WLED and Ikea lamp = Great Combo
How I intergrated Led strip in a Vidja Ikea lamp with WLED. The end result is beautiful, although I say so myself.

Dear Ellstripe,
If you use the led strip only for indoors then ip20/ip30 non-waterproof is enough.
If white is important then choose for SK6812 led strip. They have a seperate led for white.(RGBNW/RGBWW)
Other wise you can choose for ws2812b (RGB).
30leds/meter, 60leds/meter or 144leds/per meter depends on your preference. More leds per meter , more power you will need....

No, in thuis case not the distance between node mcu and led is very short. 10 cm

D1mini works great with wleds problem is driver installed in pc or used flash program or bad usb cabel
