I find that he's really the only person that takes them with the right amount of seriousness, leaving the cutscenes silent and having super immersive commentary ^^
So...wait... Does that mean the mole-man that Great-Grandmother Edie gave an interview about wasn't completely made up? Because Walter was still living under the house that whole time...he was the mole-man!
Yup. As the game goes on you realize Edie uses fantasy to describe things so they're not as bad a memory. (Sven being killed by a dragon = Dragon slide collapsed on him; Walter lived underground = was a mole man)
"I don't think there's anything wrong with your family!" ~in the description~ "I wouldn't marry into that" this is RUclips's version of talking behind someone's back
I'm more pleased by that little grunt he makes as Cry whips the camera down to make the discovery that she's pregnant, than the actual discovery that she's pregnant.
For anyone confused about the family timeline or lineage so far (noticed Cry got confused who Edie and Sven are a couple times): - Edie is Edith's great grandma (and who all the characters so far, except Edith, have referred to as 'mom'). Sven is Edie's husband, Edith's great grandpa. - Molly, Barbara, Calvin, and Walter are Edith's (the character we play) great aunts/uncles. They're the siblings to her grandfather Sam and all the children of Edie and Sven. - Molly died when Barbara was 3, the other siblings were not yet born. Molly was 10 when she died. - Barbara died when Sam & Calvin were 10, Walter was 8. Barbara died on her 16th birthday. - Calvin was 11 when he died, one year after Barbara. - Walter was 53 when he died. Hope this helps anyone lost.
+Reign oooohhhhh, no wonder when on the first episode I realize how weird her belly looked (like how close her belly was when the camera looked down) but I thought it was just the graphics. I didn't even think she was pregnant.
I had my suspicions, but now they've been confirmed. And I imagine Edith's own story, about how she ended up pregnant at such a young age, is going to be one of the most potent out of all of them. Also, Great-Uncle Walter had a damn cool fallout shelter. I wish my area had a bunch of underground tunnels like that, but I reckon the River Wandle and the local water table has other ideas. And while we did have air raid shelters in the town back in the day, I imagine it would be more than a kerfuffle to get permission to dig deep into the earth in these parts.
Not gonna lie, that last one gave me chills. But anyways, this game is A Series of Unfortunate Events mixed with The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter. Anyone else getting vibes like that from this game? [ loving it so far either way! ]
It made me remember this kid in 1st grade who was running and tripped and cracked his skull open and it's left me scarred for years god I have no idea what he's doing now
Man that last story was really depressing like he just had to die like that when he was all hopeful and looking forward to the future and stuff... What a metaphor
Cry: "On the last video. *Shark rolling downhill* "Okay" Cry: "And so it continues" I died laughing. Cry, I seriously LOVE the snippets you chose from previous videos to put at the beginning of the next. Haha Majority of the time they make me laugh so hard.
this game just hits me with so many feels Calvin's story always makes me cry, and Walter just wanted to start a new this game is so beautiful to look at but so full of sorrow
A house like that would have way too much history, I could not see myself changing anything and would prefer to leave it all as much undisturbed as possible, even a short visit would be on the limits of stretching it.
Boy am I glad you're playing this game, Cry. the storytelling is just superb and the ending is just wow! God, wait till you get to Lewis' storyline, I actually cried at that point.
Fuck that swing part. I had a phobia like fear of swings due to that thought of unsafe heights, when I was younger. All I can say now... My butt hurts from all the clench it went through.
That dude tried to sail his entire House across the whole damn Ocean... Everyone knows *_THE ONLY WAY_* You can move your house somewhere is with thousands of balloons attached to it with an Old Miserable White Guy and an Asian Boy Scout piloting it. Get Good Odin...
So this whole thing started with someone opening a book right, and this narration is what was in it? I get the feeling that by the end of this we're going to find out that what remains of Edith Finch is not much.
I always usually wait for cry to finish a series before I watch it so I don't have to wait for each episode. But with this series I just can't! I gotta see it as soon as he posts!
Any one else reminded of Tales from the Crypt during the comic book sequence about Barbara's death? The pumpkin guy even sounded like the Crypt Keeper to me, complete with bad puns!
Pretty fucked up that it's about the murder of your family member in that very house though, especially since it implies Edith (sir) is the one that made all of them.
Good god someone should really get this family a lucky leprechaun or something. A million rabbit feet. A billion lucky clovers. And even then that might not be enough. Holy shit.
So far this game is actually really good, I did get scared a few times on wondering what will happen when the mysteries were solved because some of them were actually pretty weird and some just plain out creepy and messed up. But overall this game is great and I think you should keep playing this Cry, for me it is very interesting to see what will happen next heck I might even play this game myself one day. Anyways I hope you have a wonderful day, night, and even afternoon and can't wait for you to play the next part. Bye-Bye!!!
That swinging part was slightly terrifying for me because I had the exact kind of dream before where I swung in circles and it's weird feeling the same thing again but actually being awake this time, gives me shivers. This game is getting weirder and creepier and I don't know how to feel about it lol
"On the Last Video" *Cry inserts a hilarious script as I die out of laughter and nostalgia* It's been a while since there was an intro like that and it made me feel oddly happy haha
He usually posts from monday to friday when he finds a game enjoyable or interesting enough Don't think that has changed even though seeing Cry Play's is less frequent now
+just some loser xDD just saw him today again wrecking Saki's outfit lol. Ai's makeover on the other hand is such a pleasure to watch, it comes together instantly when he puts on the bunny ears
Personally I think Edie added the date herself. From her point in the story, I think she knew she was going to pass soon.. or perhaps to memorialize her grandmother, Dawn returned to add the date without telling Edith. I find the argument for both to be plausible, I just find the second to be less plausible.
OH I'VE MISSED THESE ORDINARY UPLOADS SO MUCH!! AND I'VE MISSED YOUUU! So HAPPY you're back! And I'm also super happy that you are playing this game! It's awesome!
It's actually like basically impossible to do what Calvin did. Myth busters busted that it wasn't possible to go all the way around the swing by just swinging. They had to strap rockets to it to get it to work right lol.

5:08 "You're only as young as you feel...That's not true, it's whatever's on your driver's license". That was a "realistically speaking" moment XD 6:28 That's called a "darkroom" :) 11:24 => 11:38 Men's reactions to pregnancy are priceless XD 25:10 Hopefully Little Debbie Fancy Cakes :) #notsponsored 26:30 Can one survive for 30 years with only a can of peaches per day? Also, was there enough room to store 365*30 = 10950 cans? And they didn't get spoiled? O.o
He had more than peaches down there, plus Edie went down there every so often as MC pointed out just before going in. She probably brought him stuff he needed every so often.
I guess so, it was weird that the game only showed him eating peaches :P I didn't join the dots of Edie going to the basement and Walter being down there, thanks for pointing that out :)
Wow, this is such an amazing playthrough so far!! The game's plot heavy emotional elements combined with Cry's lighthearted commentary and occasional life advice/anecdotes is great!! Quickly becoming a favorite series of mine. Good to have you back for however long you stay, Cry~. uwu
Cry tbh I haven't emotionally invested myself in a complete play-through of yours since The Cat Lady but you got me right in the feels lately. So thrilled for this.
i watched this with full anxiety but the way you talked and reacted to things was enough to calm me down. can't wait for more of this, my virtual big bro
Oh gosh I thought i was getting into a pretty game with stunning visuals and a relaxing story, instead im getting anxiety with intriguing story.... not what i expected but staying to watch the rest. So glad to have you back with amazing game choices cry!
if edith jr was 6 in 2005 and is now 17, this games taking place in 2016?? for some reason i thought this entire thing took place in like....the 1800's (that was until i saw the finch family ate chinese delivery food a lot)
Cry is back that's all that matters I don't really care what game you play whatever you want because it's good to hear you play a game again and plus sounds like you are having a good time with it and that's good to hear after all these temporary videos
My feeble brain box couldn't possibly handle all this shit. But it absolutely can handle these primo videos. I've missed these, for sure. Hope you're doing okay, my guy.
Or maybe the Finches were just dumbasses. lol I think they might have decided on not using it after the first time that someone took a shower in there, and from the humidity alone cast off by the hot shower, the shag rugs got completely soaked and it turned into a pink cotton/polyester swamp in there.
that's somewhat easier to imagine ^^ Pink fluff bathrooms surely seem like something Stanley Kubrik would use in his movies ^^ "Dave... Do not go in there, Dave..."
Cry, my man, you are a gem for uploading so quickly. I have been dying to know more about this family since yesterday and I intend to stick with your playthrough. Take care, buddy.
Lucas Silva Maybe cause these particular fans were really messed up and wanted to be famous too, so they became famous by killing her? idk just a thought
I know a lot of people already told you but it's really nice to see you back. You're pretty much the only Let's Player I watch because of your chill attitude which makes it very enjoyable. I hope you're feeling better :)
wow this is an everyday thingyyyyyyyy sweeeeeeeeet also there was an addddddddd. (I've finished firewatch, now i'm finishing unravel. and pausing it for this. xD)
After your video yesterday, I immediately went to the PS store at 2am and bought the game myself and finished it all. This game is so interesting... and it gives you a melancholic feeling. It is one hell of an experience and I recommend you all play it, it's so so SO unique, really a masterpiece! So Cry I can't wait to watch your next parts of this playthrough! Thanks for playing it in the first place, I've seen the game on the PS store so many times but I'd always scroll through it, if it wasn't for your video I'd have never played this game myself ❤️
No horror game will never give me the worst feeling of anxiety than the scene of the kid swinging on the swings.
The peepholes did it for me
I know right? At first it made me dizzy, but then as he got higher and higher, I was sitting further and further back in my chair!
oh my god same
I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THANK GOD
i have a fear of heights too so this part was just *shudders*
Totally agree.
I'm pretty sure the shaking that Walter felt was the train going by every day at 12.
Aaron Koning I think so too.
Aaron Koning His story makes me feel so many things. Him and Lewis
Aaron Koning Holy shit you're right. I've watched this game through once but I didn't realize that before, thanks ;)
But what about the sudden stop?
Change of schedule.
It feels like plot-heavy games are just made for Cry ♡
Cry gets into the stories so much plot games are really his thing the walking dead or last of us was like that also
Yes he gets so into the games it's the best
Ayuumiku M and the ambience he gives for us for these kind of games is such a blessing..
Ayuumiku M I agree. I prefer story driven games myself, yet watching someone else play them like Cry here has always been a pleasent experience. :)
It all fits together one way or another in this game, doesn't it?
thats crazy wow
Yup. As the game goes on you realize Edie uses fantasy to describe things so they're not as bad a memory. (Sven being killed by a dragon = Dragon slide collapsed on him; Walter lived underground = was a mole man)
Also, Walter had moles on his arms.
♦MothHoarder♦ OMG I JUST REALIZED THAT JZJZBBZBXBX
"I don't think there's anything wrong with your family!"
~in the description~ "I wouldn't marry into that"
this is RUclips's version of talking behind someone's back
Watching that swing scene was some next level torture.
I wanted to puke during that part
Flaw Holic What time was that?
8:12
I'm more pleased by that little grunt he makes as Cry whips the camera down to make the discovery that she's pregnant, than the actual discovery that she's pregnant.
i paused just to see if there's a comment about it LOL
For anyone confused about the family timeline or lineage so far (noticed Cry got confused who Edie and Sven are a couple times):
- Edie is Edith's great grandma (and who all the characters so far, except Edith, have referred to as 'mom').
Halloweenfox2 also Kay whom Edith talks about doing the pink bathroom is her Grandmother first wife to Her grandpa Sam
@ Yutube Junkie Yup!
And here i thought i was actually getting sleep tonight...
Edit 1. you are one of the first few people to realize she's pregnant.
+Reign oooohhhhh, no wonder when on the first episode I realize how weird her belly looked (like how close her belly was when the camera looked down) but I thought it was just the graphics. I didn't even think she was pregnant.
Reign
Isnt she only 17 though?? Oh gosh, thats so young!
I mean when the first ep came and Cry looked down you can easily tell she was pregnant, he just didn't pay attention the first time
I had my suspicions, but now they've been confirmed. And I imagine Edith's own story, about how she ended up pregnant at such a young age, is going to be one of the most potent out of all of them.

And while we did have air raid shelters in the town back in the day, I imagine it would be more than a kerfuffle to get permission to dig deep into the earth in these parts.
Reign You're lucky I already finished the game...or that would've been a spoiler for me.. >:c
This family is talented in eating everything as a whole.
Not gonna lie, that last one gave me chills.
But anyways, this game is A Series of Unfortunate Events mixed with The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter. Anyone else getting vibes like that from this game? [ loving it so far either way! ]
this is like the vanishing of ethan carter was my very first thought about this game lol
It gave me Unfortunate Events vibes, I think that's what made me fall in love with this game.
Flurffie I haven't played The Vanishing of Ethan Carter? Should I play it or watch a playthrough of it? XP it sounds similar in names to lol XD
I wonder what the kid in Cry's class that fell ontop of the bar is doing right now? That's some pretty rad childhood memory there.
Domunique Asking the important questions
It made me remember this kid in 1st grade who was running and tripped and cracked his skull open and it's left me scarred for years god I have no idea what he's doing now
Man that last story was really depressing like he just had to die like that when he was all hopeful and looking forward to the future and stuff... What a metaphor
Yep, he would have been happy to have a year, a month or a single day. But he did not get a damn hour, the poor guy.
I love the variety in all the stories of how the family members die, ranging from heart-wrenching to morbidly funny.
I don't see how any of them were morbidly funny. Just sad..
Cry: "On the last video. *Shark rolling downhill* "Okay"
Cry: "And so it continues"
I died laughing. Cry, I seriously LOVE the snippets you chose from previous videos to put at the beginning of the next. Haha Majority of the time they make me laugh so hard.
"That's a neat thing. Butterfly!"
Quality commentary by Cry.
Father Cry thank you for blessing us
this game just hits me with so many feels
Calvin's story always makes me cry, and Walter just wanted to start a new
this game is so beautiful to look at but so full of sorrow
RottingRootsArts a lot of the stories make me feel sad, Gregory and Lewis' stories were tragic as hell...
scariest thing in this game is Carpeted Bathroom
Rainbow Pigeon really? That's what spooked ya!? XD
i would buy this house in an instant if it was sold, series of cursed deaths or not
glovesandtea would you actually live in it though? If I were to buy it I would probably leave a lot of the shit intact as a memorial to the family
A house like that would have way too much history, I could not see myself changing anything and would prefer to leave it all as much undisturbed as possible, even a short visit would be on the limits of stretching it.
I thought it said "I would buy this house in an infant". Boy, that was weird.
Boy am I glad you're playing this game, Cry. the storytelling is just superb and the ending is just wow! God, wait till you get to Lewis' storyline, I actually cried at that point.
It always makes me cry since my brother was just like lewis. Just ended his life differently.
I had tears during Calvins story. These kids died so young.
PART TWO ALREADY?? HELL YEAH, BLESS U CRY :D
He didn't sneeze
Vyre but if he did, it would be adorable :3
Fuck that swing part.
I had a phobia like fear of swings due to that thought of unsafe heights, when I was younger.
All I can say now...
My butt hurts from all the clench it went through.
That dude tried to sail his entire House across the whole damn Ocean... Everyone knows *_THE ONLY WAY_* You can move your house somewhere is with thousands of balloons attached to it with an Old Miserable White Guy and an Asian Boy Scout piloting it. Get Good Odin...
"I don't want to hear any more sad stories"
Well then you're playing the wrong game
16:05
Cry's reaction though x'D
So the shaking Walter was feeling was the train coming at its scheduled time, 12:00. I thought it was an earthquake, durrr
What I like about Cry is he never makes dirty jokes at inappropriate times, there are many RUclipsrs did that and it was really annoying.
Jenny Lưu that's what I like about him too. He let's the plot continue and just adds input where input is deserved
Oh god NO. Walter had the saddest ending ever 😭
I gotta see it as soon as he posts!
that shark is adele. rolling in the deep...
forest
"The day he made up his mind to fly... and he did." that hurt my soul
"smaller bellies?"
*forcefully looks at stomach*
OH MY GOD YOUR PREGANAT
I'm crying and i know what i said
Any one else reminded of Tales from the Crypt during the comic book sequence about Barbara's death? The pumpkin guy even sounded like the Crypt Keeper to me, complete with bad puns!
Well now that you mention it...
I like the "tales from the crypt" comic book style story telling gameplay of Barbara's death, that's pretty cool
Pretty fucked up that it's about the murder of your family member in that very house though, especially since it implies Edith (sir) is the one that made all of them.
Hidden it's not unusual to tell stories like that based off real events, or to retell the story completely. It kinda reminded me of Twisted Tens
Good god someone should really get this family a lucky leprechaun or something. A million rabbit feet. A billion lucky clovers. And even then that might not be enough. Holy shit.
Or a cricket
This game seems really unique and weird and I'm really glad you're playing it Cry!
I never been so early in my life!!! cry you always make me smile and I'm grateful for that💙
So far this game is actually really good, I did get scared a few times on wondering what will happen when the mysteries were solved because some of them were actually pretty weird and some just plain out creepy and messed up. But overall this game is great and I think you should keep playing this Cry, for me it is very interesting to see what will happen next heck I might even play this game myself one day. Anyways I hope you have a wonderful day, night, and even afternoon and can't wait for you to play the next part. Bye-Bye!!!
Cry I thought there was nothing your brain box couldn't handle.
That swinging part was slightly terrifying for me because I had the exact kind of dream before where I swung in circles and it's weird feeling the same thing again but actually being awake this time, gives me shivers. This game is getting weirder and creepier and I don't know how to feel about it lol
"On the Last Video" *Cry inserts a hilarious script as I die out of laughter and nostalgia*
It's been a while since there was an intro like that and it made me feel oddly happy haha
wut
Is cry posting everyday!?!?!?! ok now am dead
He usually posts from monday to friday when he finds a game enjoyable or interesting enough
Don't think that has changed even though seeing Cry Play's is less frequent now
i confirm what Beautypearl said. But it does feel like a treat after months of no cry plays at all
+just some loser oh god yes
+just some loser xDD just saw him today again wrecking Saki's outfit lol.
Ai's makeover on the other hand is such a pleasure to watch, it comes together instantly when he puts on the bunny ears
"Oh dear!" was probably the calmest reaction for that moment lol
That's a horrible location for a swing
how does it have Edies death date on the door if she died some time after they left?
maybe the nursing home people were nice enough to come back and pencil it in?
2013Fangirl I feel like that doesn't make sense because she even says it looks the same as when they left.
Maybe they came back for a minute to put it on there?
Personally I think Edie added the date herself. From her point in the story, I think she knew she was going to pass soon.. or perhaps to memorialize her grandmother, Dawn returned to add the date without telling Edith. I find the argument for both to be plausible, I just find the second to be less plausible.
Maybe someone was still there *dun dun dddduuuuunnn*
OH I'VE MISSED THESE ORDINARY UPLOADS SO MUCH!! AND I'VE MISSED YOUUU!
So HAPPY you're back! And I'm also super happy that you are playing this game! It's awesome!
Daily videos by Cry again? Hell to the effin yes,
So… I just watched the first episode(legit just finished like a minute ago) and now episode two is out … coincidence, I THINK NOT !
it is
It's actually like basically impossible to do what Calvin did. Myth busters busted that it wasn't possible to go all the way around the swing by just swinging.
They had to strap rockets to it to get it to work right lol.
Let the game be a game.
I hope that Cry is going to play Dream Daddy simulator
Cry is my dream daddy
Ondriaaah omfg Yasss XD
Barba actually seemed like one of the most normal, reasonable and strong characters. Her first instinct was even to defend herself against the hookman, and even fought him. She even had the first instinct to listen for the man's breathing and stay way more calm about everything than most people would have
5:08 "You're only as young as you feel...That's not true, it's whatever's on your driver's license". That was a "realistically speaking" moment XD
6:28 That's called a "darkroom" :)
11:24 => 11:38 Men's reactions to pregnancy are priceless XD
25:10 Hopefully Little Debbie Fancy Cakes :) #notsponsored
26:30 Can one survive for 30 years with only a can of peaches per day? Also, was there enough room to store 365*30 = 10950 cans? And they didn't get spoiled? O.o
He had more than peaches down there, plus Edie went down there every so often as MC pointed out just before going in. She probably brought him stuff he needed every so often.
I guess so, it was weird that the game only showed him eating peaches :P I didn't join the dots of Edie going to the basement and Walter being down there, thanks for pointing that out :)
They only showed him eating peaches at exactly 12:00 in order to show how mundane his life was
Wow, this is such an amazing playthrough so far!!
The game's plot heavy emotional elements combined with Cry's lighthearted commentary and occasional life advice/anecdotes is great!! Quickly becoming a favorite series of mine.
Good to have you back for however long you stay, Cry~.
uwu
“I don’t wanna turn into a Animorph anymore! Actually yeah I do” lol
Cry tbh I haven't emotionally invested myself in a complete play-through of yours since The Cat Lady but you got me right in the feels lately. So thrilled for this.
Whoa, this game takes place in Orcas Island? I'm just a couple hours away from there. We had a school camping trip in sixth grade there.
i watched this with full anxiety but the way you talked and reacted to things was enough to calm me down. can't wait for more of this, my virtual big bro
*masked murderer pops out*
"Oh dear!"
23:48 I love the little detail they put into the railing, like it had broke just as the comic described
wtf I just finished the first episode and then another one ITS MY BIRTHDAY
A2 Syon happy birthday!!
Heyy it's my birthday too!
happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
A2 Syon I didn't even realize it was posted today until I read this. 😂
I love how in depth everything is. The developers paid attention to every small detail. It's wonderful. I can't imagine the work that went into this.
Bob, was a snake in a birb cage... Ok, with a full room of other birbs.. Ok.
really enjoying the playthrough, I feel like I am standing by Edith's side while she is exploring her family's story. So cool..thanks Cry ❤
How the heck did the person who wrote the comic know about the secret passageways and the layout of the house? That's creepy.
Oh gosh I thought i was getting into a pretty game with stunning visuals and a relaxing story, instead im getting anxiety with intriguing story.... not what i expected but staying to watch the rest.
So glad to have you back with amazing game choices cry!
The moleman o.o he was real
I completely forgot about that lol
Hidden This is my second time watching the playthrough! I didn't realize the first time either
I love the way you show facial expressions and sass through the character's movements. It really adds to it
if edith jr was 6 in 2005 and is now 17, this games taking place in 2016?? for some reason i thought this entire thing took place in like....the 1800's (that was until i saw the finch family ate chinese delivery food a lot)
I'm really really liking this game thus far.
Thank you for coming back Cry! Missed ya.
*drops everything because Cry uploaded*
This game is so calming idk but the storytelling along with Cry's voice is soothing.
I have a question:
WHO BUILDS A SWINGSET BY A FRICKEN CLIFF!?!?!
this is the first let's play in a long while that I've gotten so enthralled in! I can't wait to watch more!
Who in the FUCK carpets a bathroom
I know, it sounds really gross!
Maybe they built it but never used it...?
Or maybe the Finches were just dumbasses. lol
I think they might have decided on not using it after the first time that someone took a shower in there, and from the humidity alone cast off by the hot shower, the shag rugs got completely soaked and it turned into a pink cotton/polyester swamp in there.
MikePlaysIt Carpeted bathrooms were pretty popular in the 70s to early 80s
that's somewhat easier to imagine ^^ Pink fluff bathrooms surely seem like something Stanley Kubrik would use in his movies ^^
"Dave... Do not go in there, Dave..."
I freaking love the way the gameplay was integrated with the comic book!! I'm in love with this game T_T
why is this game so creepy
So creepy cool amiright
Cry, my man, you are a gem for uploading so quickly. I have been dying to know more about this family since yesterday and I intend to stick with your playthrough. Take care, buddy.
Wow, I actually get a notification on time!
HI CRY!!!
HOLY MOLY WALTER. JEEZUS THAT SWING. Both those stories were crazy, love this game! Glad you're playing it Cry, thanks! 😄
Im confused as to how Barbara died
Marisa Quinones Same, the whole surprise thing seems way too weird
Lucas Silva her fans murdered her it seems
Jessica A. I guess so, but why?
Beccah Emileh Huh, maybe because she couldn't do the scream anymore he killed her? Idk but that could be a thing too
Lucas Silva Maybe cause these particular fans were really messed up and wanted to be famous too, so they became famous by killing her? idk just a thought
I love the melancholic feeling the game gives you too. Reminds me of Unravel. It's so good.
And Cry, Sven was Edith's great grandfather 😅
Why is no one talking about the video's description?
