learned it at a small con last year, for a small box game it was pretty good for what it is. Great video as usually. We need more honest voices like this channel in board game social media. Keep doing what you are doing.

    Hello from Australia!
Love the review, it's like I'm hearing Jason Statham reviewing a board game.
Interesting that you saw the low value "rubbish" cards in the auction as a con and that you may run out of money in the auction round.
I've been in a few games where the rubbish has been the difference between winning and losing and if you run out of money that's were some tough calls to sacrifice a colour came through to secure someone's lead in another.
Glad that it still holds value for you donkey's years on! Would be interested in seeing what you'd give a 5/5 .

Hello Chris...I’ll gladly take on Statham in any game. Name the time/date.

Prob Steve’s best game. Institute of Magical arts is another we like quite a bit. A shame his designs didn’t translate to big box games too well. Foragers springs to mind.

I enjoy Biblios and also found it odd that the dice were just markers. Feel like all it needed was a church card that lets you Roll one dice to better justify them. Could also make the auction phase more interesting if a roll significantly increases a die no one wanted previously.

For a while last year, this became our post-game palate cleanser. It would still have that role if we were meeting up.

I’m usually too wasted on heavy euros to stomach a palette cleanser. Maybe I should start drinking again???

Ask him. I heard he played while going through his Madonna divorce.

Scripts & Scribes is still one of my most prized games. The original from Finn is vastly better than the Iello made version ... a shame. But still a good game.

Good video, but I think you fall short on a couple things.
You argue as your first problem w/ the game being, running out of gold in the auction phase. The goal of the game is not to get gold. Gold is nice but the object is to win the scoring dice which is done w/ the colored cards. Those junk cards can add up and The reason why any gold left over in your hand doesn't help you. So it can go both ways.
Secondly, the auction pile shouldn't have the crap cards in it. The crap cards should be put out for the other players. The auction pile should be filled w/ cards you didn't pick for yourself but you don't want your opponents to have. Our auction pile always has good stuff in it. For which you might be wanting some gold cards? I like the different strategies in the game.

It’s pretty obvious the aim isn’t to get gold but it’s necessary to have. Also one doesn’t really have control over how many crap cards come out so quite often that’s all you have thus they end in the auction pile.
I’ve played this game dozens of time since the making of this video and still feel my points are valid.
      Cheers for the response 👍🏻

@@BoardGameBollocks Just to add, it's now officially out of print. iello is replacing it w/ "The King and Me". A 2-5 player version.
