Capt. is getting wild lately with his playing, it's much more developed beyond just the bluesy typical Fender fan thing he seemed to favor originally. It's awesome to see branching out go markedly well.
Having had my Johnny Marr Jaguar arrive recently it has put all of my other guitars back in their cases. Cannot believe I left it this long to delve into these amazing guitars. The JM Jag if you can find one also avoids the pickup selector headf*ck and has a much better tremolo. I know they mainly plug guitars they sell, but really wish they’d included the JM Jag too.
That Ultra luxe in Texas Tea with a dark Ebony board looks gorgeous. Forbidden fruit to me as a left-handed player. I think Ebony fretboards suit Fenders and should be more widely available, along with the Rosewood and Maple options.
HH Jaguars are the GOAT for rhythm guitar. The older Japanese black HH Jaguars cover everything I need tonally and play great. The 25.5" scale lets drop tunings work a bit better too.
I've been watching you guys for several years and as always, great content with just the right amount of cheekiness to keep things fun. On a serious note however, I want the Captain to hear how impressed I am with the progress of his playing. He is turning into a mature player thanks in part to Pete's lessons I'm sure. Well done gents and keep up the good work!!
Why does Fender still make the old bridge? It might have worked fine with heavy flat wounds a long time ago but now it’s just something you have to fix on a brand new instrument (and I love Jags & Jazzmasters).
I feel sorry for anyone who has never owned a Jag or Jazzmaster. They fill a unique place in the tone spectrum. PS, Capt. I must say your teaming with Pete is so much better than a former sidekick, let's put it this way, Pete's playing has soul and his character compliments yours.
Jags are my favorite Fenders; the red and blue look great, though I'd prefer a white pickguard. No interest in the Ultra Lux, loses too much of what makes a Jag a Jag IMO. My fav guitar is my Marr Jag, followed by my Fender MIJ Jag. These are tough to find in the US, as are the Vintera series.
Access to the upper frets on these guitars is lit. Awesomeness. Alan Jardine has a Strat, a Gibson Les Paul BB; Gibson SG in white, and Jaguar. BTW: Al Jardine also plays a Mustang. It looked early 1960's to my eyes. Andy Brauer in Studio City California refinished it for him in circa 2010. To each his own.
Fender seems to have lost the plot on branding with the Luxe model. Jaguars are distinctive due to (in order of importance IMO): Offset body, 24" scale, Two single coils w/claws, Trem/Vibrato w/non-fixed bride & mute, its unique switching system plus frequent appearance in bright colors w/matching headstock. For me, the body shape and 24" scale are mandatory. Moving to 25.5" moves the guitar into Jazzmaster territory. Celebrating the 60th w/ a "greatest hits" models (personally think that is a spot on description) is pretty cool, and as a Jaguar fan who doesn't have a "traditional" Jaguar (one is Thinline and the other an American Pro) I have a MLPB on order. For me the Luxe would have been a valid variation on the Jaguar if they had just kept the 24" scale. Don't understand why didn't Fender come out with Luxe versions of both Jaguar & Jazzmaster with former @24" and latter @25.5"?
Well Captain it would be worth noting that these Jaguar's are more expensive than the Johnny Marr signature model. Block inlays belong to Gibson. £110 should be set aside to give to John at Staytrem for a precision engineered bridge & tremolo arm/collet. The bridge should sit 3-4mm above the pick guard with low/medium action. This ensures that the neck has the essential amount of pitch back. 0.11 or 0.10s should be used. All these are incorporated on my Squier Olympic white Vintage Modified Classic along with a Fender tremolo & 65 Avri pickups (super cheap). I have a fantastic Jaguar for around £750. Oh yes the black one should be called a Puma coz it ain't a Jag. (Nb. Added vitriol as Fender have sorted all the bridge issues, but you have to pay Custom Shop prices for the solution.) Liked the playing BTW. The jaguar is a proper rock guitar. Thanks for not playing any surf.. Now Motown rhythm slabs are made for Jags.
That red Jag has really triggered my GAS even though I have Fender Japan Jag 66 in Seafoam with matching headstock and JGS "Dragster" already - and a 1972 Antoria Jaguar "copy" like Kevin Shields. Those block inlays and matching headstock... The sparkling tones on the JGS Jag are incredible - and the Ultra Luxe I would expect to be pretty similar.
I like how "authentic" the blue and red Jaguars are - string mutes? How quaint. The brown one is simply a versatile offset, useful for almost any genre, from what I can tell. Thanks!
Not mad on the colors. A mint green or off white pick guard looks much better with the blue and red. They should play more with clean tones and a reverb tank.
Danish Pete should drop into his local car spray shop and start sniffin' some of the old nitro paint! I used to paint cars with it back in the mid Seventies. Ohhhh yeahhhhhhhhhh! Diggin' the new Jags too!. Greg.
I was never anything but a strat guy….then I walked into a shop and saw a candy apple 2018i? Professional Jag, and loved it cause it was simplified…them I ripped the guts out of it,put in 2 Seymour Duncan jr humbuckers and now it is my number 1.
Forget the Jags (or Japan Vintage re-issues for that matter), we want to see the Squier 40th anniversary series! It's like the first year I'm more excited for the Squiers over the Fenders. Haha thanks guys, great to see the new gear rolling in for demos.
My favourite guitar, with my favourite aspects, block inlays, binding and a matching headstock. But the colours just don’t do it for me. Not that I could afford one anyway hahah
Oooh Sir!! That opening solo by the Captain was 🔥🔥.
Yes it was, sweet playing Lee.
Lol the top comment is always some coddling of Lee’s playing. I’m sure he gets sick of it but it makes me chuckle ha ha
That opening was freaking fire, man, always loved the Jags and these 60th Anniversary reissues look undoubtedly gorgeous
Go Captain Go!!! You sounded amazing in the opening!
Those solos in the intro 😍
I have allways like the Jaguar tone, sounds very unique
I grabbed one of the ultra luxe jags, and I absolutely love it. The sustain is unreal.
Did anyone else find the perfectly synchronized plug in at 17:38 extremely satisfying? 😆
Great stuff as always! These are beautiful!
I was quite synchronized by the labial rendition. Lip-smacking, it was.
Jags remain the sweetest guitar fender ever made! They are just a blast to play!
Captain you are improving a lot, Loved your solo's for a while now
Yaay a heart :3
Great playing from Lee!!! Awesome vibrato technique!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I will never forget someone on this channel (I think it was blindfolded Chappers) describing a Jaguar as a "neutered Strat" lol
A Castratocaster, if you will.
an exposed strat is a plastercaster.
Never was a Jaguar fan but these guitars look stunning and always down for the Andertons vibe. Rock on Lee and Pete!
I loved the intro, love the Jaguars and I love Andertons!! Great review of killer guitars! 🎈
The Jaguar is my favorite guitar. One day I'll get my hands on a 1964 Lake Placid Blue Jag.
they are so under appreciated imo!
That black Ultra Luxe needs to be in my life.
15:35 sounds really Gilmour'ey, love it!
The Humbucker model sounded great!
Pete’s lead work in the intro was filthy.
Capt. is getting wild lately with his playing, it's much more developed beyond just the bluesy typical Fender fan thing he seemed to favor originally. It's awesome to see branching out go markedly well.

What an opening by the Captain!
Holy smokes, Lee your playing has grown soo strong! Very melodic, I love it!
Wow Petes looking great, looks like he's lost some weight. Looking really healthy 🙂
That intro jam was epic! 🔥
Those new mystic colors are killer!
Hahahaha. Proud Peter at the begining of the video. You can hear him think: "I taught him that".
The Captain was in his pocket today (for the intro jam)!
Wow 🤩 Love LOVE the Ultra lux one!!!! Beautiful
Nothing sounds like a Jag. BTW, Carl Wilson played, and loved, his Jag. Nice demo guys.
That blue one is stunning🥶🥶🔥🔥
Pete shedded the bloated, tired and old look. Now he looks trim, lean, younger and healthier . Good job buddy 👍
Fr he looks so much younger lol
HH Jaguars are the GOAT for rhythm guitar. The older Japanese black HH Jaguars cover everything I need tonally and play great. The 25.5" scale lets drop tunings work a bit better too.

Captain You’re Tour Ready And That Guitar WOW !!! 👍👍🎶🎶🎸
That A string needs re-saddling on the blue one! :D
Why does Fender still make the old bridge? It might have worked fine with heavy flat wounds a long time ago but now it’s just something you have to fix on a brand new instrument (and I love Jags & Jazzmasters).
Pete and Captain looking good like them guitars 💪
I need a whole video of Pete playing jazz with his Jazz Smile on.
I feel sorry for anyone who has never owned a Jag or Jazzmaster. They fill a unique place in the tone spectrum. PS, Capt. I must say your teaming with Pete is so much better than a former sidekick, let's put it this way, Pete's playing has soul and his character compliments yours.
I'm planning to buy one along with a dano or a j45 when I get my taxes filed.
I remember back when Rob wasn’t in the videos as much and I was sad but now if I see Rob I’m usually bummed it’s not Pete.
Are you THE Neil Aspinall from Liverpool ?
@@ItsJustRyan89 Probably about as much as you are Bane Dorrance?
@@Neil-Aspinall 🤣
The red and blue ones are gorgeous😁
Jags are my favorite Fenders; the red and blue look great, though I'd prefer a white pickguard.
No interest in the Ultra Lux, loses too much of what makes a Jag a Jag IMO.
My fav guitar is my Marr Jag, followed by my Fender MIJ Jag.
These are tough to find in the US, as are the Vintera series.
I'd be interested in trying a long scale Jag if it had the regular electronics and vibrato.
Those are beautiful guitars.
Guess Pete lost some weight, looking fine! Cap slayed that solo
incredible how high these prices have gone

This was the first time in years of watching this channel that I felt Lee outplayed Pete in the opening jam. Never thought I'd see the day.
A Captain meets Kyle Gas would be Amaaaaaaziiing!
I would have liked to hear a little Surf-Rock with those beauties. Something post-Tarantino.
that ultra luxe wouldve been my perfect guitar if it had the 24" scale
Jags look so rad
Pete keeps looking younger every time I see him

Captains clearly had his weetabix, that opening solo was epic!!
9:30 could have played some Sabbath and Zeppelin with that fuzz
If scale is increased from 24 it isn't a a jaguar anymore
Well Captain it would be worth noting that these Jaguar's are more expensive than the Johnny Marr signature model. I wish you tried the Johnny Marr signature Jaguar! I absolutely love it amazing tone and less buttons to worry about! Might suit you guys better?
I like how "authentic" the blue and red Jaguars are - string mutes? How quaint. The brown one is simply a versatile offset, useful for almost any genre, from what I can tell. Thanks!
From the period, Carl Wilson played the Jag, Al Jardine sported the Strat, and Brian plucked the P-- all white.
Not mad on the colors. A mint green or off white pick guard looks much better with the blue and red.
They should play more with clean tones and a reverb tank.
I'm waiting for the day when Lee will open his solo with a different lick 😆
Danish Pete should drop into his local car spray shop and start sniffin' some of the old nitro paint! I used to paint cars with it back in the mid Seventies. Ohhhh yeahhhhhhhhhh! Diggin' the new Jags too!. Greg.
Hey Pete you been hanging around the barbershop? Nice cut dude.
Kind of War on Drugs vibe at the end. Very nice.
Never seen a Jaguar like the brown one with the humbucker
Wow Lee your playing has really improved a lot. How did you do that?
That's early Black Sabath at 10:04
The vibrato viper is back
15:00 yeah I'd tap it too, Captain
Very good (and topical) Crazy Horse style intro ;)
The Jaguar in Mystic Lake Placid Blue is just NSFW! 😁
Here I am thinking about buying a Jaguar knowing I think they sound thin and weak. You guys are great.
I like that blue one pets playing
I was never anything but a strat guy….then I walked into a shop and saw a candy apple 2018i? Professional Jag, and loved it cause it was simplified…them I ripped the guts out of it,put in 2 Seymour Duncan jr humbuckers and now it is my number 1.
The intro jam rulez! The BT Is available to purchase? Anyway those Jags are amazing!!
LOLL the ending
This run of Jags are crazy expensive!
I’m lead to believe It’s not just a Gibson type bridge it’s made in the same factory
Missing out on that red Jaguar will be my biggest guitar regret.
Eddie Perez from the Mavericks occasionally plays a white Jaguar for that spaghetti western sound
Please review the Ultra Luxe strats and teles too.
The Ultra Luxe should be called a Puma or something like that. Not a Jaguar, but it sounds really good.
Oh Gosh , i found another guitar to buy :)...(Texas tea)
Very War on Drugs sounding outro jam there
Was that Slash or the Captain in the opener?
Forget the Jags (or Japan Vintage re-issues for that matter), we want to see the Squier 40th anniversary series! It's like the first year I'm more excited for the Squiers over the Fenders. Haha thanks guys, great to see the new gear rolling in for demos.
Is that ultra one lee has is it texas tea paint job? Because it looks black but than it looks brown like oil does , or is it just a really dark brown
I had a 1963 Sonic Blue Fender Jaguar
Jags really cover a lot of ground . .
i wonder how the 60th anniversary models compare to the 50th anniversary from 2012 (which is a ripper)!
Woo-hoo!!!!
think the pressure from Cap Lee's playing got to Pete in the first bit there....he just about got it back....but there was an ugly moment....lol
Can't Fender do some of these things on cheaper models, all I want is block inlays, binding and matching headstocks....
Jaguar the best
Carl Wilson played a Jaguar.
The teeth on the pickups were apparently an attempt to reduce hum
I swear that outro must be lifted from a War On Drugs track!
My favourite guitar, with my favourite aspects, block inlays, binding and a matching headstock. But the colours just don’t do it for me. Not that I could afford one anyway hahah
Sold on Jaguar since Intro/Keep it healthy by Warpaint, Live At Bonnaroo
Indeed
