That was so interesting! Thank you Paul and Anthony for taking us along with you when you met the team and saw the procedures that go into the windows of your new boat. And a big "Thank You ❤" to Caldwell's for being so generous with their time and explanations. 👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed Jill. It was fab to see the process this time round, didn’t get to see much with our current boat. Caldwells were amazing. They were very generous. Have a lovely week ❤
Wow, so interesting to watch. Our boat Lady in red has the illusion of one piece of glass all along which Caldwell did with shaped bonded glass. We love it. ❤
Hey Paul. That sounds amazing. Great team. Looking forward to seeing how the double glazing fares. Have a great weekend ❤
Absolutely fascinating. Love the idea of a skylight you can walk on.
Thanks David. We loved seeing this process. Have a good weekend ❤
Amazing the precision in today's manufacturing processes. Quicker, more accurate build times, less waste, much better fit, better seal, less moisture leakage .. Crazy what humans can accomplish!
Hey Andy. Some of that machinery was very impressive. Great to see the need for human input too. Can’t wait to see the windows in place and how much difference they make to the condensation. Have a good weekend ❤
I'm watching the handiwork with envy as I can't even put a screen protector on my phone without mucking it up!
Loving this series, I don't think I've come across such a detailed behind-the-scenes peek at a narrowboat build!
Have a great weekend, hugs to Dexter! xx
Lol, me neither. This air bubbles are so frustrating!
We are loving we get to see the boat build this time round.
Glad you are enjoying too. Have a great weekend ❤
Who knew that it took so many stages to make windows. It all seems to be on the go. Won't be long now. Thanks, guys and well done Paul for such a professional interviewing technique.❤Stephen
Thanks Stephen. It was great seeing our windows getting made. Be good to see how the thermal break and double glazing compare to our current windows. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤
Who knew windows could be so interesting. It was nice to hear of Caldwells growth from a small family run business and see the very professional staff and true craftsman still doing some processes by hand. Interesting about the condensation reduction and differing types of finishes. Oh by the way, without a mirror on the canal path, I would use the privacy glass to check my hair etc, so it has dual purpose lol. So interesting for yourselves to follow your own windows, thanks for sharing, excitement times for you three (well two as Im sure Dexter isnt as interested) xxx
Thanks Susan. We have got to see so much of the process we didn’t get to see with our current boat. Looking forward to the double glazing and reduced condensation.
Funnily enough, we have seen people checking themselves out in the window whilst we are sat on the sofa.
Dexter wasn’t at all interested 😂. Have a great weekend. ❤
That was great, thank you. It was better than any of those ‘How It’s Made’ telly programmes. I sat mesmerised all the way through 😊😊
Aww thanks Sheila. I love stuff like this. The guys at Caldwells were really great. Love to you, Jim and Fudge x
Great to see all about the manufacturing of windows. Gives a whole new appreciation!
Thanks Cherry. They really were a fab team and great to see the process. Have a lovely weekend❤
Very informative, its getting very close now.lm more excited to see the final results, take care Paul, Anthony and dexter dog xxx
Thanks Catherine. It is getting so close. Can’t wait to see our completed vote. Have a great weekend ❤
Great sharing🎉Paul and Anthony. Good to see the amount of effort and resources used to manufacture an item like the window. There’s science involved to keep the living space comfortable with least hassles like mildew. Great insights on the many options out there to meet our needs. Have a great week! Look forward to your next video! ❤🌸🌼🌻
Glad you enjoyed. I can’t wait to see if the double glazing and thermal break really makes a difference to the Condensation. Didn’t realise there was so much choice. Have a lovely weekend and take care ❤
Can just say I thoroughly enjoyed this vlog! Very informative and interesting. Well done lads it’s great seeing the work that goes into building your boat.
Aww thanks John. I love watching stuff like this. Can’t wait to see how the double glazing compares. Have a fab weekend. ❤
I LOVE videos like this! There’s a show in the US called “How’d They Do That” and it shows stuff exactly like this. I find this type of thing so interesting!
I love shows like that too Marie. These guys were really generous with their time and it was great to see our windows in production. Have a lovely weekend ❤
Fascinating!!! Thanks to Caldwells for taking their time to do this!
Thanks Hugh. They were amazingly generous with their time. Glad you enjoyed and have a lovely weekend ❤
Another great interview. This was really fascinating, the precision is amazing. You two must be so excited. Happy for you both and Dexter of course. 🤗❤️🐾 Kathy
Hey Kathy. Was great for us to see our windows in production. Those machines were very impressive. Not long now until the boat is finished. Can’t wait. Have a lovely weekend and take care ❤
Well that was fascinating, and brilliantly edited Paul! We said it could have been a Channel 4 documentary. And who knew windows could be so interesting. Brilliant to see behind the scenes Bravo! 🎉
Aww thanks guys. Took Paul ages with a lot of cussing! 🙄. See you both soon x

How fascinating was that. Its not something you would normally get to do, watching your own windows or any windows, in fact, actually being made. I like to watch things like this. It was like watching 'Made in Britain' on TV 😊
Thanks Beth. It was great to be able to see the process. Glad you enjoyed too. Have a great weekend ❤
@Anthony Smith-Storey right back atcha. Weather shocking here so hope yours is much better. ❤️

Wow!! That was amazing to watch.. Certainly held my breath at some points. A mixture of modern machinery and people that know their craft. Have a good week guy's and Dexter.
Hey Kath. It was brilliant to see these skilful guys doing their thing. Love watching stuff like this. Glad you enjoyed. Have a great week ❤
Hi guys. . . that was so interesting. I never realised about all that precision work involved but what a brilliant piece of craftsmanship. Windows for boats have certainly come a long way. It must be a nightmare when people look into your home as they walk past . . . it would certainly bother me. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend.
Thanks Mark. I didn’t realise how much choice there was. They definitely produce a great product.
Luckily, because the windows are tinted, you can’t really see in the boat 😊. Hope you have a good weekend Mark ❤
Hello you three.
Think these vlogs are more for the men.
I'm really looking forward to the soft furnishings .
But still enjoying your vlogs.
Have a great week.

Aww Jayne. I love both to be honest. Love seeing how things are made but also like to see interior design stuff too. Hope you are having a good week ❤
Wow - so interesting to watch and what a great team they are. I never thought about how the windows were made and it was great to see so much done by hand. When he pushed the glass down though I couldn’t believe it didn’t smash! Hope you 3 are all keeping well 🥰 Have a great weekend x
The process was brilliant to watch Lesley. They were a fab team. I expected the glass to smash when he dropped it on the air cushion. Glad you enjoyed too ❤
My heart skipped a beat when that glass dropped.
I was a bit shocked when he pulled down that pane as well.
Thanks for video never knew so much work go's into windows.Hi dex.God bless boys.

Hello You Three - greetings from Poland
That was absolutley fascinating, seeing how your windows are made. I wasn't aware just how many different types of windows are available for narrowboats. It must have been a difficult choice for you to make. I'm really looking foward to seeing the finished products insitu.
See you next week. Stay safe please
Thanks Michael. Loved seeing the process. Didn’t realise how many types there were too. Can’t wait until the boat is finished. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤

Thank you Deirdre. The team at Caldwells was lovely. Great to see the process behind our windows. Can’t wait to see them fitted. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️
I've tackled a gazillion different DIY jobs, but cutting glass is something I just can't do. Yet, it looks so easy when you watch those guys. And the confidence with which they handle it! I look forward to seeing those windows installed. Fascinating video. Thanks for sharing.

I know a lot is done by machine, but it's nice to see the craftsmanship that is needed to do a lot of the processes. You think of it being just a window, but it sounds like there are a lot of choices to make.
Definitely some craftsmanship there Carol. We couldn’t believe the choices either. Looking forward to double glazing. Have a great weekend ❤

Such a great Vlog, we are loving these seeing all the technical work into making the boats. How lovely are those windows, great company. Thank you ❤❤❤xxx
Well done! Its fascinating to watch the craft/technical people just sort of calmly do their work. I was never any good at crafty things--when I worked for a carpenter when first out of school we quickly learned that he needed to take over when we got to the extra fiddly parts! I'm just too excitable to do well at such things.🤣🤣 And how cool to see all the parts of your new home being built. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting👍🏼. I enjoyed seeing all the glass cutting, I like to make stained glass so it’s very different cutting each little piece by hand . The big computerized cutting system is amazing for what it’s making, before that they would have had to hand cut each piece. I wonder if they will eventually be able to include solar collectors in the sun roofs on the boats, with the solar panels separate it’s going to get crowded on the boat top.
Spring is finally here, it was about 20c today and it was so lovely to get outside in a short sleeve and feel warm. Windows and doors letting in the smells of plants waking up, and everything starting to green up. I can feel the dark of winter slipping away and the longer hours of light lifting my spirits.
Take care, stay well and safe, enjoy the weekend. 🙋🏼♀️🥰
Hey Dawn. Love watching stuff like this too. Paul and his cousin in the 🇺🇸 used to do stain glass too. Much more precise with the CNS system. I am sure in time there are going to be windows that double up as solar.

Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter-Dog, What a really interesting Vlog. It's amazing how your window's develop from just being plain glass, to a purpose built shape and size (with filters) to fit your boat (and others), The Tools used to bend the window frames fascinated me. Everything is so precise, and the technicians/engineers are at the top of their trade. I loved the class cutting machine, it looked like a giant printer, I was thinking, I hope Windows does not crash half way thru the cutting process. Listening to Barry talking to camera was so good. What a completely fascinating video! I'm a new subscriber and have been getting acquainted by watching your videos in order from the beginning. Couldn't resist this new one, though. I was glued to my laptop watching this wonderful process of window-making. I find it wonderful that such skill and attention to quality is alive and well somewhere in our world! I'm living my fascination with narrowboats and the lifestyle via the RUclipsrs who are actually living it. You two gentlemen and your channel have fast become prominent on my very-short-list of Favorites. Thank you for your quality videos; they're much appreciated by this little old lady in the state of Oregon, USA.
Welcome to the channel Evelyn. Glad you are enjoying the vlogs. I loved the window one, I love seeing how things are made and those guys are brilliant. Thanks so much for adding us to your list. Have a lovely week ❤️
Wow! I had never given windows the thought they obviously deserve. Excellent video. And now the question: what are you doing for your skylight(s)? Triple thickness so they can be walked on? Tinted, or privacy? Or would that cut out too much light?
Glad you enjoyed Paul. The skylights we believe are 3 x glazed. Not having tinted windows due to the light like you said. Have a great weekend ❤
Happy Friday! 🥰 I'm kind of early so you still have some evening left to enjoy. I hope the weather is wonderful. It is here! ❤
This was very interesting. I've always wondered why windows weren't taken more seriously for narrowboats. Other than the obvious one---expense. With condensation being such a problem I think it would be better to spend the money and extend the life of the boat if a person possibly could. BTW, I've always wondered why people didn't have screens for windows and hatches. I've seen a few in videos. To me a boat with no AC has to have openable windows with screens. I can't imagine how you could bear it otherwise. 🥵 The powder-coated frame colors is exciting. I immediately started thinking how my imaginary narrowboat's windows could be done to match my imaginary color scheme. LOL. Well, dreams are free... 😋 Is the van fixed? I hope it didn't cost too terribly much. I have to get my car's AC fixed and soon. It's already starting to be miserable. 😎 Have a great week! ❤
Happy Friday to you too Dorothy. Weather has been shocking today but looks like this part of the evening is going to be beautiful.
Definitely looking forward to the double glazing.
The van isn’t sorted yet 😢. The bank holiday made it difficult to sort.
Aww hope you get the aircon sorted. Have a lovely weekend too ❤
@@anthonysmith-storey9247 I did read about a terrible storm that happened recently with terrible winds. Perhaps your less than great weather was related to that? I guess it takes a moment to settle. Still cleaning up around here from the tornado.
Sorry to hear the van isn't fixed yet. 😕 Soon I hope!
@@dorothydotson7154 yeah, most likely. We had up to 40MPH winds the other day. Sorry you are still not sorted since the hurricane. X
So interesting, as always. I love that you guys are not just curious but deeply interested in the craftsmanship of each element of your build. Makes me wonder if you’ll be starting your own narrowboat company at some point. Dexter, of course, would be CEO. 😘🙌🐶
Thanks Michael. We have loved being able to see the boat build from scratch this time. So much craftsmanship goes into these boats. Oh, Dexteras CEO would definitely be a winner 😂. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤😊
💜💙💚
❤️. Have a lovely week 💜
Who knew? Windows made for canal boats etc is so interesting.
The workforce at that company are so skilled at what they do.
It makes you feel proud to say... it was made in Britain and has the kite mark.
All you need now is a Karcher window cleaning vac (other brands are available)😅
Hey Harry. It was great to see the process. Such a great team and fabulous to be having double glazing windows this time around (love our Karcher 😂). Have a great weekend ❤
Please, no background music! Otherwise good video....
Cheers Brian. 😊
Do you have Cauldwell windows in your current boat? They are our biggest disappointment, but ours are nearly 5 years old, so probably things have moved on 🤞
We do. Sorry to hear you aren’t happy with yours. We get a lot of condensation on ours but they are only single glaze. I think things have improved and look forward to seeing if double glazing and thermal break makes a difference. Hope you have a good weekend ❤.
Health and safety nightmare. Handling cut glass in denim jeans, using a razor blade to cut the window bonding. Looks like nobody is wearing cut proof clothing Hope the hse don't visit, they'll have a field day. Sorry to be such a downer but if any of those people have an accident with that cut glass... The work was fascinating, though.
The process was amazing to see Dave. Can’t make a comment of the HSE. Have a great weekend ❤
Ay up me ducks.
Watched this tother day, forgot to like and comment so here I now am, lol. Another interesting video guys, love seeing all the different companies involved doing these great in-depth vids.
Ay a good 'un chaps ⛴️👍
Hey. Glad you enjoyed. It has been great to see the build in this much depth as we didn’t get to see it last time. Have a lovely weekend ❤
