Safin so enjoyable to watch. Too short of a career for so much talent.

I love serve and volley videos, keep them coming please. But I have doubt: often I serve and volley but my opponents (who are definitely not good, just like me) return short slow balls in the serve box and I'm in the middle of no man's land, somewhat far from the ball to volley it. Should I try to come closer to the net and volley, even assuming it would be a lower/more difficult volley or should I let it bounce and hit a forehand? I make lots of errors in both situations lol

Simply hit a half volley and you’ll easily handle the shot.

Yeah, this is very cool! Note they don't have to show you 50 different serve and volleys. The footwork is pretty much always the same ;)

Hey Ryan, do you have any advice on keeping the downswing and upswing of a groudstroke continuous motion rather than stopping and restarting the swing after the drop. Thanks!

Thx! How does that work differently on doubles?

No different at all. All the same timing. 1-2-3-split step.

Should you still serve and volley if your serve is not that hard?

It's all relative, Caroline. If you can get a relatively weak return, e.g. more down the middle, floating, and/or short, sure, why not? Plus one might *purposely* not serve too hard sometimes in order to give yourself more time to get to net (this is a useful idea in hitting approach shots in doubles, too, i.e. a return when you are are baseline and get a short ball and want to follow it up to net. Hitting a fast impressive looking *short* return, say to someone on baseline, just set you or your partner at net up to be killed. Instead, hit it high over the net and DEEP then get your butt to net).
Having said all that, if your serve is treated like a snack by the receiver, and they can wallop the ball with control and pace, you're just setting yourself up to be murdered if you follow it to net.
