 2.4ghz usage is really terrible.
The U6 was the same way when it first released, but I'll admit I did by it in beta....I found it useless...was too beta at the time for production like a lot of the flashy stuff that sells out on initial release.
Which U6? There are quite a few. The U6 Pro and Ent were pretty good at launch and especially 10 months later.
@kylecurry6841 ahh.. I do rememeber that. It was pulled then they flipped the Pro to the U6 LR model name and made a new Pro.
@@digiblurDIY yeah it definitely wasn't quite ripe enough at the time.
I don't run mesh as I prefer the wired especially with these that don't have dedicated backhaul radios.
Does U6 Pro has the 6GHz band?
No
Only the U6 enterprise
6 Enterprise is the only one in that line.
That’s unfortunate, I’ll just hold off for now. Appreciate the heads up @digiblurdiy
I've been testing the U7 Pro here at home w/ a Pixel 8 and a Pixel 9 Pro max and I can't get anything close to the throughput reported by either my phone or unifi. (350mbps, maybe ~450 tops)
But I don't have any other 6ghz devices, so I have a harder time isolating if it's a unifi problem or a problem w/ my phone(s).
I haven't had any issues with Pixels from the 6 to 9 on the U7 line. That part seems to be fine for the most part.
I have a U7 Wall and don’t have any problems with it like everyone is having. 🤷🏽♂️
I haven't heard from others having that issue on that model yet.
More or less in the same boat, would be useful to have a replicable problem to see if there is some common factor

Yup. 2.4ghz smart home devices currently impacted.
Not a switch issue as I've moved it around on different switches as did others. My main switch is the 24 port Enterprise.
The U6 Lites are also on the skip list for the Smarthome world.

Yup. I was hoping for a firmware fix but is has been way too many misses.
3 of u7 pro max and they suck. Some of my devices just disconnect and connect every 1 hour. Support is useless and they have even stopped replying
That's exactly the issue I have. Stuff just randomnly falls off, some won't come back. It got annoying rebooting the house with the breaker.
have you tried the ea 7.0.76 or 77. For me 77 is super worst
7.0.77 was bad for me as well. 7.0.76 is okay..no perfect but it does make the U7PM usable.
@@digiblurDIY exactly. 76 was still okay. But my some devices just refuse to stay connected no matter 74 or 76 or 77. I wanted to grow in ubiquiti products but I am holding my hand as I my first product itself was bad
Purchased 3, still sitting in the boxes. What a disappointment ..... maybe I''ll return these & switch to U6 ...
Please don't watch this nonsense! This guy doesn't have a clue. It's just him complaining a bunch.
Yes. He is weird and all fake news, I heard he made a bunch of bots using AL to post all the fake threads on Reddit and Ubiquiti forums too about the issue.
you bought a product that hasnt been fully adopted and expect it to work. WiFi 7 is for internet clowns.
It's on the regular store and many other companies have been selling WiFi 7 gear for a while. I am on my second phone that supports 7 as well. Not really new
@@digiblurDIY It isnt induatry standard its been out there because people like you will buy into it.
@marcesw35 recall time? AT&Ts new gateway is 7 too.
@@digiblurDIYWOW AT&T's gate is Wifi 7, wo cares what AT&T has they are setting standards.
The U6 Pro and U6 Enterprise have the same issues. All my ESPHome based devices will not stay connected. I started with the U7 Pro, sold those bought U6 Pro's. Same issues persisted, just got the U6 Enterprises and guess what same issues. My try downgrading them but may be done with Ubiquiti.
Running two U6 Enterprise here as that's what I swap back to after trying firmware fixes. No issues on regular release on those. I do run a 2.4ghz only plain jane no feature SSID for my smart home devices
@@digiblurDIY I run a 2.4 no feature SSID for smart home as well, but my Kauf bulbs and Apollo Automation devices keep dropping off all the time. I have to power cycle them twice a day to get them to reconnect.
I've been using them since 2014 and never had any problems
They haven't been out since 2014.
@@digiblurDIY The 1st gen was released around 2005. What are you talking about(?)!!
@@AK-xu1fxhe’s on about u7 pro and pro max
