Here's the skills cause i'm a DS myself.
1. [Python / R] - Every company has their own preference, however Python is the most used language.
2. [Pandas] - Pandas is crucial + understand what each library does.
3. [Math] - The level of Einstein is not necessary. Just know a good portion of math cause you'll be using that quite frequently.
4. [Power BI / Tableau] - Your choice. Not every company demands this knowledge but will help you kickstart when your future employer is reading your CV. For me, i recommend you learn one or both. Pandas also has those visualizations but if you want to make it more eye catching, take your pick.
5. [Soft skills] - Learn how to talk. During interview, they will analyse you how you behave, and they will never tell you this upfront. Talk confidently but not arrogantly.
6. [Apply anyways.] - I don't care what they write or say on those job applications, just apply anyways. For some reason, companies assume anyone coming out of Data Science school is suddenly an expert. Apply anywhere even though the job applications demand certain skills you never learned. 9.5 out of 10 times, they almost never get the miracle person they're looking for. Yes they are delusional.

Haha yeah I felt the same way. I was lucky that my mentor was extremely helpful and supportive. We spent the first 1-2 weeks training.
