@@devinnie7572 It is pretty fun, and there are a few ways to play it - you can either sim up your empire and then just watch the 'younger races' and see what they do, or act as a kind of guide to them by immediately proposing subjugation as they reach ftl/uplifting them all yourself. In either case, I strongly recommend you subjugate the first primitives to become empires and set the terms to expansion prohibited until you've got the pre-ftl laws and at least moderate sanctions passed in the galactic community, or you tend to just end up watching the first AI to reach ftl gobble up (and often invade and enslave) the primitives. The easiest way to get the laws passed ASAP is to release 2-3 single system sectors as vassals with expansion prohibited early on, instead of waiting for pre-ftl's to grow up.
Late to the party but the first time I ran into the Chosen was during a Protector of the Galaxy run. I like to play the Clone Army Origin by going Egalitarian or Xenophile with Fanatic Militarist so I can get Distinguished Admirality and Diplomatic Corps which allows me to make up the economic ground midgame by migration treaties and those I still "lag behind", I can just beat through pure weight of fire. I digress. Suffice it to be said, when the Chosen came through that wormhole and declared war on my neighbors, whom I had a defensive pact with, they didn't enjoy much success for long. The only reason they continued to exist after the war's conclusion is because my neighbors got rocked and accepted a Status Quo peace due to war exhaustion just as I was preparing to head through the wormhole and besiege their homeworlds.
my first encounter with them was very peaceful because the wormhole to their cluster was somehow wedged behind the fallen empire so they couldn't really do much and i could properly gauge the situation and prepare for a war of that scale.
The chosen: we are the chosen, the galaxy is our divine right and we will purge all that dares to lay hand on it. My determined exterminators being on the verge of completing the Aetherophasic engine: the only chosen in death.
The Chosen completed my latest run's ascension to Galactic Emperor by declaring them a Crisis. Then I colonized the Ophala system, purged the pops, and made it the crown jewel and seat of my empire.
I didn't even notice them til the end of my emperor run, they were purged by a hive mind I saw the chosen didn't think much of em went in after the hive mind completing my galaxy domination.
Their little star cluster makes for an excellent "plan C" (the L cluster being plan B) in case of a Crisis getting out of hand. You can use astral threads to lock down the wormhole and sit there safe with 3 Gaia worlds and a bunch of Habitats. I case something goes wrong there the final isolated system is "plan D" since you can only access it with jump drives. You can build a gateway there and have completely safe fallback point though with very limited resources apart from the Gaia world.
I was playing a terrovore and this exact thing happened to me when the Benevolent Interventionists decided to wipe me off the map. the one isolated system was all I was left with, since apparently awakened empires aren't properly coded for actually using their jump drives. I can't make an attempt to expand beyond this system without immediately getting sumo'd back into the pit of shame, so I've been stuck in there for almost 400 years now researching cosmogenesis at a snail's pace.

Same, I was getting synthetic uprising achievement. Expecting an easy run. Then Khan show up, decided to ignore my just successful uprising machine Empire. Why? Because the Chosen are fighting him. I use the opportunity to gear up. Thought I'm strong enough, and I want my Chair. So I killed Khan. Then Discovered Chosen were far Stronger then me on top of them going Full Crisis. I have no Choice but to use other Empires as bait. Since I'm the second Strongest, so Chosen saved me for the last. Then when the last Empire have only 1 system left, I have no Choice but to declare war on Chosen I'm only having 90k fleet while the Chosen are 200-300k fleets. Have to do gorilla warfare to attempt to end the first war. Not sure how I did it. But it worked. After that, encomic caught up and I destroyed them.

First time i ever met the chosen, they declared war on me in the late game and i just stomped them. Honestly didn't know where they came from (or that they were a unique empire) until i reached their capital system lol
I’ve encountered The Chosen a few times now and I’m surprised that they never seem to leave their extra-galactic cluster, they just declare war on me and sit there until I decide to deal with them. I suppose this makes sense considering that when they first contact the player, The Chosen state that they have been trying to figure out wormhole technology for years but they haven’t been able to make it work. This seems to indicate that they simply don’t yet have wormhole travel, but I’ve forgotten about them before and played hours into games without them ever leaving. Maybe they never develop wormhole travel? I appreciate that they’re in the game but it seems like their only function is to wait to be eradicated.
Other empires usually put a dimensional lock on the other side of the wormhole and if they do, they'll keep refreshing the lock every 10 years so they'll never be able to leave.
