The worst thing that happened was the Emperor was killed by a gladiator who was a former general, even if the Emperor wounded the gladiator prior to the fight.

It's got nothing to do with "gladiators" genius. It's obvious they would slaughter people for practically no reason. Listen to the account where the guy had his most beautiful woman fight to the death....for being beautiful. No, gladiator deaths were rare sure but being a non criminal and dying Ng in the area was obviously more common than anybody actually thought.
2:55 I know he didn’t actually pet the lion but imagine. You were thrown to the lion and then just start petting it like an overgrown house cat. That would have been the biggest power move
I had to write a 15 page paper on Roman amphitheaters for a college history class, and it was not east. I will admit I was not expecting your video to be so in depth. The background research for this video was very well done. Bravo!
Zeus is Jupiter Hera is Juno Hestia is Vesta Poseidon is Neptune Demeter is Ceres Hades is Pluto Persephone is Proserpine Athena is Minerva Apollo is Apollo Artemis is Diana Herme is Mercury Dionsyus is Hephaestus is Vulcan Aphrodite is Venus Ares is Mars Etc is Etc
Most of the deaths which occurred inside the Flavian Amphitheater (the area being called Colosseo actually refers to a giant statue of Nero which existed there previously) were actually criminal executions. Many gladiators actually did not die in battle. I took many Roman history classes whilst living there, and the first thing they did was dispel some of the common myths.
The greatest weight I feel this episode has is towards the end. When you are confronted with the idea of being eaten alive. Chocking yourself to death is no easy way to go...
The Roman Colosseum was mainly used for mock army and naval battles to celebrate Roman victories. Most of the human and animal slaughter occurred at the Circus Maximus on the outskirts of the city.
I'd wanna go out fighting with all I had. The pain would be unbearable but if I could get all my rage out before death then I'd truly be at peace, comfort and rest in the afterlife.
Your so called rage would last 5 seconds before it changes to the worst Pain crying and screaming. When a wild Animal eats you alive chewing on you......

"Prometheus" (Προμηθέας) name means "he who thinks before doing something" (προ + μήτις (pro + metis) = pre-thinking, meaning forward thinking, anticipatory, farsighted). His brother was named "Επιμηθέας", meaning "he who thinks after doing something". Prometheus embodies the smart people who think forward and, because of that, they progress and with them all of mankind. His punishment means that society, especially the ones in power, do not like change and hence tend to dislike forward thinking disruptors. The eagle is Zeus' symbol, not Zeus himself. Prometheus was freed by Hercules, who broke his chains and ended his martyrdome.
I had this argument with my friend the other day he said if he was told he’s going to have to fight a lion in a colosseum he would just kill himself, i said i’d fight it (aslong as i have a sword and shield) because atleast i would have a chance of surviving, am i massively underestimating or is he overestimating the lion (btw i know my chances would be slim but i’m hoping maybe a 1/40 chance of winning)
armed with a sword, the chances of beating a lion one on one are higher than you think. The odds drop drastically afterwards since in a colosseum there is a good chance more challenges will be sent out after that lion, if not even executed by another gladiator/s after. Stat estimates suggests that the death rate of gladiators in a 'showing' was about 13% rising to about 25% in the 2nd century. If you were a condemned convict your death was practically guaranteed unless your performance was insanely satisfying.
If you had a shield and sword (and some training) you could kill the lion easily man. As some other have already pointed out it's what would happen after you won the fight that would end you..
Lol....a lot of you are underestimating the lion. He's much heavier than you, much faster than you, & he will not stop unless you kill him....no surrender reflex. Not to mention their skin is pretty thick. It is possible to kill it but 1 mistake & you're lunch.

Listen to the account where the guy had his most beautiful woman fight to the death....for being beautiful. No, gladiator deaths were rare sure but being a non criminal and dying Ng in the area was obviously more common than anybody actually thought.
They were also seen as celebrities and people loved them so it was rare that they would die. But probably the convicts were sent to their death.
2:55 I know he didn’t actually pet the lion but imagine. You were thrown to the lion and then just start petting it like an overgrown house cat. That would have been the biggest power move
Man: *dies in colosseum
Spectators: 😂😂🤣😆🤣😆🤣😂😂😂😂🙂🙂🙂😊😊

"ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED??!!!!"
Those not entertained enough and dared answer "no" were thrown into the pit.

feeding corrupt politicians, cops, lawyers and judges to the lions?😁👍😆🤤
Romans were doing Battle Royales before it was even a popular game mode. They had a lot of different LTMs too.
Ok. Dwarfs armed with cleavers fighting to the death sounds pretty awesome, if I'm being honest.
Agreed
feeding corrupt politicians, cops, lawyers and judges to the lions?😁👍😆🤤
I had to write a 15 page paper on Roman amphitheaters for a college history class, and it was not east. I will admit I was not expecting your video to be so in depth. The background research for this video was very well done. Bravo!
I'm so happy that The Infographics Show doesn't actually show violent stuff happening. Anyone the same?
I think the most interesting thing i learned about the coliseum is that they could flood the arena to play out naval battles
The Roman's called him Jupiter not Zeus
Only if you are Romans of the eastern part of empire, you call him Zeus....
acually it was the Greeks who called their primary deity Zeus @@cvanvslivs2406
Well the Romans did gain their polytheism from the Greeks.
Zeus is Jupiter
Hera is Juno
Hestia is Vesta
Poseidon is Neptune
Demeter is Ceres

Most of the deaths which occurred inside the Flavian Amphitheater (the area being called Colosseo actually refers to a giant statue of Nero which existed there previously) were actually criminal executions. Many gladiators actually did not die in battle.
I took many Roman history classes whilst living there, and the first thing they did was dispel some of the common myths.
The info graphics show always tells even the most macabre stories w/such humor.🤣
Animal dealer: how many animals for the show sir?
Emperor Trajan: yes

Nobody: Define depraved.
Rome: yes
The greatest weight I feel this episode has is towards the end. When you are confronted with the idea of being eaten alive. Chocking yourself to death is no easy way to go...

The Roman Colosseum was mainly used for mock army and naval battles to celebrate Roman victories. Most of the human and animal slaughter occurred at the Circus Maximus on the outskirts of the city.
5:49 Hypotemuses, you say?
Raheel Hafeez lmfao
This stuck out for me as well. This channel has run out of time with me.
He also mispronounced Commodus' name. He made it sound like a toilet or "commode-us".
I'd wanna go out fighting with all I had. The pain would be unbearable but if I could get all my rage out before death then I'd truly be at peace, comfort and rest in the afterlife.
Tf wrong witchu
Craawling iin myy skiiin
Your so called rage would last 5 seconds before it changes to the worst Pain crying and screaming. When a wild Animal eats you alive chewing on you......
it’s always the nerdiest people who say this
A Guy named Giorno Giovanna, and a mafia boss called Diavolo fought for an arrow an arrow named "The Requiem Arrow" and basically the guy S*abbed himself with it, and the Diavolo dude oofed, and the guy became the new mafia boss, ain't that *WACKY?*
I got an ad for a Roman tour on this video, This is unexpected
I was there about a week ago
I couldn't believe i was there :').
Ever since i learned the history of the colosseum I've always wanted to go
"Prometheus" (Προμηθέας) name means "he who thinks before doing something" (προ + μήτις (pro + metis) = pre-thinking, meaning forward thinking, anticipatory, farsighted).
Ah yes the fence ゴゴゴゴ...
There you are
In The Colosseum The Even Had Sea Battles With Ships Thats How Good there Engineering Was
Crazy how they just filled it with water

I had this argument with my friend the other day he said if he was told he’s going to have to fight a lion in a colosseum he would just kill himself, i said i’d fight it (aslong as i have a sword and shield) because atleast i would have a chance of surviving, am i massively underestimating or is he overestimating the lion (btw i know my chances would be slim but i’m hoping maybe a 1/40 chance of winning)
The problem is, what happens after you kill the lion. They might send another one or two, or maybe some human fighters
armed with a sword, the chances of beating a lion one on one are higher than you think.
I used to think I could fight a wild animal and win, then I saw that movie where Leonardo Decaprio fought a bear. Now i wouldnt even fight a hamster.
The worst thing happend was that the 100 spartans were recorded on camera by the infografics show before they died
That would be an Awesome Anime
"The Colosseum"
Watch Fist of the North Star 2 post apocalyptic games
It was actually frowned upon to kill people in the coliseum
What is a Hi-potamoose?!? ;)
