He did say it was an H Creamback rather than an M, which would mean it has a sensitivity of 100db. No idea why it would be quieter though, other than I suspect the Fatboy has 8 ohm speakers and the Studio Pro has 16 ohm speakers, due to the huge difference in tone. There could be a volume difference there too.
If those 2 Vintage 30s are different impedances then that will account for most of the tonal variation. It's hard to tell the cabs apart when the speakers are that different.
great comparison - I think hearing stuff in a mix is a lot more helpful than hearing it in isolation. Hearing tones in isolation, you kinda get fixated on what the tones are lacking compared to others, but in a mix, you focus on how it sits in the mix, which is the right way to listen to things, in my experience! For example, I thought the V30 in the studio pro sounded quite thin on its own compared to the fatboy but I liked the way it had a kind of open "airy-ness" of the studio pro sound in the mix, whereas the fatboy was a bit 'tubby' sounding, for want of a better word.
Hey Adam - thanks for the comparison ! Was the sound between the two V30 in the room as massive as it is on the recording? Is there such a difference between the fatboy and the SP ? cheers
The Studio Pro is taller, less deep and has a 3-piece back, so is more “fender” like, where the fat boy is a deeper cab with back bracing for a much deeper sound
Very interesting. What a difference between those 2 cabs! The Fatboy sounds great to me. I would be very interested to hear clean tones too. Have you planned a 1X12 shootout? Btw, thanks for the greay work!
Both sound good. Actually, the V30 in the Studio Pro sounds kinda like in another cab (P*lmer F212) : a bit harsh, yet with a tad more basses. I really like the FatBoy more :) For "heavy music" rhythm parts, that is.
Right :) Actually, having spoken with Paul from Zilla and have listened to your demo, well... the SFB is what will work best for me. Heavy/tight low end, more "3D".
Yeah, I did :) I knew speakers did sound differently on their own (and also in various cabs), yet such a huge difference within the same cab was not expected. I really liked V30, EVH, LynchBack... Not the CreamBacks, though. Waiting for more speaker comparisons (G12-K100, for instance).
Dude, it is honestly not in my intention to be mean but please talk less and to the point and get tovtge sound faster. When I clicked your video I was hoping to hear the comparisons I had to listen to a lot of talking that I am sorry for saying that I just don't care to know. So here here is a constructive suggestion, either skip the talking or put it after the sound clips or right at the beginning even without mentioning it some box with timepoint to skip to the sound clips. The reason for that is because your title is catchy and I an looking for the content of the sound. Besides all that, I think you are doing good job on your channel.
The Creamback is noticeably quieter than the others. I presume that's because of the 97dB sensitivity vs. 100dB?

This is lovely, thank you for doing this.
They are all good for different reasons. When you put em in and set your prefered knobs youll know if they help your sound become greater.
All speaker sounded great, just different. The lack of a grill cloth on the Fatboy may have made a small difference too.

What kind of wood is that strat body made from?? I love the grain
Good video Adam. Pity you don't make them anymore!
A really useful comparison, thanks for posting it. Can you remember if the studio pro was closed or open back?
In this comparison the studio pro would have been closed, although I think I opened it up for a different video comparing the two styles
Thanks, I’m surprised that there is such a big difference between the two cabs. Did you hear the same differences in the room?
I like the sound f the studio pro it sounds clean
A vintage 30 and a k100 would sound incredible together in a 2x12
Pretty sure I did a video with exactly that
What’s the difference in construction besides the mesh? I really liked the v30 in the pro

+dragui 99 I only have one 1x12, but our latest comparison is between several Zilla cabs. Check it out!
Both sound good.

that vintage on the fatboy was so fat sounding! i loved the creamback on the studio too but the fatboy wins 👍👍

No clue how they sounded because I got sick of the talking and moved on.
So you didn’t have time to skip ahead, but you did have time to write a snotty comment?
Hop Pole Studios I did. Good intentions though.
