- It's one of the most highly-anticipated shows of the season. So it came as no surprise to see that Matt Smith and Claire Foy (centre) were in chirpy spirits as they walked the red carpet at The Crown premiere held at Leicester Square's Odeon Cinema on Tuesday. Cuddling up together, the stars seemed keen to promote their new Netflix series, but it was the show's corgi (inset) that became the unlikely star of the evening as it followed on behind its human co-stars. The lovebirds were accompanied by actresses Gillian Anderson (right) and Vanessa Kirby (left), who turned heads in their glamorous dresses.

Netflix really struck gold with the casting. The writing was also brilliant but the casting was superb! All capable and very talented actors.

Vanessa Kirby’s performance as Margaret ( young adult) had been overlooked. She delivered a magnificent turn as a complex character with a roller coaster life.
Her depiction of the younger Margaret compared to portray of the elder Princess is night & day. The latter a strong caricature. Kirby crawled into Margaret’s troubled skin.
Hardly overlooked. Although she didn’t win the Emmy she was widely lauded for her performance. I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
The chemistry between these two made the series fun.
Matt Smith is amazing as Phillip. Simply amazing.

His scene with young Charles in the plane cockpit was visceral and brutal. He was so vicious to his son but it was so consistent as a projection of his response to his own weakness and trauma and how Philip can’t conceive nor accept any other way of living because it would mean facing it trauma and validating his emotions which he had learnt for so long not to do.
“Stop being so BLOODY weak” but is it to Charles or young Philip?
@@priscilafm8090 not better than Tobias imo - Tobias felt more like the real Philip - smith was great but it felt like a character, not a real person.
These two need to play Darcy and Elizabeth in a new film adaption of Pride & Prejudice. Their chemistry is 🔥

Matt Smith just has this way of talking, it's so distinct, like Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, etc. Every time he speaks a word it sounds dramatic and almost suspicious or villainous. Seeing him go from The Crown, where he was still kind of a "bad guy", to House of Dragons is wild. Absolutely love the dudes acting, its fantastic.

Brillant show utterly stunning.
the cast was impeccable EXCEPT George VI for physical resemblance where Duke of Windsor was superb .
Harris portrayal was exceptional despite the physical disparity to the real King.
well, the actor who played George VI in this series does feel like an aged Colin Firth, who played the late king in his early days as king in The King's Speech, so I just assume this is the older version of that "George VI"
I was sooo happy to see the Mad Men guy play the King, he's tops with me. Please quite killing this guy in every thing he does,lol.
I can’t stand the whole concept of royalty but I was captivated by this series. I think this probably struck must closer to home than the Brits would like to admit.

Matt has the face any profile painter would love, his contours are to die for even though hes young you can see the old man in him straight away, hes beautiful without the gay charm or masculine energy or fine lines if ya get me? 😉😂 He played Philip to a Tee 100% and when bearded looked uncaringly like Harry, it was a magnificent performance. xxx Like Kenta said, Netflix really did strike gold with the casting, every single one of them, it was bloody fantastic. xxxx

It's on Netflix, I'm pretty sure it should be available everywhere for it is an original Netflix production. If it isn't, you can still buy at least series 1-3 on DVD at this time.
Even though Emelia Clarke did an okay job as Danaeris in Game if thrones I do think Claire Foy would have been the better choice
